    • it doesn’t have a waterpark but it does have a splash pad. i believe limited space is an issue (see it in person) but you’re not staying here to stay at the resort, you’re here to go to the parks.
    • The Boss is a gigantic piece of shit. I thought about adding more context to this post but I think a simpler statement is better.
    • I somehow overlooked SFoG also not opening this ride up last year. Got marginally excited for a second there. That'll learn me. That said, the rename is a slight improvement.
    • I wonder if the 2025 season will open up with that kind of a celebration. I can't believe the shocking unexpected things I saw in those videos from last year. Anyway:   Six Flags Over Georgia announces new thrill ride debuting this spring The Brief Six Flags Over Georgia will open in the spring with a new thrill ride named the Georgia Gold Rusher. Park officials say the name pays tribute to the history of Georgia's 1885 gold rush and will feature immersive theming. The ride will feature spinning gondola seats and high-speed launches. ATLANTA - Six Flags Over Georgia is coming back this spring with a new thrill ride that's going to make a splash with guests. The Georgia Gold Rusher combines high speeds with a free-spinning gondola seating and dynamic water features. Six Flags Over Georgia's new Georgia Gold Rusher What we know: The ride was previously announced as the Georgia Surfer in 2024 before the change in theme. Park officials say that the new teeming will pay homage to the state's 1885 gold rush history and introduce a new character, the eccentric prospector William "Willy" Gibson. The ride, which is located in the Lickskillet section of the park, will feature themed elements like a mining sled and mine cart. "Georgia Gold Rusher hearkens back to a nostalgic era of our park, where thematic storytelling was at the forefront of everything we did," said General Manager Greg Fuller. "This revolutionary attraction and the investments made throughout the park will help enhance our guest experience around every turn." The ride features 590 feet of U-shaped track and multiple high-speed launches that will have guests experiencing speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. What you can do: Officials say the ride will be running when Six Flags Over Georgia opens in the spring. The park's Silver Passes are on sale for $49 and include unlimited visits, free parking, food and merchandise discounts, and access to Hurricane Harbor Atlanta.  To learn more, visit Six Flags Over Georgia's website.
    • Yet another massive fire has broken out in LA County today, and this one is only a few miles away in Castaic.  Currently the evacuation warning zone extends up to the property line of the park.   This is going to really impact park employees, please consider helping or donating however you can.
    • Our next day started out with a visit to Legoland Deutschland (with a brief stop at Peppa Pig Park next door). The second Legoland property I’ve been to so far, this was a really charming park! The lineup features some unique coasters (including a bizarre wing-rider that’s not quite for kids but also not a super-thrilling ride compared to some of the larger versions of this coaster type) and lots of fun smaller experiences throughout the park. We had express access to all of the park’s major rides, which cut our wait times down to minutes at a time. Similar to Legoland Florida but different.  But first... Somehow I ended up experiencing Peppa Pig Park in Germany before ever getting to its counterpart in Florida. What you see in this photo is the majority of what the park is/includes. There are water play areas... And a few family flat rides... The youngest of kids will find the experience exciting. Papa Wutz´Achterbahn was the real reason we were here. It features a themed zero car, a traditional lift hill and a booster launch (Zamperla is known for big, launched coasters after all).  Bis Bald Peppa Pig Park! Now on to the main event! Rope drop included a cute dance number featuring some LEGO characters. Bavarian LEGOmeister is the best! Familiar but different. Really, really picturesque on a level I hadn't expected. It feels like I've been here before. I thought it was kind of interesting that they had one of these kinds of rides in Legoland only to have a similar, albeit smaller experience in Peppa Pig Park. The newest addition to Legoland was our first stop of the visit. The realm features many mythical creatures built out in LEGO form. The station and queue building for Maximus - Der Flug des Wächters is pretty neat. I've been on a few B&M wing-riders before, but never a kid-oriented version. The coaster wraps around the mini-land's many elements. A look at the coaster's trains up close. One of the coaster's two inversions twists directly overhead the land's entrance/exit corridor. TPR takeover! After riding this one, I’m not convinced family/kid-friendly B&M wing-riders need to exist anywhere else. Drachenjagd was a fun junior coaster near the larger, more traditional Feuerdrache (Dragon) coaster. Feuerdrache was a good time. The park's express pass system is handled entirely through your own mobile device and allows you to reserve a priority entrance within a few minutes' time. The system seriously worked great! Power Builders is the original KUKA arm-based attraction and it was quite fun to experience the highest intensity program. Flying Ninjago was the first time I've ridden a Gerstlauer Sky Fly and for whatever reason, I couldn't get the thing to flip... But others around me were spinning the entire ride through. Das Große LEGO Rennen is a carbon copy of the one in Florida. It has its value with a few pops of airtime and some sharp turns. Lunch was a surprisingly great plate of veal spare ribs and a baked potato for good measure. It doesn't matter what the attraction is themed to, this is the quintessential Legoland experience. Temple X-Pedition was short but fun. This section of the park was quite nice with a kinetic energy thanks to several moving attractions within view. I do like that this park has an observation tower. A look at the bulk of the layout of Maximus. Jungle X-Pedition was a fun log flume with a few surprise twists. This looks familiar! A moving LEGO model of Ninjago was one of my favorite elements of this park's Miniland. It's like apple juice but carbonated! Fun to see this guy here, considering he has a near-identical twin at Disney Springs. Love this! Dinner was unsurprisingly another bowl of our favorite truffle oil pasta... By now, I think you know the rule. Hi Robb and Jack! One of the oldest attractions at Oktoberfest. The size of these portable funhouses never ceases to amaze me. There's just something about that Oktoberfest nighttime glow... Back for more... Elissa beat the Toboggan with style! Sarah nailed the lift as well! This is one time where I definitely recommend looking down. This Jumanji-inspired funhouse, complete with a knock-off Robin Williams continued to crack me up throughout our time at Oktoberfest. There aren't many Enterprises left out there, so it was fun to see one here. Voodoo Jumper is one of the best flat rides at Oktoberfest to observe, in addition to riding! Our next day would be our big day at Oktoberfest with time at the Lowenbrau tent, rides and more festival food ahead!
    • Oh no, the hotel pool you're barely going to use because you're at the parks all day has no free extra amenities! But you know where they do exist? Volcano Bay--where it costs $100* to get in!
    • I mean maybe? But it's a budget friendly theme park resort in Orlando, there are always going to be kids there no matter what.   Yeah I'm with you, when my kids were younger we looked for anything that had something, splash pad, slide, playground. Now it's not as big of a "requirement" but it's still nice. And again it's Orlando, there are so many resorts and just regular hotels with so many amazing amenities that to see something this bare bones on a brand new property for a brand new theme park is kind of surprising. If I remember correctly the concept art for the new "deluxe" level Grand Helios even didn't have any kind of additional water features, just a big ole regular pool.   My best guess is that it's probably a staffing/cost issue, higher insurance, have to pay a life guard to be on duty and all of that. Or they simply want you in the parks and the waterparks and not hanging out at the resort pool, but regardless it's a little disappointing. It seems like the trend for the last decade was to build really cool amenities to be included at these resorts (Gaylord Palms, Omni Champions Gate's wave pool and lazy river, new slide complex at Word Center Marriot), but these new Universals/Lowes properties have none of that.
    • tho it's cutting off a large section of CrackAxle at the lower left. . so the pic is missing Iron Rattler, Daredevil Dive, the Train, and Gully Washer.
    • ^ It's also a great view, of where everything is! 🎢 (roughly)
    • Maybe they want to draw more of an adult crowd without making it adults only. On past vacations, we would specifically look for places without splash pads or other amenities for kids. Now, apparently we have to stay in more expensive places that offer things like splash pads and more play friendly pool areas, because apparently it's worth it despite only having a partial day at the pool during our stay. This was a point of contention this past week when we were planning our few days in Orlando. A place with a splash pad would have won out over this place any day. Five years ago, it would have been the reverse.
    • yay, Texas gets to participate in this thread!    I mean. .it's as much "snow" as we're gonna see. Six Flags Fiesta Texas posted this to their socials:
    • yup, we got some snow here in Texas. SFFT just posted this on their socials - giving credit to the shops at La Cantera credit for the pic
    • Boss is still dog$h!t.  I'm 6ft tall, 177 lbs, 39 years old and exercise daily.  Got off that thing last summer for the first time riding it since my college years and wasn't right for a few days and after 2 chiro appointments.  I'd be close to say it's dangerous on most demographics.....I certainly won't go on it again until something is done to it.  I remember loving it when it first debuted and rode it tons as I grew up 8 mins from the park.  I'm not sure how it deteriorated so much over the years.  But, I think we all know we've beat this dead horse into the afterlife for years and nothing has happened.....
