    • I'd be really happy if it's true.  I choose to be optimistic.
    • A Whole New World Awaits, as yesterday Disney announced a brand new theme park. Their 7th theme park globally will be located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Disney will design the park while Miral will develop the park which will be located on the Yas Island of the Emirati capital.   https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/the-walt-disney-company-and-miral-announce-plans-for-disney-theme-park-and-resort-on-yas-island-abu-dhabi/ ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – May 7, 2025 – The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, announced an agreement to create a landmark Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The waterfront resort will be located on Yas Island, a world-class destination for entertainment and leisure, connecting travelers from the Middle East and Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and beyond. This seventh Disney theme park resort will combine Disney’s iconic stories, characters and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s vibrant culture, stunning shorelines, and breathtaking architecture. “Abu Dhabi is a place where heritage meets innovation, where we preserve our past while designing the future,” His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman at Miral, said. “The collaboration between Abu Dhabi and Disney demonstrates the remarkable results of combining visionary leadership and creative excellence. What we are creating with Disney in Abu Dhabi is a whole new world of imagination — an experience that will inspire generations across the region and the world, creating magical moments and memories that families will treasure forever. Through the development of unique attractions and experiences, Abu Dhabi continues to be a destination of choice for the world.” The new resort will be fully developed and built by Miral. Disney and its legendary Imagineers will lead creative design and operational oversight to provide a world-class experience. Miral, which has developed a number of family entertainment destinations on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi in collaboration with American and European brands, will operate the resort. “This is a thrilling moment for our company as we announce plans to build an exciting Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, whose culture is rich with an appreciation of the arts and creativity,” said Robert A. Iger, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “As our seventh theme park destination, it will rise from this land in spectacular fashion, blending contemporary architecture with cutting edge technology to offer guests deeply immersive entertainment experiences in unique and modern ways. Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati – an oasis of extraordinary Disney entertainment at this crossroads of the world that will bring to life our timeless characters and stories in many new ways and will become a source of joy and inspiration for the people of this vast region to enjoy for generations to come.” The UAE is located within a four-hour flight of one-third of the world’s population, making it a significant gateway for tourism. The UAE is home to the largest global airline hub in the world, with 120 million passengers traveling through Abu Dhabi and Dubai each year.   “This groundbreaking resort destination represents a new frontier in theme park development,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences. “Our resort in Abu Dhabi will be the most advanced and interactive destination in our portfolio. The location of our park is incredibly unique – anchored by a beautiful waterfront – which will allow us to tell our stories in completely new ways. This project will reach guests in a whole new part of the world, welcoming more families to experience Disney than ever before. Ultimately, it will be a celebration of what’s possible when creativity and progress come together.” “Bringing a Disney theme park resort to Yas Island marks a historic milestone in our journey to further advance the island’s position as a global destination for exceptional entertainment and leisure,” said Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, Group CEO, Miral. “Together, we are creating a place of boundless innovation, where the vision of our leadership continues to inspire the world.” The development of unique experiences will support sustained economic growth in Abu Dhabi and beyond. Upon completion, the new theme park resort will offer signature Disney entertainment, themed accommodations, unique dining and retail experiences, and storytelling in a way that celebrates both the heritage of Disney and the futuristic and cultural essence of Abu Dhabi. This will be Disney's  fifth park outside of the United States. It will be their fourth in Asia after Tokyo, Hong Kong and Shanghai. It will also be the first in the Middle East-North Africa (Arab World).
    • dnn has posted reliable info before so definitely something to watch for
    • Agree Citywalk is generally better for food, although when we do eat in the parks we tend to find the HP themed restaurants the best choice for quick serve. I agree the crepe stand is pretty good too. Florean Fortescues in Diagon Alley is fun for ice cream but almost always has a healthy line.  In agree with the other recommended restaurants in CW, if you want something very funky try Cowfish, if you want a fancier sit down try Bigfire; it's pricy but very good. Adults can only ride Pteranodon Flyers if they ride with a kid. Even the after hours events are not a guarantee, they do a lottery and some adults get to ride. If you are a HP fan I would definitely do the train both ways. If you're a lukewarm fan US to IOA is probably the best choice due to King's Cross. They will charge you nightly for the parking at Hard Rock and just add it to your hotel bill. Since you will have express you really don't need a "plan" as you can ride almost anything at your leisure. Single rider will not be any faster than express. The only exception to all of that is Hagrids of course. Your best bets are generally do the rope drop run first thing and/or get in line at the end of the day since wait times are usually exaggerated a bit then. Good news is spending some time waiting for it won't be such a big deal when you have express for everything else. We find that the single rider line on Hagrids is generally faster but never a walk on, there will still be a wait and you miss most of the queue (although they seldom run the pre-show) and you will almost certainly get the sidecar seat instead of the motorbike seat (if that matters to you)
    • That would be big news.  I haven't heard that from anywhere.
    • So it will have two trains available this year?
    • I'm pretty sure the current ROS train is newer than that. And they already have a new train arriving by EOM/early June
    • If I recall correctly, they paid something like $23 million to acquire the leases (a few parks have been added since then with this structure, so likely a bit more now if they sold them as a package) and then they pay rent to the owner, in this case the company out of KC, EPR I think it is.   I don't believe they own any of the rides or structures....that is EPR who does, so I assume EPR chooses to add new attractions or not and how much to spend.  Maybe they just fall on SIX to help with buying in bulk or leveraging any deals with vendors. Here is from the press release at the time, which is why I interpret it that way, but I may be incorrect: Houston, Phoenix, Buffalo, and Oklahoma City Parks Expand Market Reach GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Six Flags EntertainmentCorporation (NYSE:SIX), the world’s largest regional theme park company, today announced it has entered into a purchase agreement with affiliates of Premier Parks, LLC to acquire the lease rights to operate five parks owned by EPR Properties (NYSE:EPR). The parks have previously been operated by Premier Parks, LLC of Oklahoma City. These latest acquisitions will expand the company’s portfolio of North American parks to twenty-five. “Today’s announcement represents another milestone in our strategic North-American growth initiative to seek out park acquisitions that expand our addressable market,” said Six Flags Chairman, CEO, and President, Jim Reid-Anderson. “These are all fantastic properties that complement our existing portfolio and provide tremendous added value and cross-visitation opportunities for our extensive Membership and Season Pass base.”
    • No, I do not have any inside information. It is a great question though. The answer would definitely shape their decision making.
    • omgomgomg..... that's the"Plane On A Stick!" 😁 Too bad it wasn't operating, during your visit there. Great shot of it, 'parked', lol. Great TRing of your entire cruise and land adventures, Adam.  🛳️
    • Do you have any sense of how the management contract between Six Flags and EPR properties (the owner) works? I’m just wondering if it’s pure profit for SF to manage or if they have any skin in the game from a risk management perspective.
    • They really can’t be used interchangeably with MF…. The seating configuration is different on both S:ROS and ROS’s trains than Millennium Force. The seats on the first row of each car on the Superman/ROS trains (both the original and new Superman) are closer together than the second row.   Millennium Force’s first row is just as wide as its second row if you compare photos. This inherently changes where the hydraulic cylinder components are located for the lap bars. The more prevalent difference is that Millennium’s trains are built to accommodate the catch car assembly (I believe under car 4) whereas the hyper coasters have several chain dogs.  It would be cool if Darien Lake got both SFA trains for 2026 and then used the current blue train for parts, given it’s already approaching ten years old (so weird how time flies). We were having fatigue issues with the original Darien Lake trains back in 2009 (10 years old back then) that required some expensive part replacements. It would definitely get the park ahead of the game for once.    When SFA adds the red train to the track, I’m curious to see how it does. The brake run is so short that any extra train weight on a hot day and the trains just might gently love tap or cause a fault.
    • Hot dog joint in City Walk is fairly good.  Bread Box on the second floor near Burger King has good sandwiches.
    • The stars aligned enough that I can go to the last Epic preview day!  We were going to hold off til a few years but not going to have this kind of opportunity again so here we go.    For John: We mostly just snack in the parks, the crepe stand in Studios is good bang for your buck.  but we do like both Harry Potter restaurants.   and 2nd vote for Green Eggs and Ham.   But for full meals its definitely CityWalk.  I absolutely love Cowfish, and Toothsome Emporium is good too. We like the train and I think seeing it both directions is worth it if you haven't before, but if you just do one way then definitely start in King's Cross, the station itself is really great.  But the ride is not worth a long wait, with the exception of if you need a break; you might feel like walking from one park to the other is fine earlier in the day but later on you may change your tune.
