    • It's strange that they took out any reference to that picnic grove.  I had heard some rumblings of a 2027 potential coaster project awhile back but that is not a place I would have ever expected to see them building. Who knows what's going to come, good speculation though
    • Doing some trip planning for this summer... Do any locals here know, did the Bigfoot Drop Tower and Slingshot in Branson close? Only thing I can find about the FEC is mini golf, arcade, and escape rooms
    • Just in case there wasn't more to explain from my last post, did some peeking at the Waldameer website today and Lakeview Grove is absent from both the 2026 park map and the picnic grove rental section. West Lakeview remains but Lakeview (aka the original Ravine Flyer I station) is missing. Could this be the visual clue we need for the 2027 project?? The Waldameer fan in me is starting to freak out and I'm definitely intrigued!!
    • It has been announced that Category 10 will open a new location, the third in the restaurant brand built around country singer Luke Combs, in CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort. The new venue is expected to open in late 2027. https://www.category10.com/2026/02/17/orlando/  Today, Opry Entertainment Group and Grand Ole Opry member Luke Combs announced plans to bring Category 10 to CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort.   “I have a line in my song ‘1, 2 Many,’ ‘there’s no stopping me once I get goin’. Well, I guess you can say the same about Cat 10 now,” said Luke Combs. “I know Orlando is a worldwide destination spot, so I’m super pumped and humbled that we’re getting to open a location there. My wife is from Florida, so we’re both super excited about this. I am glad to be bringing our brand of first-class service and awesome tunes to the Sunshine State.”  The Orlando venue, targeted to open in late 2027, is the third location for the Category 10 brand, joining the flagship Category 10 in Nashville, Tennessee (opened in 2024) and a recently announced Las Vegas location (debuting fall 2026). Opry Entertainment Group also owns and operates Blake Shelton’s Ole Red, a restaurant, bar and live music venue located in Orlando.    “Country music is reaching more people nationally and internationally than ever before, driven in large part by superstars like Luke Combs,” said Colin Reed, Executive Chairman of OEG parent company Ryman Hospitality Properties. “With Orlando welcoming millions of visitors from around the globe each year, expanding the Category 10 footprint into this world-class entertainment destination allows us to introduce visitors to an authentic country music experience inspired by Luke’s Carolina roots.”   The Category 10 brand pays tribute to Combs’ 8x platinum debut No. 1 hit, “Hurricane.” The approximately 33,000 square-foot, three-story Orlando location will include experiential areas influenced by Combs’ music and passions.  OEG is set to break ground on the brand-new Category 10 Orlando location in summer 2026 and more details on the project will be revealed over time. For the latest updates on Category 10 please visit www.category10.com and on social media including Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and TikTok.     About Category 10:  Inspired by Luke’s certified RIAA Diamond debut #1 hit, “Hurricane,” Category 10 is an off-the-charts entertainment experience, bringing the best in live music, food and spirits. Category 10 is owned and operated by Opry Entertainment Group, a division of Ryman Hospitality Properties (NYSE: RHP), and designed in partnership with design and innovation firm, Journey. The entertainment venue’s flagship location is found in Nashville, Tennessee. A second location is scheduled to open in Las Vegas, Nevada, in fall of 2026. For the latest updates on Category 10 visit www.category10.com and on social media including, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and TikTok.     About Opry Entertainment Group:  Rooted in the unparalleled country music history of the Grand Ole Opry, Opry Entertainment Group (OEG), produces multi-platform entertainment experiences through its growing portfolio of owned and managed entertainment venues and live event businesses. Through concerts, tours, music-inspired restaurants, retail, publishing, digital content and more, OEG connects millions of music fans to the artists they love through experiences they’ll never forget. OEG is a subsidiary of Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. (NYSE: RHP).  About Luke Combs:  Global superstar Luke Combs is a multi-platinum, award-winning artist from Asheville, NC. Adding to an already monumental career, Combs will release his highly anticipated new album, The Way I Am, March 20 via Sony Music Nashville. Produced by Combs, Chip Matthews and Jonathan Singleton, The Way I Am consists of 22 tracks and cements Combs as a singular talent, showcasing his powerful, resonant voice and adept storytelling with songs that balance heartfelt vulnerability with anthemic energy.     In celebration of the new music, Combs will kick off his massive “My Kinda Saturday Night Tour” this spring, which consists of stadium shows across North America and Europe, including London’s Wembley Stadium (three nights, the first country artist to sell out multiple shows), Ireland’s Slane Castle (two nights), Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, Green Bay’s Lambeau Field (two nights), Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield (two nights) and Sweden’s Ullevi among many others.     Additionally, Combs recently made history as the first country artist to headline both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, became the first country artist with two songs earning a billion streams on Spotify, the first with four singles certified RIAA Diamond and recently extended his record for the most consecutive #1 singles at country radio as he earned his 20th #1 with “Back in the Saddle.” These accomplishments follow Combs’ last album, Fathers & Sons, which reflects on his experiences as a dad and the unique bond between parents and their children, and led NPR Music to praise, “he’s going beyond the country realm now and really has become a pop star, a global popstar.”     A Grand Ole Opry member and 11x CMA, 4x ACM, 6x Billboard Music Award-winner, Combs recently collaborated with artists such as Post Malone (“Guy For That” + “Missin’ You Like This”), Bailey Zimmerman (“Backup Plan,” the 2025 SEC Network anthem), Jon Bellion (“WHY”) and Alex Warren (“Ordinary (Live at Lollapalooza)”), and partnered with Opry Entertainment Group to open Category 10—an entertainment complex in downtown Nashville, with a second location opening in Las Vegas this year. Combs also performed an unforgettable duet of “Fast Car” with Tracy Chapman at the 66th Grammy Awards and joined forces with Eric Church, Billy Strings and James Taylor to headline “Concert for Carolina,” a special benefit show that raised over $24.5 million for Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
    • You can see what look to be pieces of kid's slides sitting down in the grass where the exit to Raging Rapids used to be, like they set them down their until the lagoon at the old Looping Starship is ready. A few other thoughts- Looks like they may be making a new main entrance between the kiddie slide lagoon? and Barefoot Beach. This makes more sense why the'd put a pumphouse in what was formerly one of the prime locations right at the entrance to the waterpark- they might be planning to wall off the old entrance so the pumphouse is way in the back.  The old-old kiddie splash station might be a good spot for a future addition of the big family dump bucket structure that we're still missing.
    • Cheetah Hunt reopened on Saturday the 7th and was up and down multiple times throughout last week and closed Sunday afternoon. It’s been closed since then with the signs out front stating the ride is closed due to the attractions refresh. I’m glad I was able to visit last week and get 2 rides in but feel bad for people who only visit once or not than often and are going to not be able to ride the coaster for who knows how long.
    • If someone lives near Michigan’s Adventure and doesn’t travel, it went from $150 for just that park to $999 for parks someone may not want or even have access too.    I used to buy it for Dorney when it was $99 to $125. It was worth it for me because it saved hours of waiting each trip in the summer for the rapids and slides in the water park that had Fast Lane. If my only option was for $499, I wouldn’t have considered it at all since most of my park trips at the time were Dorney and Hersheypark with a few trips a year to Great Adventure and Knoebels.
    • So, my SFEC Gold Pass+App was renewed through KD, and was the year before too. I just got an e-mail containing a survey that was all about a "winter event" at Kings Dominion. Here are what the questions were: 1.  Have you ever attended WinterFest at Kings Dominion? 2.  In what years did you attend (options of "2024," "2023 or earlier," or "never have") 3.  Free-Text fields asking what you did and did not like about the previous WinterFest events. 4.  An "A-or-B" choice between "Immersive holiday-themed event with limited ride operation" or "Closer to normal park operations with limited shows/decorations" 5.  1-to-5 scale questions for "How Likely are you to visit a winter event at Kings Dominion" and "How likely are you to buy a season pass to visit a winter event at Kings Dominion." 6.  A free-text field asking what you think the "must haves" are for a winter event at Kings Dominion. It would seem that they're actually listening to all of the push-back they got for cancelling last year's event and are considering reinstating it.
    • Agreed 100%.  Between making Gold Passes into Regional Passes and this, they seriously cannot figure out what they want to do with their season passes.  Definitely a more Legacy-Six than Legacy-Cedar type of move. Like....make all the changes you want, but announce it for the following year before passes went on sale.
    • If you haven't noticed, all season fast lane was changed last week.    Addons now work everywhere your pass works.  Fast Lane was updated last week. Dining plans seem to update (and get cheaper) when the spring sale goes live (only west and Texas so far). Addons must be purchased from home park.  Season Fast Lane Prices: West - $625 Texas - $449 Midwest - $999 East - $499 Crazy to do this months after passes are on sale. Also seems crazy your only season fast lane option at smaller parks is now way more expensive.
    • damn, this sucks, such a fun mine train ride!
    • Silver Dollar City has announced that Thunderation will retire at the end of the 2026 season, after operating for 33 years. After 33 years of runaway thrills through the Ozark Mountains, Silver Dollar City’s Thunderation will be retired at the end of the 2026 season, marking the end-of-an-era for one of the longest-running and most celebrated mine train roller coasters in the United States. The final day of operation is scheduled for Jan. 2, 2027. Opened in 1993, the runaway mine train-style coaster has entertained generations of families, becoming a rite of passage for thrill-seekers visiting the 1880s theme park. Among roller coaster enthusiasts, Thunderation is widely regarded as one of the best mine train coasters in the world. Since its debut, the Arrow Dynamics coaster has carried more than 27 million riders across more than 3,000 feet of track carved into the Ozarks terrain. While park officials maintain the coaster has become a City treasure, the Marvel Cave Mining Company has declared it is time for “real” work back beneath the mountain. Officials hint that its return to activity signals significant developments ahead. The Marvel Cave Mining Company is taking back this section of the park for geological surveys, ordering Thunderation to vacate the tracks to make way for resumed mining operations inside Silver Dollar City. The mining company, which initially ceased operations in 1889, insists it is time to return to “good, honest work underground” deep within Marvel Cave and that the rails currently occupied by the coaster must be cleared. “Thunderation has had its run,” said Foreman Jedidiah Campbell. “But this mountain was never meant to be borrowed forever. There are still undiscovered sections of that mine, and I intend to see what it holds. The work underground matters more than any cheer from above.” Rather than protest the decision, Silver Dollar City has declared the 2026 season a yearlong celebration of Thunderation, beginning with an opening-day ceremony on March 13 and culminating in a final sendoff on Jan. 2, 2027. Special ride moments, promotional offers, commemorative merchandise and limited-time offerings will be unveiled throughout the season. "Thunderation's opening kickstarted exciting additions to Silver Dollar City,” says Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City Parks & Resorts. “Likewise, Thunderation's retirement at the end of 2026 will launch new and exciting chapters in Silver Dollar City's future. In this case, the end is really an exciting beginning. Please stay tuned!" Guests can plan their final ride at silverdollarcity.com.
    • Greenland in Kumamoto, Japan has announced a new hybrid wooden coaster from Great Coasters International will open at the park in 2028!  https://www.atpress.ne.jp/news/2729358 [Greenland (Kumamoto)] A hybrid of steel and wood!  This hybrid coaster, created by GCI (Great Coasters International, Inc.), which has won numerous coaster awards across the US and Europe (※1), offers a new sensation created by its steel supports and wooden track! Facility name Hybrid Coaster WADATSUMI Classification Roller coaster Place Next to NIO Construction is scheduled to begin June 2026 Scheduled opening March 2028 The Hybrid Coaster WADATSUMI features a course with many ups and downs, just like a raging sea, and its greatest appeal is the "air time" feeling of floating up. It is also an extremely exhilarating attraction where you can experience the sensation of speeding nonstop from the first drop to the end without slowing down. The train employs a hybrid structure that combines steel supports and a wooden track, and while the steel supports reduce shaking, it also allows passengers to experience the ride comfort that only a wooden track can provide. The contrast between the cobalt blue of the supports, reminiscent of the sea, and the southern yellow pine used for the track is artistic. Although there is a height restriction, there is no age restriction, and the speed and course development make it enjoyable for people of all ages. This coaster is the first hybrid coaster in Japan to be built by Great Coasters International, Inc., a roller coaster manufacturer that has won numerous awards in the Golden Ticket Awards, which are sponsored by Amusement Today and recognize outstanding amusement facilities around the world. Please look forward to the further evolution of Greenland, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary this July. Total construction cost Approximately 3 billion yen Manufacturing company Great Coasters International, Inc. (United States) Construction company Sanoyas Ride Corporation (Head office: Osaka Prefecture) Full length 620.8m Highest point height 19.3m Maximum speed 66.5km/h Travel time Approximately 1 minute 10 seconds Passenger capacity 2-seater x 8 cars = 16 people 2 trains Usage fee 18 tickets Free pass use Possible Height Restriction 120cm or more Age Restrictions none
    • Slagharen has announced that it is adding a new Zamperla flat ride known as Sky Sifter in 2026! This attraction will offer guests a choice been a gold, more intense experience with inversions or a silver, family-friendly mode without inversions. https://www.eap-magazin.de/Article/%E2%80%9CSky-Sifter%E2%80%9D%3A-Slagharen-Reveals-Details-of-New-Dual-Experience-Attraction.html The Dutch theme park and holiday resort Slagharen is expanding its Wild West offering with a new adventure. This spring, an attraction named “Sky Sifter” is set to open, combining both a thrill and a family-friendly experience in one. This will be made possible by a ride of the “Discovery Revolution 30” type from Italian manufacturer Zamperla. The 30-metre-high attraction will feature two separate queues, which both integrate seamlessly into the theme of “Gold Rush” and “Red Bandit Adventure” attractions. Guests will then be able to choose between two options: “Gold” or “Silver”. While the Gold route culminates in a more intense ride experience with full inversions (“Full Inversion Mode”), the Silver route offers a more family-friendly alternative in swing mode without inversions. In total, the attraction has a capacity of around 540 persons per hour. “‘Sky Sifter’ reflects our ambition to create experiences that bring together different target groups without compromise,” emphasises Sander de Haas, General Manager of Slagharen. “By giving guests the freedom to choose their own level of adventure, we are expanding our Wild West world in a way that is both innovative and true to our identity. With the concept of a dual experience and the full inversion, ‘Sky Sifter’ represents a major step forward for Slagharen and stands out as a unique attraction in the region.” The name, theme and queue design of the attraction were developed in collaboration with the Dutch Leisure Expert Group. “What truly makes ‘Sky Sifter’ special is that the decision is made before the ride even begins,” explains John Ruisch, Creative Director at the Leisure Expert Group. “Within Slagharen’s familiar Western setting, we were able to implement this concept in both queues. We are very proud of what we have created together with Slagharen and can hardly wait for the first guests to experience this new adventure first-hand.” More about this year’s new attractions in European theme parks will be available in the EAP Park Report, to be published in issue 2/2026 at the beginning of March. ■
