Six Flags Great America (SFGAm) Discussion Thread

p. 513 - Wrath of Rakshasa dive coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

^I’ve been at the park at different times, including a June weekday, where the park closed early. There was an official reason but it was really because “not enough people in the park.”

Par for the course with this park.

Am I the only one that finds that incredibly odd? You'd think that if they were, well, proud of their new addition, they'd, well, give it a name, right? I can't think of a single reason why they wouldn't give it a name, that makes no sense to me.

They want to wait as long as possible in case any of the names are found offensive in any way due to some unforeseen sensitive political and social issue that will arise.

They announced the name; Mardi Gras Hangover!

Haha good one!

*googles Six Flags Great America*

OMG you're not kidding.

There better be a frozen margarita bar steps away from the entrance. Otherwise it's a completely missed opportunity.

Wait, so if the rumors are true, then SFGAM's original plan was to put a hurricane-themed coaster in their Mardi Gras section? and it took yet another devastating hurricane for them to realize this was a terrible idea?

Being in recovery and sober, I'll pass on the hangover.

Wow, people are really jumping through hoops to come up with a problem with every name they come up with. Good lord...

Personally I think this name is awesome in the "six-flagsiest" way possible.

Saw the name on their Facebook feed this afternoon and people were complaining that it isn't a "family name" and that it "promotes drinking". Give me a break!

I like the name. It's original and not another lame superhero themed ride. I would have screamed if they decided to call it "Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth".

Say what you will about the name (at least it doesn't include the word "coaster" in the name), but that image is straight outta fright fest.

But at the same time, it's all like: Don't mind me, I'm just flossing my eyes out with this steroid-infused Larson Looper.

After such names like CraZanity and (Insert DC Character Here), "Mardi Gras Hangover" is a breath of fresh air from Six Flags.

This. At least it's not something that lowers my IQ every time I type it, like CraZanity or (I am about to be officially dumb) Blue Hawk.

Also, this is the second time today that Six Flags news had me checking to make sure I hadn't time traveled to April 1st. (Not sure why I was surprised that SFMM is really adding trims to Green Lantern...)
