Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

p. 2030 - Top Thrill 2 announced!

Recommended Posts

Even knowing what was happening, its definitely amazing to see that POV. The end of that ride is going to be balls to the wall. I'm hoping that with this project, Cedar Point can shift its focus elsewhere from coasters for a little bit: dark rides, flying theaters, new water attractions, etc. After this, I'd argue there won't be a bad coaster in the park (maybe Corkscrew, but the restraints don't really affect me much).

I'm only going to say this once...

We will be posting the announcement tomorrow as soon as the materials are available to us.

PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY LINKS OR IMAGES TO THE ANNOUNCEMENT BEFORE TPR DOES!

Anyone who does this will be banned forever from Theme Park Review.

Let me explain...

Posting the new ride information before we can do it actually creates MORE WORK for us as most of the time people who come on our forum and post info about a new ride will do a crappy job of it and then we have to not only do the work we are going to do to make a proper post about the new ride, but also clean up the garbage posts that people make.

No one here will get any extra points or look any "cooler" for being "first" to post the information. We aren't about being first we are about having good quality content. Please respect that. Thank you.

Everyone please read this again.

So linking to an official press release and quoting it verbatim, EXACTLY as TPR would do themselves, is a "crappy job," a "garbage post," and a bannable offense? Okay, LOL. Gotta love how disposable people who have been part of making this website what it is for over a decade are to ol' Alvey, I would know first hand. There's a reason nobody who actually means anything in this industry likes the guy.

I literally re-registered just to address this (Hey Robb, your cute little "permanent" IP ban went away after 30 days or so and I've been happily browsing the forums again ever since - kind of pointless when VPN's are a thing anyway, don't you think?).

No, you've all been brainwashed into THINKING this "isn't about being first." It's about YOU not being first, so Robb can be, because he's a fragile little unhinged egomaniac. Guy is one of the worst human beings on the planet. Gotta love someone who demands respect but is incapable of giving it to anyone else.

I'm going to keep coming back, Robb, I'm going to keep reminding you what a piece of shit you are, and I WILL ruin your life.

EDIT: NO ONE GIVES A SHIT! BANNED!

Cedar Fair is putting Six Flags to shame with their conversions.

It's almost like Cedar Fair got the benefit of letting the designers get several years of experience converting rides vs being the company that took a leap of faith on an unproven company back in 2009.

Why are you using the word almost?

Although the first part of the ride looks to be huge, imposing and spectacular, I think I will enjoy the latter part of the ride more. It just seems so out of control and fast going through the structure.

I'm really looking forward to this, and the whole thing looks amazing.

C'mon. We all know there's a 0.0001% chance Steel Vengance isn't going to be the best RMC.

There's a very good chance that it will be, but it's not even built yet and you're comparing it to some ridiculously insane rides. Let's calm down just a tad.

Nice to see so much interaction with the structure; it's as if the second leg of the ride is a long wooden tunnel. Given that Mean Streak was such a good-looking coaster, it's like the engineers tried to preserve some of that and maximize its impact. There are some really bizarre moves going on in that track design.

Well....confirms what many of us thought: This will be epic and possibly the best RMC to date

I am also glad they kept all the structure interaction as well. That (the overall aesthetic) was pretty much the only good thing about Mean Streak by the end.

This thing looks absolutely perfect. What more could you ask for?

An extended Sky Ride that would take me all the way to the back of the park to ride it? Maybe even have the Sky Ride run through it like Monster at Adventureland?

Yep, that's been Cedar Point's M.O. more often than not; observe the prototypes, and then come out with a steroidal record-setting version a few years later. Raptor, Mantis, Power Tower, Millennium Force, Dragster, Wicked Twister, Gatekeeper, Valravn, etc. followed this kind of approach.

Agreed! The second half seems like an even more relentless version of Wicked Cyclone combined with Lightning Run's finale of small bunny hills. This should be one for the coaster ages.
