  2. You young'uns are lightweights, I'm 53 and I can make it all day. Although I do feel it the next day. And you two don't even have to deal with the aggravation and potential physical pain of keeping the "girls" in place on rides; which gets a lot harder as you age and costs a lot more money #sportsbrasareexpensive

  4. Nice to see the bit about Cedar Point paying all employees $20 per hour. That's actually awesome. See... I said something nice. (Steel Vengeance is totally closing at 4:30 all season long now though).

  6. It takes talent to become worse than Six Flags at customer satisfaction and general operations, but Cedar Point has blown the doors off that conversation this year. Edit: They put a post up on Twitter and shut off replies

  7. Yeah I spend all day with 7th graders. There is no theme park day that is as painful as that, I don't care how long it is.

  8. Yeah I wonder what prevented parks from being able to hire certain overseas workers this year? I hate to pile on the negativity against this post but come on dude.

  9. I can think of a pretty big one, and it's been the top news story for 14+ months.

  10. To me, it's not even so much that they changed the schedule. It happens, whatever. But I called Hotel Breakers literally 8 days ago because the website said there were no rooms available and said to call for further information. So I called and they said they were full for the dates I was looking for. They didn't use the words "sold out" but I assumed that's what they meant. That same day I booked the flights and car, and later on ended up booking a room off site since Breakers was "full". I also bought a Platinum Pass for both myself and my wife mainly so we could get early entry. Probably would've been cheaper to get a couple 2 day passes and pay for parking, but I figured it would be supportive of the park to purchase their premier product and it would also be an excuse to take a ride to KD this year. Then the rumor popped up here yesterday (as well as in the comments on the park's social media pages) about the June closings. So I joined in and asked the park the question by email as well as on Facebook and Twitter, all of which were ignored despite the park answering questions about every other subject. Naturally, they decided to take the Friday Afternoon news dump route, and buried the announcement underneath the whole $20 an hour announcement. All of this a mere 10 days before the first affected date. Piss poor communication at its finest. This isn't some rinky dink regional park where 99% of the patrons are there on day trips from within an hour or two drive. Outside of Disney and Universal, this is one of the top destination parks in the country and I know I'm far from the only one who booked something one of the weeks in June. Some people will probably just do what I'm gonna do and go to their sister park 3 hours to the south. But I'm sure there's also a lot of people who don't have a season pass and booked at a non-resort hotel who are pretty much left in the dark since this happened so last minute, and for some airlines, car companies, and hotels are past refund points. I strongly disagree with the assertion that booking this was a gamble. If I booked it 6 months ago or even 3 months ago, sure. But I feel that it was almost the opposite of a gamble to book last week. We're at the point where things are opening up quickly AND many people who haven't traveled in 15 months are all booking vacations now. Every industry is trying like crazy for people to take their first vacation with them to try to make up the money they lost last year. There's going to be staffing shortages everywhere and people need to be patient when they visit other places. But literally every other industry (and seemingly every other park in this industry) is doing what they can to bring in as many people as they can. If they have to limit attendance to their respective businesses so that theyre not overrun, they do it. Cedar Point knew before today that this could potentially happen. If theyre that short staffed on employees, they wouldve known that by now AND they know they're not going to be able to hire hundreds or thousands more employees overnight. Two weeks ago, they lied and stated they have adequate enough staffing to be ready to go. Instead, they got caught with their pants down and didn't bother informing anyone until the absolute last minute when millions of people are finally travelling. Sorry for the long rant, it just really pisses me off how poorly this was handled and communicated. I'm lucky to have a backup plan (and I believe my room in Sandusky is refundable still). Others arent going to be so lucky and the park's attitude was basically "oh well. BUT LOOK TWENTY DOLLARS PER HOUR!!!"
    2 points
  11. ^ I agree completely. The labor shortage isn't new news, so I don't totally understand why the park didn't better anticipate this scenario and publish a reduced operating calendar to begin with. Yes, operating hours are subject to change without notice, but from a customer relations perspective, adding days at this point would've been much better than removing them. I feel especially bad those who already had vacations planned for these dates with non-refundable elements (e.g. time off from work, rental car fees/airfare, etc.). I hope the park finds a way to do right by them. But the $20 an hour wage is great for employees! If I lived closer to the park, I'd definitely take advantage of that for a weekend job.

  12. I get that there's a global pandemic and everything, but it does seem a little unfair and irresponsible to put up a schedule, commit to that schedule two weeks ago, and then announce a bunch of closed days today two weeks out. I've always said for 20 years now that Six Flags and Cedar Fair balance each other out. They're never both great or terrible at the same time, they seem to flip flop on some sort of cycle over the years. Right now Six Flags seems to be doing a pretty great job all things considered. Cedar Fair, well, I'm glad they're raising their pay!

  14. Wait. What? I have friends who are talking about big travel plans, including trips overseas. This still isn't the year. It's going to take a long time for the workforce to recover, and operations to get back to normal. Many travel and recreational experiences are going to be filtered in one way or another, and amusement parks are absolutely no exception given the size of their operations. Things may get closer to being back to normal as the season goes on, but I wouldn't expect things to be back to how they were in 2019, until maybe next year. Hopefully I misinterpreted your post, but it's unreasonable to think otherwise. Cedar Point always has staffing difficulties, but if you were to ever cut them some slack, now would be the time.

  16. Yeahhh let's just say it's not Fiesta Texas. It's not just that Nitro has never received a repaint or that Kingda Ka's "scenery" has turned into an overgrown forest. To me, the most embarrassing aspects of the park are the simple things like faded/peeling guide signs and the gift shop "tents" before the outpost section looking half-abandoned despite being on one of the major pathways. Even parks that we consider "neglected" like Darien Lake seem to at least touch up their pathways and signage. Most people dismiss these negatives with the usual "well it's Six Flags, what are you expecting, Cedar Fair?" but still, c'mon... It's like your favorite dive bar. Yeah it looks like a dump, and is a dump, but the food (or in this case, coasters) is amazing and it's always (mostly) a good time, so yeah, you love that dump. And the Jersey Devil expansion is a beautiful shining beacon amidst everything else...

  17. WHOLLY CRAP!!!! THERE'S A POV!!!! (Sorry for the double post, it literally came out right after I posted) AND IT LOOKS AMAZING!!!!! It was definitely filmed by the park during the first test run we saw a week ago or so (it's exactly the same audio if you listen closely), so I would expect it to go faster when warmed up and fully loaded but it looks even faster on-ride! I LOVE the bran flythrough finale and the twisted airtime hill looks incredible!! None of the reprofiling seems to have impacted the ride from my perspective. I don't know about y'all, but I'm SUPER EXCITED now!!!! (If you couldn't already tell...) WHOO YEAH 9 DAYS TO GO!!!!

We made it on AND were able to get in the one alpine coaster in PF we had not done to make it 250 for the boy, the day after his 18th birthday no less. Not trying to taunt anyone, JJLehto so sorry you didn't get on but hope you do on your second day! It took us 3 trips to get it.

  19. I finally returned to Knott’s yesterday after 433 days (yes, I asked Siri how long ago was March 7, 2020). It felt so nice to be back at the park. I have never gone this long without visiting Knott’s since I was a toddler. I will NEVER take parks for granted again! It was a wonderful visit. Oddly enough, the slowest moving line was Silver Bullet and the fastest was GhostRider. Quite the contrary on a normal operating day. The upper and lower floors of GhostRider’s building were extremely socially-distant, only utilizing a few switchbacks, and they were keeping an empty row between parties on the train. It moved very quickly. The line started outside the building and I waited approximately 30 minutes both times. Still a wonderful coaster that will forever be one of my favorites. I cannot believe the re-tracking was 5 years ago now. It still runs like the day it reopened! Silver Bullet was a bit more frustrating. The line still moved quite well, but I don’t understand why are they are loading every other row on this coaster. It just doesn’t make sense when people are much closer together (and for a longer period of time) in the queue line. But at this point, I didn’t really care. I was just so excited to be back at the park. Hopefully they start loading all rows again soon and this coaster goes back to being the capacity monster of the park. Even at half capacity, it keeps the line moving “enough” to not be unbearable. Xcelerator and HangTime were both running very well, and their respective queues were quite manageable. Xcelerator was never too far down the ramp. They are also running two trains, which is nice to see, but really does not help capacity too much for anyone familiar with this ride’s block system setup and operation. They were loading one party per car, which is actually quite similar to pre-COVID days. A few empty seats per train but it felt like pretty normal operations. Same goes for HangTime. This coaster hardly ever filled every seat pre-COVID. There was always an empty seat or two per row, so this coaster’s operations felt normal as well. They just weren’t grouping pairs of two or singles. The line was never more than 20 minutes. Managed to get a front row ride. This is still a wonderful addition to the park, and I will never get over how much of an improvement it is to Boomerang. One of the best additions the park has made in the last decade. And the lighting package, of course, is fantastic. It really livens up the Boardwalk. I didn’t wanna brave the line for Bear-y Tales. The new facade and theming seems very nice and much improved over Voyage to the Iron Reef. But I’m just not a big dark ride person, and the line was not worth it to me yesterday. I know how slow-moving it is from my experience with Iron Reef. I will ride it eventually. I am moving to Florida next month, but I plan on returning to California around the Holidays for a bit. Hopefully the park is open to out-of-state visitors by then. But Bear-y Tales does seem like a great upgrade. I am excited to ride it eventually! Overall this was one of the best visits to the park I’ve had in a while. Part of me actually enjoys the socially-distanced lines and how quickly they move. Even pre-COVID, the cattle pen queue lines were never enjoyable. I’ll attach a few photos from yesterday. If you are a SoCal resident and a pass-holder, I HIGHLY recommend visiting before it opens to everybody on the 21st. Crowds are very reasonable, all rides are open and running at decent capacity, and food facilities hardly had lines. The 10pm closing was also great for night rides! Knott’s is BACK!

  21. Yup, you don't need the physical card anymore. I'm old school, so I like to have it. It takes like 30 seconds for them to take your picture (which they will likely have to do anyway) and scan a plastic card and hand it to you. They're not specially printed with your name or photo or anything. If you never go to Carowinds, it might be fun to have a pass with that park's name on it just for laughs...mine has Michigan's Adventure since that was the first CF park I went to back in 2017 when I started my current tradition of having passes.
    1 point
  22. Yeah, if you want to keep your pass in the App you can. If you want a physical card, bring a printout of the code from the e-mail and they can issue you a physical card at the main gate.

  27. On May 20th, Theme Park Review was invited to the official kick-off of the Knott’s Berry Farm 100th Anniversary Celebration! Starting May 21st, "The Knott's Family Reunion" looks to reunite family and friends in a safe and fun environment after a year-long closure due to COVID-19. Patrons can experience the brand-new Knott's Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair, meet 3 new characters, and enjoy Knott's Summer Nights with live music, DJs and food and drink specialties. In addition, the theme park is planning a nightly ceremony featuring multiple attractions lighting up the evening, ending with a special moment with the redesigned illuminated K-tower. Park décor celebrating 100 years can be found all over the park, including special photo settings that pay homage to favorite attractions from the past. The anniversary celebration runs through September 6, 2021. Visit knotts.com to plan your visit! Thank you for the Knott’s team for inviting us, and congratulations on 100 years! “100 years of history, before your very eyes, So come and join the jamboree, beneath the western skies. 100 years of history, with all the old-time charm, We’ll celebrate together at Knott’s Berry Farm!” It's great to be back at the Farm! 100th Anniversary decorations can be found all over the park. Fun photo opportunities abound, like this recently retired "K" from the top of the K-tower. Here is a look at the new K-tower, as seen in a "Welcome back" message: I know several TPR members who would *love* this photo op! A very popular photo op was of this tribute to The Haunted Shack. Whittler along with two characters from Knott's Bear-y Tales will great Guests during this family reunion. The Charles M. Schultz theater has been renamed to the Walter Knott theater in honor of the Knott's Berry Farm founder. Of course, you can't miss the new Knott's Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair attraction! And of course, it wouldn't be a Knott's event without food! Here are my two favorites from the kick-off event. Pulled pork mac and cheese... ...and the classic Cookie-wich with vanilla soft-serve between two freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies! Congratulations again to Knott's on 100 historic years, and thank you for inviting us! We'll see you at the Farm!

  29. Sadly, I've just realized that this also means that the farthest-from-my-home dark ride I've ridden is Energylandia's Monster Attack, which really challenges my long-held belief that there is no such thing as a bad dark ride.

  30. I expect all theme parks and tourist destinations to be extra packed all summer or longer based on pent-up demand from last year. That's just my guess though.

  31. Sounds like the staffing is even worse than previous years now… which is really bad. I remember ~10 or so years ago where there was no phased opening of rides in the morning, no closed food stands, and they’d run the big guys late into the night for those final night riders. Seemed like a lot of efficient European workers at the time. Coming from my home park of Paramount-era Carowinds I couldn’t believe how clean the park was and how great the staff were. It’s way harder for me to justify travel expenses, a room at Breakers, fast passes for the weekend, and all the other costs when the park can’t even open itself properly. There’s no excuse at this point.

  34. It has not. Still a shithole that happens to have a good hyper, a great woodie, and a mixed bag strata. You'll particularly appreciate the "marijuana is prohibited at the park" and "please don't fight" signs every 50 feet.

  35. Indeed. I'm such a cheap ass I still just get some place in town and deal with the short drive and mostly losing my parking spot. This is assuming I go for Coastermania where the early access does nothing for me, without I've generally not needed the break but we'll see as I get older each year haha

  36. I agree Velocicoaster is amazing. I got several rides on it this past week. I also didn't mind waiting in that queue line one bit because the outdoor section had fantastic views of the coaster and the indoor section has a lot of cool items and videos to look at. Plus, the line flies. Usually I only waited about half the posted time unless the ride broke down (which it only did once for me in all the times I rode it).

  37. There was also a lot of work done that people might not realize (or really care about, but it's things that are still needed). Multiple buildings got repainted and new roofs. New metal detection was added to the entrances, same system that all other Six Flags properties are using now. Lots of new signage on buildings. Photo place by main gate was renovated into a season pass service center for season pass issues/upgrades. Don't get me wrong, there is still a TON that needs to be done but it's not like the place sat totally idle for the past year. Hopefully some attention to the parking lots and midway is up soon, those are looking rough. And of course, doing something with the giant wheel.

  38. I actually found Superman to be fairly dull. . it was one and done with me on my visit. several flats (Rodeo & in particular the Scrambler) were running good programs I thought tho. In terms of Coasters? my favorite was Joker's Jinx, and I also thought Wild One, and (gasp) Ragin Cajun were very good.

  39. I've had a couple responses typed up... I've deleted them because I don't want to seem like all I ever do is pile on but I will say that what's hilarious is that they were so confident in their ability to staff the place that they planned to open Cedar Point shores daily from the 12th on and now they're not even sure if they can open either park. Aside from that I won't say a word. I'll just paste this bit from the conference call. Can't wait for the new boat ride that needs like 12 -15 staff members. When does that open? Next weekend? Cool...

  40. We spent the weekend at Universal/IoA on Sat/Sun/Mon. In that time, we managed 15 rides on Velocicoaster. A handful of front and back seat rides, including a few at night (which is just epic!). I can say that this is a ride that can hardly get any better. From the theme, trains, layout, setting, etc... It's just stunning. I can't really say which part is my favorite, to be honest. It just has so many strong points that you're picking at straws. The paddock section is just great fun, especially with those raptors which are far more effective than I thought they would be (for being stationary). But the audio effects really amplifies them. Plenty of head/hand shoppers with the rock formations. That second element, the dive loop, is just crazy-go-nuts! Fun little "Easter Eggs" too, such as the dino chow and the paradactyl eggs on top of the tallest rock formation if you look closely. Airtime is everywhere. The first launch isn't too shabby strength wise, it does it's job. The second half is like a completely different coaster... "Turn it to 11!" is what comes to mind. Top hat is fantastic of course, the view from the top makes it seem much higher than it is. It's beautiful to look around, especially at dusk/night. One of the best views on a coaster that I have been on, for sure. Plenty of ejector air in the back of the train, no question there. It's hella-intense. I absolutely love the following stall element, especially in the back (right side). It's different from the stall on say, Goliath at SFGam of course, but it's just as fun in it's own way. It's just, aggressive. The helix portion following is (another) highlight for me, actually. It's great fun and a perfect mix of forces with it's pops of airtime, the reverse banking (love that so much on this!) and of course the hop/roll finale. The final heartline is as crazy as you read about, being ejected out toward the water at such high speed is quite epic. That last S-bend hop as well is extremely intense and when you hit the brakes, you're kind of just like "wtf". I heard nothing but "this is the best coaster I ever been on!" or "wow, that's insane!" among many other things from everyone riding... Did not hear a single bad thing or criticism from anyone at any point. Everybody loves it! I enjoyed my final rides as much as my very first rides... If it wasn't for the bruises I developed on my thighs, probably would have snagged a few more rides... But it literally got to the point that it was becoming painful from all the airtime from riding too many times in a short duration. For example, the first night we managed 4 rides, which was fine with no issue. But the next day? After about 3 rides (7 total that day) the pain kicked in. I had to start bracing myself as best I could but there is no point... So yeah, it will leave it's mark with enough rides. I still can feel a bit of soreness a few days later! I find this ride extremely reridable, the thigh bruising aside... Many rides I can't really 'marathon' anymore (nor do I really care to), as I will begin to get queasy usually depending on the ride, but not this one. For as super intense as it is, it doesn't bother me one bit. Compare to say Steel Vengeance by the time you hit the brakes after two rides I'm done for (mainly because those horrible final bunny hops...). So that's a huge thumbs up from me. So yes, it did become one of my favorite coasters of all time, no doubt about that. I don't really have a "top 5" or anything, but it's certainly there if I did. It absolutely exceeded my high expectations. Big, big thumbs up to the team at Universal that made this ride a reality. On a side note, finally got on Hagrids after a few years of avoiding due to long lines or no luck with virtual-queue on the past trip... Waited about 30 minutes and it's a really fun ride, but.... but.... Dragon's was a FAR better ride in every way, sorry. One ride was good enough for me, unless the line is short I don't see myself going out of my way to go ride it again. Oh, and Bourne Stuntacular at Universal is quite insane... Had no expectation given what was there prior, but was really blown away by the technology going on there. Very cool stuff, don't miss out on that like we almost did (yet again!).

  41. Just about every place is awesome. Aunt Granny's has everything you could ever want. Absolutely do not miss the cinnamon bread near Barnstormer. Their barbecue is fantastic too, I think it's over near Aunt Granny's. We were there for 3 days and the only place I wouldn't recommend is the 50s cafe near Lightning Rod. It wasn't bad, just not up to the standards of everywhere else.

  43. The Boss. The Boss. The Boss. The layout could be improved by RMC, but it doesn't need it! It just needs to be smooth again. I-box was great for rides like Mean Streak that were terrible even if they were smooth, most of those layouts needed revision one way or another. I can see how this is different than I-box which needs new ledgers, trains, equipment, etc. If they can essentially use this in place of the wooden re-tracking/maintenance most parks do in small sections on a yearly basis anyways, this is a no-brainer technology for RMC that should certainly sell well.

  45. For what it's worth, I visited the park this past Wednesday with my daughter. After our inaugural visit back in 2019, where she just missed being tall enough to even ride the Shredder, we made the decision to not return until she hit at least 48" so she could ride way more stuff. Well, she finally hit her mark back in April, so we ended up picking up the low-price mid-week tickets that gave us free reign of the park from 12 PM to 7 PM. We didn't end up actually getting there until 2:00 PM (had to wait for her virtual school to end before we left), but once we did, it was a pretty painless process. We picked up our wristbands at the counter after they scanned the QR code from our online purchase. Unlike in the past where they were embedded with RFID chips and they would be scanned at every ride entrance, these are now just your average paper wristbands that we showed upon entry to the park and then never got checked again the rest of the day. Crowd levels were pretty light, as to be expected mid-week. In the span of the five hours that we were there, we rode everything we wanted to ride multiple times. None of the rides had more than a station wait, with the exception of Jimmy Neutron, which was closed earlier in the day but opened back up around 4 PM. For whatever reason they were only loading about four or five cars at a time on that ride, so it took us about three cycles to get on. The first coaster she wanted to ride was her nemesis from last time, The Shredder. This is without a doubt my favorite spinning coaster I've ridden so far (might change whenever I make it out to SDC, but for now, this slaps). The sheer length of it gives a lot of bang for your buck, and with only the two of us in the car, we got some absolutely insane spinning. Both times we rode it, they allowed us to stay on for re-rides thanks to no one else being in the station, so we ended up getting a total of four rides. It's just a great smiles-on-faces ride, and easily a big favorite here. Shellraiser was up next, and it was also a walk-on for us. Sadly, this one ended up being a one-and-done. Although the layout is great, I remembered half of the rides with my son being super rattly back in 2019, and unfortunately, it's only gotten worse since then. I don't know what they can do to fix this ride, but it's shaky to the point of the car feeling like it's going to tear itself apart mid-ride. We noticed at many points throughout our time there they were just sending empty cars throughout the course. Here's hoping they find something to do with this ride that makes it more enjoyable for everyone, because as it stands, this record-breaker is definitely the biggest flop in the park. Slime Streak was listed on the website as being down for maintenance from the 4th through the 20th, but for whatever reason, it was open that Wednesday! I was a bit apprehensive about riding as I had heard it was not particularly friendly towards larger body types and I'm still trying to shed those extra lockdown pounds, but I'm happy to say that although the trains were on the small side, the restraints were not overly restrictive. We did this one twice throughout the day. It's your average family coaster, nothing too special or thrilling but gives a nice view of the park. Timmy's Half-Pipe Havoc was open for the first time for us, originally being closed back during our 2019 visit. This was my second Intamin halfpipe coaster and my daughter's first experience. More ridiculous fun, with the back and forth launches and the rapid-fire spinning. We only did it once but wouldn't mind riding it again. Sandy's Blasting Bronco was also operating, but due to the height requirement being 52" and my daughter being short by 4 inches, we skipped it. It looks hecka fun, though, and hopefully the next time we go back and my son is along for the ride, we'll get a chance to give it a spin! Other rides of note: Kraang's Pandemonium is an absolutely bonkers mini-pendulum that picks up speed super fast, and the interaction with the ceiling (and ceiling fans!) is sure to thrill. Skyline Scream was operating as well, and this S&S tower runs a combo program; it shoots you up to the top and then bounces several times before pulling you the rest of the way up for a beautiful panorama of NYC and New Jersey. You are greeted up at the top by Spongebob and Patrick figures before you plummet back down. While it apparently can rotate, it wasn't rotating during any of our three rides on Wednesday, but it was still a lot of fun. Last but not least, while the Reptar carousel is cool to look at, it's a total pain to ride. Not sure whose idea it was to have the spikes on the tail poking your butt if you slide even slightly backwards. There were a number of new Zamperla kiddie rides scattered throughout the park, including a Crazy Bus themed to the Loud House, a Happy Swing themed to Dora The Explorer's monkey Boots, some cupcake looking teacups themed to Butterbean (whatever that is), and a mini-whip themed to Paw Patrol, but the only one that was currently operational was a Bubble Guppies themed spinning balloon tower. Here's some photos of the ones currently under construction: Foodwise, they're still only operating a single food stand located near the Half-Pipe coaster, with primarily pre-packaged sandwiches, hot dogs, popcorn, snacks, and the like. However, we noticed they were bringing more structures into the building as we were leaving Slime Streak for the second time, one of which said "Burger Bar" on it. Hopefully there'll be a little bit more options for food in the near future, especially considering that they aren't offering re-entry to the park currently. If you want to check out any of the other food options in the mall, you'll forfeit the remainder of your ticket. I'm definitely happy we visited on a slow day with the cheaper tickets and smaller crowds. I wouldn't want to visit on a weekend, where you're limited to timed entry and exit periods and the crowds are heavier, as I feel like you simply wouldn't be able to get through everything here (and it's not even as if there's a whole lot for that matter). Last but not least, the parking fee. It's free under two hours, and $2 for any length of time over 2 hours. This is ridiculous... and by ridiculous, I mean ridiculous to complain about. Literally go anywhere else in New York City and try to find parking anywhere near as cheap as that. Or for that matter, any other amusement park that isn't named Knoebels. Hell, the Queens Center Mall charges $3 for an hour of parking and all they have is a damn Target and Red Lobster. I get that people are looking for something to whine about, but this ain't it, chief.

  46. God damnnit don't scare me like that! It's still on the map, just not labelled (Woodstock Express is also not labelled), and it's still showing in the Rides page. I plan on swinging by the park on my way back from KI this Sunday, I'll let you know.

  47. A $2 parking fee in the NYC metro area is very small, but the existence of a such fee at all is an extra psychological barrier I certainly wouldn't want at my mall struggling to find tenants.

  48. decided to go check out Knott's opening day. but already had reservations for this week. since i didn't make the reservation, and my friend isn't usually available while working, i decided to just go to the information center and see if they could cancel my reservations and let me in. had to wait an hour to get that handles because they are just short staffed right now. so i didn't get in until around 1pm. by that time, the crowds really were packing in. so it made for some pretty long lines. so i just hung out with some friends and just did a few rides. jaguar!, swings and log ride. log ride didn't open until later in the afternoon and the line instantly ballooned to about two hours. i'm not sure what capacity is, but judging by the cars in the parking lot, the cars were about where they are in a normal summer weekday. so like Universal, get there early so you have very small crowds until 12-1pm, then it's pretty crowded and lines get long for everything. still had a lot of fun and will be back in a couple days.

  49. Two of the four challenges that have deeply impacted my life this year. All I'm missing is a murder hornet nest in my backyard. What a year.
