coasterbill
Batman, and especially Bizarro are running super well on the warm days this season so far, but Nitro having El Toro air? I didn't get that at all. On opening day I actually felt like Nitro was running slow, yesterday though it was delivering ejector air on the 2 hills after the hammerhead. It still wasn't quite as powerful as Toro, but it was definitely comparable. I've probably ridden Nitro hundreds of times and yesterday was the only time it ever provided airtime that any reasonable person would consider "ejector" air. Vital808
Quick question, are you able to walk through the old area that's been cut off over the past 5+ years now? I'm talking about the path you used to use to get to the Chiller, Music Express, Stuntman's Freefall, etc....it seems like they reopened it to get to JL on the park map but haven't seen any pictures...thanks. I don't really know, and it probably depends on when you go. As of now you can't go back there and the path is cut off beyond Dark Knight for Justice League construction. It's a given that once Justice League opens you'll be able to access it from Movietown but we really have no clue about the old "Old Country" path during the regular season. For Holiday in the Park that path will most likely be open as a complete loop as it was last year.

Interesting, I rode it twice opening day as well. While I found it running as slow as usual opening day, it is great to hear it was hauling yesterday. I can't wait for my next visit to give it a go. Brassinthegrass
Went to the park today for the first time this season. Showed up just as they opened the gates to the parking lot and were the fourth people into the park. Good to know for others **parking lot opens at 9:30, parking booths open 9:45, security opens 10, gates 10:20** Two rides on El Toro (second to last row and the. Second row). Thing was hauling ass even in the morning rain. Glad to start off 2017 on a good note. Headed over to Bizzaro and got a ride on row two with no wait. Rid is doing great and the staff was super quick as mentioned above. Did the safari and had a great tour guide who crushed the tour with great jokes and facts. All the animals were out and about and they driver did a great job at giving us some moments to just sit back and watch the animals. New borns are overwhelmingly adorable across the whole safari. Headed over to Nitro and had a 15 min break. Man is that thing hauling ass right now. Amazing floater though all the hills. So good!! On our way over the MASSES were walking in the park so after Nitro we walked over to Ka and saw a 45 min wait so we decided to call it a day and head back home (stopping at Sorentos for a hero of course!) Overall a great day and looking forward to a great season of thrills ahead!
B&MIntaminGCI
I forgot to mention that even the Skull Mountain crew was hauling. Last Wednesday when we went, I actually witnessed a few trains on Skully not stack, it was so weird because I've never seen that happen.
I Like Theme Parks.
I was at the park for about 2 hours this morning. It was surprisingly crowded considering the weather, but the lines moved quickly because of how good the operations were. The people at the entrance could have been faster, but at least the ride ops are great! Rides: Batman: The Ride x 5 - Back row, right seat four of the rides, and back-left for one of them. For my first three rides I didn't have to even get up. It was running amazing! All of my rides were in the rain. Nitro x 2 - Back row. This was also in the rain, and it is running really well. It's giving very strong floater, borderline-ejector air on the hill after the hammerhead turn and the bunny hills at the end. The rain was a bit painful but made it feel faster! Bizarro x 3 - Front row once, back-right twice. The way it's running is comparable to Dominator. It's really flying through the course and is very smooth. Awesome rides on it today! anonymouscactus
First park of the year! Purposely chose food truck weekend so it better be good! -- Driving 6.5 hours Saturday morning and then park all day. First time I'm not doing 2 nights / driving down the night before. Gotta prepare myself for the craziness of the west coast trip later this year, I guess. (and so I can afford a flash pass if needed. Oh, and lockers ). If you see someone passed out in front of a food truck it's probably me... Boldikus, please keep your food truck boner away from me.... Anyone have experience with these food trucks / any must-haves? I had the waffle truck at HITP and it was pretty damn good 8) -- looking for other suggestions on things to try! coasterbill
This wasn't planned at all but we'll be there Sunday (weather permitting). It'll be another visit with the family. Normally it's just me, Brit and whoever we run into at the park but occasionally we convince my mom to tag along (who's pushing 60 but loves coasters and is convinced that the sun rises and sets with Nitro). We convinced her to come with us for the first time in like 2 years (aside from HITP) last weekend and now it turns out she and my brother will both be in Jersey on Sunday and they asked if we wanted to go back... I can't say no to that. lol It's as if the universe is working to make sure I eat as many waffles as possible. robbalvey
This just in from Six Flags Great Adventure! World’s Tallest and Fastest Drop Ride to Debut Extreme VR Experience at Six Flags Great Adventure in Partnership with Samsung Opens May 5 with Spider-Infested Virtual Reality Experience JACKSON, N.J. ─ April 20, 2017─ Six Flags Great Adventure, in partnership with Samsung Electronics America, Inc., the “Official Technology Partner of Six Flags,” today announced an all-new, extreme virtual reality experience coming to the world’s tallest and fastest drop ride beginning May 5. Thrill-seekers will use Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus to battle giant, mutant spiders while they plunge 41 stories at speeds up to 90 mph on Drop of Doom VR, a fully-integrated virtual reality (VR) experience on Zumanjaro. “As the leader in innovation, Six Flags launched the very first VR coaster experiences. Now, we are taking virtual reality to the next level with the introduction of the first VR drop rides,” said Neal Thurman, park president. “Drop of Doom VR plays upon two of our greatest fears – extreme heights and spiders – and delivers an entirely new thrill for the spring 2017 season.” While anxious riders buckle into their floorless seats and strap on their VR headsets, they are transported into a 360-degree virtual world where they become pilots of a futuristic gunship under attack by mutant spiders. This intense, interactive adventure features: - High speed, vertical ascent up 41 actual stories that transforms into 100 virtual stories while teetering off the edge of a helicopter; - A 360-degree rotating view high above massive city skyscrapers that are under siege by enormous spiders; - A high-intensity gun battle against a giant arachnid, spewing baby spiders that virtually crawl all over the rider’s body; - A thrilling 10-second fiery plunge straight down at speeds up to 90 mph between towering skyscrapers; - The final showdown with a spider the size of a van, teeth-gnashing and in full attack mode. For a limited time only, guests can experience the Drop of Doom virtual reality attraction free with paid park admission. Riders must be at least 48” tall to ride Drop of Doom VR, and at least 13 years old to experience Samsung Gear VR.
robbalvey
Guys - I know some people just LOOOOOOVE to be first to post news and stuff, but please... PLEASE I ask, when news breaks, especially when it's from a park that you all KNOW we regularly post information from, please wait for one of the admins to post it. It just means we have to spend EXTRA time and do more work cleaning up a thread and removing posts so that everything will now flow like the discussion should. Thank you. SharkTums
I'd like some more details. I want to make sure that you don't HAVE to ride with VR, because if you do, and with the Six Flags VR age restrictions they've just cut out about 6 years worth of riders that can ride. Also, maybe a separate queue for VR? I don't need this ride to all of a sudden have a two hour line for me to ride with out the goggles! If there's any Six Flags park that can at least pull this off right it's Great Adventure, so here's to hoping for the best!
boldikus
My opinion of this still stands. Also, maybe a separate queue for VR? I don't need this ride to all of a sudden have a two hour line for me to ride with out the goggles! This is my issue. I love Zum, probably more than most of the coaster junkies around these parts, and I appreciate the fact the Zums line is usually manageable. A separate queue would be the move, but we all know they're not going to bother with that. The ride is about the view, not so much the drop, and I don't think a phone strapped to my face playing a cheesy nonsensical VR story will come close to the view and the thrill from being up that high. Hopefully it won't last long and they put it back in The Mountain where it belongs.
YoshiFan
Maybe they will use the single rider line for a non VR line?
boldikus
Another thing that grinds my gears, and I know this is a stupid, petty enthusiast-esque gripe but the drop is not 10 seconds. This isn't new, they've been advertising that since the thing opened. But in fact it's actually half that.
KBrylczyk
I may need to have a flamethrower on hand. I hate spiders...
jynx242
At SFoG for Acrophobia (or arachnophobia if you will) everyone gets seated - then they come around with carts and ask if you want VR - if you do, they help you put the VR goggles on and adjust them. Luckily, there usually isn't a terrible line for Acrophobia so the extended loading time wasn't to horrific.
Blatch
So, "World's Tallest & Fastest Virtual Reality Drop Ride". Six Flags really knows which records to go for nowadays.
B&MIntaminGCI
I'll try it once, like I tried Skull Mountain, it was neat experience, but I definitely only need to do it once.
Canobie Coaster
Maybe I'd try VR on Great Escape's tower, but I wouldn't want to deprive myself of that view atop Zumanjaro.
