Will it be a clone of Jersey Devil?

From what i've heard it will be a near-clone, with the main difference being an extended break run to help fit the the plot of land and station placement since the ride will re-use the green lantern station structure.

The park also had a dolphin show where what is now the justice league ride.  The bleachers were re-purposed for the stunt shows.

I wish they could bring back the Batman stunt shows.  They were so cheesy but SO FUN.  Plus, the park is desperately low on live entertainment and things to do beside wait in line for coasters.

I totally agree, but unfortunately entertainment isn't something that really makes the park any money directly (seasonal events notwithstanding). I worked various jobs for and adjacent to the Entertainment department for over 4 years and they cut the Entertainment budget every single season. It's just not something that Six Flags prioritizes at all. It requires time, effort, and money to pull off good entertainment and Six Flags has shown absolutely no willingness to support it. A lot of talented individuals from Entertainment and other departments have gotten their start at Six Flags and almost none of them stay there.

I could go on for hours complaining, but at the end of the day entertainment is just not in the Six Flags business model.

The park posted on Instagram a graphic saying "Park Opening with Rides Spring 2021."

I will forever be skeptical of California parks re-opening, but if current COVID trends continue and as we approach the one-year mark of closure... I will admit I am a bit more hopeful now than ever. Fingers crossed!

It’s not a joke but it’s meaningless.

They will open when the state lets them and they have no idea when that’s going to be.

I don't it's meaningless, rather they can't know for sure. The way things are looking in California, a late spring opening is not completely out of the question. Newsom has been strict but I think this summer there will be a huge push to reopen in California with support from the government, rather than backfire. It really depends how well this vaccine distribution goes. My current prediction is that Magic Mountain will plan to open memorial day weekend, and then pushed back into june or early july.

I take their carefully worded post to mean a couple of possibilities:

1. spring technically runs all the way until June 20, so they could be incredibly optimistic that the legislation moving all parks into orange tier will pass and the covid numbers will continue to trend in the right direction.

2. They will open the park as “outdoor dining,” but block off a certain section to be an upcharge and treat it like a “small park,” which would allow them a 500 person max capacity in that section.  Could offer timeslots to cycle a lot of people through per day.

“It has been a dream of mine for over 10 years to put together a family event like this!” said West Coast Customs Founder & CEO, Ryan Friedlinghaus. “I’m excited to say it is official as we are about to make some new history together with Six Flags Magic Mountain. It’s the first ever drive-thru car show in a theme park where LA’s top vehicles from all different categories, mini trucks to low riders and everything in between, will be displayed. This event will take you on a trip down memory lane and also make new memories for families to share together.”

Six Flags Park President, Don McCoy, continues in saying, “We’re thrilled to host this event with West Coast Customs. We know that people are searching for fun and safe activities to do with their families. This is a really innovative concept that is sure to offer a fun experience for car lovers of all ages”.

The West Coast Customs Cruis’n the Park Car Show will run for a limited time – every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from February 26 – March 14. To control and manage capacity, limited reservations will be available each date and will be required by all guests in advance using Six Flags’ new online reservation system. Special event admission tickets for this first-ever event will be available on a first come, first served basis and will be sold per car.

Admission discounts are available for active Memberships and Season Passes, and reservations will be required. Ticket sales will not be available at the gate. For more information on West Coast Customs Cruis’n the Park Car Show, visit our website at
www.sixflags.com/magicmountain

The safety of guests and team members is always Six Flags’ top priority. The new West Coast Customs Cruis’n the Park Car Show at Six Flags Magic Mountain will offer a contactless experience that follows CDC, state, and county health and safety guidelines. To prevent overcrowding and provide proper social distancing, a limited number of cars will be allowed each date.

A full list of safety requirements for the event is available on the park’s website at www.sixflags.com/magicmountain, including LA County’s guidelines for vehicle-based events.

Event requirements include use of masks if windows are down, no smoking, littering, stopping, or exiting vehicles. Due to the limited size of certain areas and terrain within the park, only cars, SUVs, vans, and pick-up trucks are permitted. No convertibles, busses, RVs, commercial vehicles, dually pick-up trucks, trailers, or motorcycles will be allowed. A maximum speed of three mph and maintaining a safe distance between cars will be strictly enforced.

As part of Six Flags’ comprehensive safety procedures, all employees are required to wear masks and are temperature-checked and health-screened each day. Gloves are worn as appropriate, per guidelines. As directed by current state regulations, no additional services will be available. Six Flags encourages guests to plan accordingly for restroom breaks, gasoline, and food. Only portable toilets will be available at the entrance and exit.

Thanks for the info! Good to see SF being creative in opening the park a bit for the car show.

As far as "spring 2021", well, that depends on our politicians.  Nevada is in theory lifting all state wide restrictions in May, leaving it up to the county . I could see CA gov making the same call, to deflect criticism off of him.

Now onto fun stuff,  with the RMC under construction in the GL / Tidal Wave spot,  what are the odds of the theme?  Would they dare to recycle the Green Lantern name, or go with a hero / villain who happens to have a sequel movie coming out?  That being said, I do hope they continue to improve the overall look of the DC Universe area.  While the results have been mixed in some areas as they refurb the park itself when doing new ride installs, I do appreciate the effort.

I was pretty shocked at the price of this car show.  Curious to see how it does since members/pass holders are only getting a small discount.   Better that they are doing, per car, instead of per person like Holiday in the Park though.  So up to eight is the same price.  Load up a suburban.  But then they also request that you only come with people in the same household, which no one except me did for HitP. LOL

I'd be super shocked if it doesn't receive a Joker theme. I have no legit evidence of this, it's just a super hot/perpetually popular character that Magic Mountain hasn't taken advantage of yet.

"But everything in SoCal is expensive..."  This was the rationale used to explain the ridiculous HitP drive-through price, so I guess it applies here too?

Yup.

Most SoCal Holiday Drive Thru events are $60-$100 per car.  Stranger Things Drive Thru?  About $130-$200 per car.  The new Drive Thru Electric Mile EDM and light experience?  $80-$140 per car.  Another newly announced Candy Themed Drive Thru called "Sugar Rush" (seriously... I wish I could make this stuff up)... tickets start at $75 per car.

That $20 a person they were charging for HitP was a relative bargain for this area (unless you had more than four people in a car, I suppose).  It was way cheaper that most of our comparative Drive Thru events.   And I'd estimate the SFMM Drive Thru to be about 10-15 minutes longer than the other ones (except Stranger Things, which takes about an hour), so in a way, it still works out cheaper than the other Drive Thru events, since it lasts longer for the same price.

For a lot of those events there was also literally nothing else to do in Southern California which probably helped drive up prices (or at least demand) even further. If I weren’t even allowed to eat outdoors or drink water at downtown Disney for a few months then hell, I might pay $80 per family to drive through a theme park too.
