coasterlover420 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 If I go to heaven - Speed: The Ride! It was my first launched coaster, and it definitely helped me overcome a lot of fear I had concerning coasters as a kid! If I go to hell - Son of Beast! I do love wooden coasters
scbt Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 The only coaster i've been on that is currently defunct is the Wolf at BGW, it may have not been the most intense ride ever, but it was one of the most 'fun' rides i've ever been on
SharkTums Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 ^I was pretty bummed going there this summer with a 42" Kristen and there not being any Big Bad Wolf...
CoasterGuy06 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I would have to say Rampage is my favorite defunct ride, for a variety of reasons
ThatFloridaDude Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Defunt ride? Not defunct, just rethemed but FLying Unicorn. I miss the theming. Pythong @ BG Tampa Bay King Kong @ Universal Orlando Earthquake Universal Orlando and BACK TO THE FUTURE!!!! I miss this ride.
3Mutts Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I miss Wildcat at CP because it was a fun little ride and I'm glad that High Speed Thrill Coaster at Knoebels is gone!
Nrthwnd Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I don't think they're totally "defunct", with a few still exisiting in the world... But it's been a very, very long, long time, since I have ridden on a (metal) Mad Mouse with it's original layout. Still... Looking forward to one "up there" lol.
Meteornotes Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 STAR JET @ CASINO PIER!!!!!! What? Too soon? Never too soon! Seriously though, I would have to say Eagle's Fortress. Such an amazing awesome ride, and I'm so bummed more people didn't get to experience it. My pick as well. The night ERT we had on it was among the greatest riding sessions I've ever experienced. dt
mark549 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Texas Cyclone also in their early days: Hercules Riverside Cyclone
SFOGdude25 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I gotta go with Viper at SFOG. It was one of my first looping coasters, and I recall that the bayou theming that went along with it was surprisingly really good for a Six Flags park. That ride was just all kinds of cool to me, and I got MANY laps on it when it was at both SFOG and SFKK. I'm just a big fan of shuttle loops really.
Rai Fox Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Big Bad Wolf is an easy #1 for this one, for me, but Drachen Fire's not too far behind.
cfc Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 ^I never shed any tears over Drachen Fire. Losing the Big Bad Wolf was more of a bummer, but Verbolten is an excellent replacement.
DougMJr Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Never got a chance to ride Big Bad Wolf, but Verbolten is excellent! Not the most intense ride out there, but it is a very very fun coaster.
mightypotato Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I haven't been on many defunct rides, but out of the few, I'd say I miss Big Bad Wolf the most. Well...it's more or less the winner by default since all the other defunct rides I've been on (i.e., Wildcat, BGT Python) weren't really all that good.
Mrlittle Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Favorite defunct roller coaster : All coasters at Six Flags AstroWorld. Favorite defunct ride : Horizons (Epcot)
historyfreak92 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Me too, I miss the Batman the Escape, my granma, & grandpa took me to Astroworld in May 1999, & guess what I was 7yrs old with some kind of infection that made me grew taller, & I was tall enough to ride to the Serial Thriller when it opened on may, & Astroworld makes me think of my Grandparents who took care of me!
coasterbill Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 GASM? When they got rid of this I was pretty excited because I figured whatever they put in it's place HAD to be better and less painful than Scream Machine. I guess not... Green Lantern sucks so much that I actually want that piece of crap Scream Machine back. A part of me always liked GASM even though it was horrible. No part of me likes Green Lantern. I'm just glad Great Adventure had the decency to put all of the bad rides in one corner of the park so I could easily avoid them. Other than the parachutes (which are stupid but I like them because they're unique) they could bulldoze every ride on the "boardwalk" and I wouldn't care at all.
Arrow Dynamics fan Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Coasters and flats that I had the pleasure to ride: -Orient Express -Tom's Twister -Acme Gravity Powered Roller Ride (Okay, stop laughing it was my first rollercoaster experience) -Hannibarrels (SBNO) Coasters and dark ride I didn't get to but would love to experience -Drachen Fire -The Bat -Son Of Beast (with the loop and using Premier trains) -Jet Scream -Big Bad Wolf -Batman and Robin: The Chiller -Shockwave/GASM (if I get to ride the Viper at SFMM, I will count it) -Jocco's Mardi Gras Madness (never went to Jazzland/SFNO but based on the video it looked interesting which is more than I can say for Scooby Doo or much, much, much worse Castaway Kids ) Ones I want see paying for eternity for its sins against me -Boomerangs (particularly the one from WOF which sparked my hatred for these coasters and the one St. Louis is getting for ruining everything) -The original Rattler -Mantis -Mean Streak -Spinning Dragons
bucsbassdrum Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 i would say the one coaster i'm glad is gone is viper from SFGA...worst coaster i was on..the one i miss the most would be High Speed Thrill Coaster. My first coaster i was ever on and i wish my kids could have rode that one as well. the do enjoy kozmos kurves though
SmokiesFriend Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Not having may coasters under my belt, I will say that my 'flat' ride was Round Up. As an improvement they turned it into Moonraker...sort of.
rollin_n_coastin Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 i would say the one coaster i'm glad is gone is viper from SFGA...worst coaster i was on..the one i miss the most would be High Speed Thrill Coaster. My first coaster i was ever on and i wish my kids could have rode that one as well. the do enjoy kozmos kurves though I totally forgot about High Speed Thrill Coaster! I think I would want this back over any of the Jersey Shore coasters in the ocean.
Astrojack Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 At the time I was upset when Kennywood announced the removal of the Steel Phantom. Just the thoughts of riding it now make me cringe, same with Drachen Fire. But my favorite ones would either be Big Bad Wolf, Wild Cat, or Disaster Transport. I enjoyed all three and was sad to see them go.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Oddly enough, even though I've only been on 30 coasters, 10 of those are now defunct. The one roller coaster whose demise I mourn is Ozark Wildcat at Celebration City. Parts of it are being used on Outlaw Run, though, so it's not completely lost. The one I'm happiest about seeing go is Rattler at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and I'm even happier about its replacement. When next we're in Texas, we'll have to drop by and say hi.
fraroc Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Techically not defunct, just someplace in Europe.... Lazer at Dorney Park was one of the best roller coasters I have ever been on.
Jew Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Sentimental pick: Wacky Soap Box Racers. Grew up with that ride! Enthusiast pick: Eagle's Fortress. Ridiculous ride for a suspended. So much fun!
