Yeah that's great that its optional, but you know its going to slow down loading significantly on the coasters that have it.

Yea that was my thought immediately. I can't speak for the other parks, but the loading for Superman at NE is already very slow. Adding these headsets is sure to make them slower still.

I can see it already.

"How do I put this thing on?"

"Ewww someone puked in this one"

"Can I wear mine backwards?"

Two seconds before dispatch: "No I don't want this thing on!"

Also, two words: pink eye.

Are these connected to the trains via a wire? If not how long til one of them goes flying off a train?

A safety lanyard, plus it has an overhead strap and a chin strap according to the FAQ. I wore the overhead version at Everland and even without the chinstrap and lanyard it seemed quite secure.

^ I'm all for technology, just not VR on coasters, especially not at Six Flags parks, known for their *stellar* operations.

On one hand, I'm glad that it is SF "leading the way" with giving this a shot- is it for me? Probably not....but neither is the carnival ride on the lake that's under construction (damn I said it again!)

That said- because it is SF leading the way...out come the bashers!

- If it were Disney who made this announcement today, then XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

- CP- same thing!

- SF- "this is stupid, it will slow down lines," etc.......

I know people will see me as the antichrist for this, but if any coaster is to get VR in the future, it's probably Skull Mountain. It would make the most sense since it is in the dark already and would boost ridership.

I'm personally not a fan of VR, but I will give it a shot and am glad that it is totally optional.

Apparently this technology will make assigned seating necessary on Superman at Six Flags New England. I really hope we never get this as I assume that will be the policy across the board with VR coasters at Six Flags parks.

Although the VR Technology on coasters seems cool, Im not a fan of it. Yes, the technology is cool and all with doing whatever you are doing, but it totally kills the point of coasters. Coasters are meant to experience the thrill and actually seeing the thrills ahead of you and the scenary around you! I mean on Superman @ SFA the lift is pretty much the only place in the park where you can get an amazing view of the whole park! The VR kills all of that. Some of the stuff may not make sense but i just am not a fan of the VR on coasters

I think for SFA specifically this isn't a bad idea. Superman rarely ever has more than a few trains wait and the park desperately needs something new in terms of thrill rides. The ride is pretty predictable so I don't think k

Motion sickness would be much of an issue. It's also optional, so I don't see any argument for how it defeats the purpose of a coaster.

For the other parks though I agree it's stupid. I'd like to try it once and see how it turns out but I could definitely see capacity take a hit.

I think it would be better to have three or four consecutive rows be Virtual Reality Rows, while the rest are normal.

Of course it would have, that's what cedar Fair did. But... Six Flags.

Y'all do know they are optional, right? Nothing is ever wrong with choice.

+1..Can't seem to make some happy, even though they are OPTIONAL.

Uhhh OK guys I'll quote the post I made yesterday since you guys seemed to have missed it and apparently just want to complain about the fact that I have an opinion different than yours.

Yeah that's great that its optional, but you know its going to slow down loading significantly on the coasters that have it.

I don't think having a gripe about THE SLOW LOADING is unreasonable as it is absolutely inevitable with these headsets. If you don't think it will be you are delusional.

And honestly, I don't really care. I am happy. I'm happy we are not getting it here. For now.

I agree, people can barely follow the directions/rules for a ride as it is. Adding these headsets will definitely slow down the process.

You're not understanding. Yes... the headsets are optional, but along with them nobody has their choice of seat. Many parks are getting this on their best coaster so let's say for the sake of argument we get this on El Toro. The issue isn't that some people are wearing headsets, it's that if I don't want to wear one somebody is going to tell me to go ride in row 3 and I can no longer choose to sit in the back car which is much better.

That's the issue, loss of preferred seating. I don't care about the VR. I care that it's causing us to lose preferred seating on coasters that have always had it which is a big deal for anyone who doesn't want to use the VR.

What Cedar Fair did was dedicate middle rows which nobody wants anyway to VR which is a great idea since with VR it doesn't really matter where you sit. the back and front rows however were not VR and you had choice of seat as those are the rows people who aren't using VR want to sit in. That is the sensible way to do things.

On the plus side, I don't see this lasting more than one season so you all have a chance at getting your seats back!

I agree with those of you that see problems with this. I posted about the safety issue in the SFMM thread and there are other issues as well. I just don't see the benefits outweighing the costs on this one.

Hopefully it works better than we all think it will. I just don't see it working at these big parks with big teenage populations coming in.

I'll give it 2 months tops before half the equipment is destroyed, damaged or covered in graffiti/gum.

I personally just hope this happens well before SF starts considering GAdv for it.
