Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Agree. If Great Adventure gets this I would think it would end up on Nitro but I hate that idea too because I like to choose my seat. To be honest the common sense application for this is Skull Mountain during Holiday in the Park but that makes far too much sense for them to actually consider (that being said though I still want to be able to choose a seat... aka the back one).

Honestly I don't think this makes sense for Great Adventure at all during the regular season. They need to worry about rolling trains as fast as they can (they're better at it than just about every park in the chain). With the crowds they get, anything that slows that down is probably a bad idea.

I'll be honest they deserve some credit for making this free and trying to improve guest experience. I won't knock it without trying it but my concern is just about preferred seating. I don't think this is worth giving that up. Besides that though I do applaud Six Flags for trying to innovate and improve guest experience.

We need them to have some common sense like Cedar Fair does. If you add something optional it shouldn't have a significant negative impact on the people that choose not to use it (ie assigned seating on coasters that have never had assigned seating) I don't understand how that's a difficult concept to grasp.

I don't mind small concessions like slightly longer dispatch times but I do mind major ones when they can easily be avoided with a little common sense.

So I was complimenting them on their desire to innovate but questioning some of their methods.

What I don't get is why they are putting them on the Superman Hypers that don't need VR. If anything put it on a coaster that needs it. Superman at NE was just changed back from Bizzaro and they slap this VR on it right away. CAN WE JUST GET SUPERMAN BACK WITH NO GIMMICKS.

Ok, from my guy in the park. There is no assigned seating in the train per Se. Also, you'll put these on well before the loading station. So all you'll have to do is put the headset down once the seatbelt is clicked in. Very little delay. I'll bellyache with the rest of you if he is wrong, and my survey will show it.

I totally have to agree with most of the posts on this thread opposed to VR. I really can't say that this will benefit major coasters in any way. It honestly does not make a difference to me on coasters like Ninja or Screamin Demon, but it gets to be a problem when it goes onto major rides. Six Flags should be striving to hasten dispatch times, not the opposite. If there is one area that Cedar Fair blows SF away in by far, it's this, and quite frankly it's an easy fix.

It really doesn't make much sense from a business standpoint to do this either. It's not upcharge, and I predict it will cost more to run than what the parks will get out of it. I don't care how safe and clean SF claims they are. How will they be able to keep these headsets running when they have trouble keeping fog machines running for more than a year? It's only a matter of time before an incident occurs.

And I am totally against assigned seating anywhere. The people using VR should be automatically assigned to the middle rows, because they won't be "experiencing" the true ride anyways. Don't punish the people who like traditional rides by forcing them to sit in seats where they don't want to. I'm a huge back seat rider, and seating does make a huge difference to me on most coasters. I wouldn't be satisfied or maybe even return to some parks if they did this to me.

Not assigned seating, though I agree with some of what u r saying. You brought up the business aspect. Well, whether intended or not, SFA has gotten some publicity on one of our major morning news shows. That will help bring folks in. So, from a business standpoint, it may actually be a smart move. All that will go down the toilet if one of those flies off and busts someone in the dome. Then they'll have to pay a lawsuit, negating any profit made.

^ I can't recall an announcement that's gotten such consistent negative feedback. I'm actually kind of impressed.

I'm assuming you didn't pay much attention to the Valravn announcement?

Two words:

Looping Dragon

Did someone mention a carnival ride?????

I guess I'm the only one a little bummed this isn't coming to SFGAdv. Namtab was also something that killed capacity and was super gimmicky and everybody seemed pretty stoked about that. Yes capacity will be a nightmare, yes it will only be worth doing once or twice, yes there may be (gasp!) assigned seating, but gosh darn it it's awesome and different and I'm totally willing to make the trip just to try it.

Heck, I'd be more excited for this then I am for the new coaster. As it is you're not getting me anywhere near SFGAdv this year.

^Its not like the park is going to being inherently worse than last season, so why would an addition you don't like make you specifically want to stay away from the park? I've never understood this perspective. If you like the park, go visit. Nobody's forcing you to ride the new coaster (or bash it in every single one of your posts...).

See, that's the thing. I don't like the park. I tend to go every other year at the most. Given the amazing experience I had last year, I hope to abstain for 2 years this time, maybe 3. No one has any reason to care about this but you did ask.

I tried to make sense of this, but I just couldn't. "I don't like the park." So. . . "I tend to go every other year at the most." But... "Given the amazing experience I had last year, I hope to abstain for 2 years this time, maybe 3." . . . . WHAT?

So you DON'T like the park, but you still tend to go to the park, and you had an amazing experience, so you hope you don't go back for maybe 3 years?? Am I the only one who thinks this makes no sense??

After trying to figure out the weird "love/hate relationship with the park" post. . .
