Tanks4me05 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 After seeing ads for this company's (Polin; it's a Turkish-based waterslide company) I've always been wondering why we haven't had any slides from them stateside; they looked quite the unique addition to any park. I'm happy that not only is this coming to a park stateside, but we're going to the park for New Hotness!
coasterfreak101 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 The very last double tube they show in that video goes FLYING over that drop. Consider me excited - I'll have to actually make a trip over to HH this year I think!
alilstronger Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 This slide looks like a BLAST!!!!!! I will have to get up there and actually go to their water park after this opens.
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I'm not big on water parks, but this thing looks awesome!
cal1br3tto Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I recall admiring this design when it first came out. Glad to see plans for an installation. Sounds like it will be a hit!
nitro4ever Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I was hoping for a double looping drop box waterslide of awesomeness but this seems cool too. I vaguely remember looking at concept art for this thing when Polin came out with it a few years ago. I was wondering when they would start showing up at parks.
Ace Of Spades Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 A racing boomerang slide! Why hasn't anyone thought of this before? I'd kill for something like that to come to the left coast! It just looks absolutely awesome!
screaminkid2005 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 That looks awesome! I went on the half pipe at SFA the year it opened and I thought it was great! I can't wait to check this ride out when it opens!!!
ECZenith Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 A racing boomerang slide! Why hasn't anyone thought of this before? I'd kill for something like that to come to the left coast! It just looks absolutely awesome! Don't worry, I'm sure if it does well in Jersey you will soon get one in Valencia. I love the look to this slide, and good to see so much positive attention to it hear in this thread. Between this and the Star Flyer gadv is certainly being generous with the thrills this year! Bravo! (Wouldn't mind a wingrider next year though SFGAdv
Geauga Dog Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I remember seeing this on Polin's website and hoped that an American water park would add one. It really stands out from what is out there and looks stunning.
joco07 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I don't get why Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Texas has not made their HUGE announcement for their new ride. Under the "more news' tab it states "New for 2012, Dive Bomber, a 5-story free fall experience that will leave you breathless!" So why isn't there an announcement or any news about it. The front page of their site doesn't have any info on it ether? Strange... www.sixflags.com/hurricaneHarborTexas/info/news.aspx
chargersmichael Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 This sounds awesome...does anyone know where it will be located in HH?? OMG I WANT TO GO ON THIS SO BAD!!!!
nannerdw Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Was the video sped up at 1:05? That looked like some serious airtime
nhman93 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) King Cobra is scheduled to open this summer in lieu of the Dive Bomber drop capsule. For more information, visit http://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure. Does this mean they will not be adding the Dive Bomber to the speed slide as announced in September? I would love to have both but saving money for next year will be great! Edited February 14, 2012 by robbalvey
PSiRockin Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Nice, this is great! It seems to be pretty unique, just what the park needed.
galindoverhere Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Pretty Sweet! I've never been to the SFGAD Hurricane Harbor, but I might try it out this year, and see how it's turns out to be! This ride just encouraged me to go visit it as well, so it looks pretty sweet... can't wait to check it out!
jps294 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Siebeneicher did not release the cost for the project, but said the fiberglass serpent would be built on the center island of Hurricane Harbor and take the place of an existing, sandy volleyball pit. http://www.app.com/article/20120213/NJNEWS/302130052/Snake-shaped-water-slide-to-open-at-Six-Flags
nymgb44 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 And to think I was about to stop renewing my season pass...it seems the post-Shapiro era is set to be a good one for SFGAdv. A couple more solid flats next year, and then we can start talking about another coaster. This slide (especially if it ends up on the central island) is a magnificent addition to HH, far better than any dropbox would have been. I hope that never happens and we continue to see innovative additions like King Cobra going forward.
kunpc1 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I think this is the exact type of theming more water parks need to incorporate. Forget the plain old fiberglass slides, this is something that will definitely catch the eyes of both the enthusiast and the general public.
Hockeydad Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 That really does look like an awesome addition for any park! Kudos to SFGAdv...I'm not much for waterparks either, but this would get me to visit. When is the last time a waterslide was so visually stunning at that.
rcdude Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 This certainly looks like a pretty good ride. I'm guessing it will have more appeal than a trapdoor slide would have. The only thing that could potentially be a problem is capacity, as halfpipe slides tend to have slow moving lines. Other than that, defintely looks like something worth trying if I ever get around to visiting this waterpark, and the theming design for it should make the ride much more attractive than most standard slides.
SharkTums Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 This whole thing doesn't seem weird to anyone else?!!? Didn't they announce a real manufacturer adding the Drop Pod onto one of their slides back in the fall? If that fell through why not get that manufacturer to supply a slide? Why did they go with some random Eastern European company? I'm assuming it's a cost thing, but this all seems a bit odd to me. Add in the fact that it has an old school halfpipe finale which will kill capacity and I just don't get it!
