DarwinAwards2016 Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Pinks is delicious. Mean Streak's top hat will be pretty great too.
Philrad71 Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 ^ Fine. You're young. Me. I'm old. It'll happen to you, eventually. All kidding aside, I totally understand the total riding and scheduling of such a visit. But that's why I am going to enjoy a three day's visit, there. More time to enjoy the food & "beverages"! YUM to BBQ & Brew; Pinks; Famous Dave's...anything else I should know about? And it's okay, I am an occasional TGIF fan (at Breakers), so that's fine, too. Bill - try the cheese fries at some point. I have not tried the garlic, but I will the next time I visit. I like the stand across from Gemini as it usually doesn't get too crowded with lines, but I think that there are two other locations towards the front of the park that pretty much serve the same ones. One on the main midway near Raptor and one over by Windseeker. CP Fries
bluestreak Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Fries with buffalo dipping sauce is the way to go.

If you have a big appetite, hit the Midway Market. It's sort of like a smaller Golden Corral if you are familiar with that chain. Not the cheapest or best place to eat at CP but the selection is usually good. Plus it's air conditioned which is great for hot days after standing in lines for hours.
coasterbill Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Oh god, the Midway Market people are here. That place absolutely blows. It's expensive and it's terrible. Just go to Famous Dave's. It's about the same price and it's so much better (and it's a better place to sit).
anonymouscactus Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I wouldn't call it expensive when any meal in the park is $10 + $5 drink. Midway Market is usually $16 and includes unlimited freestyle and unlimited food. Yes I prefer Famous Dave's but compared to the other swill in the park it's alright.

I mean, its a Perkins so its nothing special but the food we had was pretty good and while the joint was packed, service was fast and we were in and out in flash, giving us more time in the park. The TGIF in there is OK too, good for a late night beverage after the park closes. I think there is (was?) a Hibachi Grill @ Breaks too but we never made it.
coasterkid124 Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 My friends dragged me into Midway Market last year. It all looked good when I walked in, but most of the food ended up being dry and average. Not to mention I'm kind of a picky eater when it comes to the international stuff, and watching the salty foods. I ended up scouring the kiddie section and the desert bar

We didn't realize it at first but all Cedar Fair picnic area food tastes the same and we realized it as soon as we had a bite of the burger. Then after thinking about it for a few more minutes we realized that it backs up to the picnic areas and they obviously had to have a kitchen capable of churning out a ton of food all at once anyway and decided they might as well add a crappy buffet. It's honestly kind of brilliant on their part. I don't fault them at all, but I'm not a fan. I wouldn't call it expensive when any meal in the park is $10 + $5 drink. That's fair I guess, their food as a whole is awful. I kind of forget since I usually avoid and stick to the franchises they brought in.
PhantomNick Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 That's fair I guess, their food as a whole is awful. I kind of forget since I usually avoid and stick to the franchises they brought in. And FOOD TRUCKS!! Can't forget the food trucks, haha! If they keep that up, Labor Day weekends might become an annual tradition for us visiting the Point!! Seriously though, those things were awesome last year! Totally agreed on their food as a whole though. Franchises are just about the only safe bet there, really.
coasterbill Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Labor Day weekend is always our go-to. First of all it works out well with our work schedules, second of all it's always passholder appreciation weekend with passholder ERT Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (this coming year on Dragster and Magnum on Friday, Millennium Force and Rougarou on Saturday and Valravn on Sunday) and now with the food trucks it makes it an even better time to go.
DILinator Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 ^ Fine. You're young. Me. I'm old. It'll happen to you, eventually. This is SO true with me! Just a handful of years ago, I almost never ate at CP, and went hard the whole day. Now, a trip is all about a leisurely route through the park, complete with food, drink, and an occasional show. Age definitely changes things! As for the food, my go-to last year, was the Parmesan Garlic fresh cut fries, and I think that will continue to be a staple. They are SO good! Brew and BBQ was also amazing, and will probably be when I make one of my few visits this year! Oh god, the Midway Market people are here. That place absolutely blows. It's expensive and it's terrible. Just go to Famous Dave's. It's about the same price and it's so much better (and it's a better place to sit). Agreed! Midway Market is just... Ugh!
storms555 Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I do actually enjoy Johny Rocket's although I didnt have it at CP but at Great America one time and had it at a food court in a hotel at Las Vegas. Its a neat little fast food place although I never noticed one outside of amusement parks or tourist attractions/areas. Is there JR's in normal areas? Also that Parm. fries sound good too. I never had CP's but I had Parm. fries at a pizza place before they are really good.
boldikus Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Yes there are Johnny Rockets all over, and they are mediocre both in and outside of parks.
coasterbill Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I wish I still had the tolerance that I used to have for greasy, sh*t food but I really don't. The thought of eating Johnny Rocket's at a theme park (or anywhere else for that matter) is just awful to me. I'm no health nut (especially not when I'm at a park... give me baked stuff like Cinnamon Bread or Waffle De Lys all day) but Johnny Rocket's is just complete sh*t.
boldikus Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Ive actually only ever had Johnny Rockets outside of parks and have always been a bit underwhelmed by it, so I have never bothered to try it inside a park because it couldn't possibly be better than the non-park locations. Besides, the Johnny Rockets @ GreatAdv area always packed anyway.
jconsolmagno Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 The chicken place that replaced Chic-Fil-A at Cedar Point is fantastic. Go there every visit.
Superbatboy Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I wish amusement parks had Fuddruckers, love that place!
Cavs Fan Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I feel like every 20 or so pages this discussion pops up. I'd like to add to my contributions to last time. In addition to TGIFridays and Famous Dave's, I have to mention cheese on a stick. Delicious. They chips they sell though are kinda trash, IMO. I don't think you can get away with only getting a cheese on a stick without getting a "meal".
Nrthwnd Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 (edited) ...Are you guys staying at Breakers? Yes we are, so I am definitely keeping the in-hotel places in mind (like Perkins and TGIF) for food and drink, when we're not in the park. And Famous Dave's of course. coasterlvr Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I wish amusement parks had Fuddruckers, love that place! i could only imagine the markup for one of those.
CaptainUnknown Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I wish amusement parks had Fuddruckers, love that place! i could only imagine the markup for one of those. Agreed, I just don't think the concept of Fuddruckers would work all that well inside the park. On property would be another story.
JT325 Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I'm surprised Chick-fil-A didn't work out. They're very popular in Ohio. Not a fan myself, but ... it's ok in a pinch. Heck, I would rather have McDonalds. Somehow nastier yet tastier.
