  1. Just like WT, IF they remove it, I won't lose any sleep over it. While I enjoy just about any launch coaster and enjoyed both of these, there were several visits where I skipped them both to ride what I considered the better coasters at the park. It will be interesting to see what they have up their sleeve, regardless.
  2. Hey Bill! Hope all is well...long time, no talk!
  3. Hey guys...good to see you here. I am back after a hiatus as well. Just trying to reassemble my life is all. lol Excited to hear about the new coaster - looks like it should be a lot of fun!
  4. I'd love to see them move the Tilt-A-Whirl out of the kiddie area. I think that would look great on the new Boardwalk, or maybe they could move it where the Scrambler or Matterhorn is now. I always thought that having it in the kiddie area was a bit strange as it's so out of the way that most people don't even realize that the park has one, unless they have kids.
  5. I like the boardwalk theme and the idea of the restaurant and bar with views. It will be interesting to see what they do with the area where Himalaya and Scrambler are now. Not much room there, so it would need to be a fairly small-ish attraction. I'm sure they'll think of something though as they know space is always a premium on the peninsula. Would love to see them bring back the double ferris wheel on the boardwalk with a cool lighting package.
  6. I think it's certainly an interesting looking coaster. Definitely want to try this new hybrid track and while not as fast (or somewhat violent) as Prowler, it should be a decent ride for families and the GP that remembers and loved the original.
  7. Think that they could do something similar to Steel Dragon and get updated trains?
  8. I guess the big announcement is coming tomorrow for 2023. Hopefully a shiny new coaster!
  9. I was there a few years ago and Boulder's line moved horrendously slow with one train operation then. Granted, I waited the extra time for the front, but it was still a long wait just to get into the station from the bridge. I am also sorry to hear that it's falling apart. I do remember that my 2nd trip there, I found it to be a lot rougher than the first trip there (about 6/7 years ago). It was still a great ride though and I am not a fan of violent wooden coasters.
  10. 1) Do you intend to visit parks as soon as they open? Unfortunately, no. 2) What is your reasoning for your choice? See Robb's Sea World report. I want to do a 'wait and see' approach. As others have mentioned, the stupidity of other people worries me. I have to go back to work next Monday and I am already worried about it because we are now starting to see spikes in cases in MO from Memorial Day and the protests. I also live with someone that is high risk and I have high BP, so we're continuing the social distancing thing and have no problem with waiting a while to go to a park. As Zach mentioned, going to a park is a time to de-stress, not the opposite. 3) Are there any stipulations that would change your mind? As others have mentioned, a vaccine and people not being stupid. But I fear that neither is going to come to fruition any time soon.
  11. I was afraid of guests pulling off their masks once inside the gates and not following the rules. I hope that the park will get better with their operations as well as enforcing the park rules. As you said, if Disney and Universal are doing it right, they need to benchmark them. I will be interested to see how your next visit goes...hopefully much better!
  12. Discovery Kingdom is one of the parks that I would really like to visit one day. Thanks for sharing!!
  13. Hopefully this will operate longer than their Topple Tower did. And hopefully people will be able to find it within the park as I am sure that there won't be another ride located within a half mile of it.
  14. So glad to hear this! I didn't expect Disney to disappoint (I knew they wouldn't), but wasn't sure if people would be 100% respectful of the rules set into place. Luckily most of the idiots didn't want to go if they had to socially distance or wear masks, so at least there's that. I'll give you guys kudos for weeding them out on your Facebook page too!
  15. I have heard that a couple of the county fairs where I used to live in NY and PA were cancelled as well.
  16. Not sure if I see CF going "all-in" with adding new coasters/thrill rides in order to keep up with the other parks in the Midwest. I don't see WoF in competition with SDC or SFStL, so I wouldn't think that they would be too concerned if Adventureland gets a new coaster, or if a new park opens in Waterloo. WoF and Valleyfair seem more like regional parks to their city rather than a destination park. They draw mostly from their local market and keep things fairly simple. With that said, I would love it if WoF got a shiny, new coaster...but I am not going to hold my breath for anything crazy.
  17. Now that I am closer, I really want to visit this park in the future...have always wanted to visit.
  18. I was pleasantly surprised by Mamba after moving to KC last year. By far the best coaster at WoF. While I had a great first ride on Prowler, the next three were very jarring and rough. I agree with you in that while it's a decent ride, it's not really worth high praises. Maybe in it's inaugural season when most woodies tend to run their best? I'd still like to get back to HW to see if I could sneak one of those good rides on Voyage that I see/hear people talk about.
  19. Obviously there will be tremendous challenges for all parks this year, but it's just nice to hear some good news for a change. Looking forward to visiting this park again in the future!
  20. Wow - I never knew that about Little Richard. Sounds like he definitely had some real conflict going on in his life....or he had a really bad gay experience so decided to come out against us all as a result. Yikes. Jerry Stiller - dead at 92. I have been binge-watching Seinfeld during this pandemic and just watched the Festivus episode last week. Too funny! LINK
  21. ^ LOVE me some queso fresco!! Just got me some of that a couple of weeks ago...it goes great in enchiladas.
  22. While I never got a chance to ride Drachen Fire, I have to say that the overview shot highlights some of the really awkward looking transitions. I could see where you could really have some headbanging or 'OUCH' moments! Thanks for sharing, John!
  23. Good job, Bert! It can't be easy doing that during such a stressful time. Congrats!
