Tanabata Days returns to Tokyo Disney Resort this summer with seasonal greetings, decorations, food, and merchandise. The extended event will run June 7 until July 7, 2018.
Tanabata or “Star Festival” is a Japanese celebration which marks the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi. Legend says the two lovers (a/k/a/ Minnie & Mickey) are separated by the Milky Way and are only able to meet on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
Tanabata Days is a great opportunity to see Disney characters take part in a uniquely Japanese event and buy souvenirs of Mickey and friends in traditional dress.
Tokyo Disney Resort used to host the event for just one week but has extended it over the years, so in 2018 it will run for a whole month.
Sorry to do this to you Elissa, but.... V ... And it's a lovely time of year to visit, too! We were there with TPR in 2013 and with all the decorations and souvenirs and food available for the event...really something special for me.
Off topic but with Black Panther doing so well in theaters, do y'all think it would be possible to see a land based off of Wakanda at the speculated third gate?

^ Right now, I think there's too much speculation (i.e. rumors) on whether it's an actual Third Gate for the resort, or just a continuation of expanding the two already existing parks, beyond what they're already doing.
I am hoping that whatever they announce in May, includes news about this future project(s).
"Soarin’ is now a massive covered building that is quite prominent with the Tokyo DisneySea skyline. This attraction is set to open for Fiscal 2019 (no official date yet)." ~ Photo and quote from www.tdrexplorer.com Thanks!
http://www.tdrexplorer.com has just posted info. about the parade starting April 15 ~ Dreaming Up!. This includes souvenir merchandise for the parade being offered. Merchandise is available Apr.10.
Here's a PIN; a FILE FOLDER (true!); and a POSTCARD. All available at Grand Emporium in DL. And anything with a PEGASUS on it in full flight, is fine by me! (o: (*Merch may appear LARGER than it really is - i.e The PIN.)
If anyone is heading to the Tokyo Disney Resort soon, and wants to get their hands (eventually) on any musical soundtracks /cds that they must have - at most any cost, lol....
This shop in the World Bazaar, at least back in 2013 when we were there, had the soundtracks on an entire RACK, for both parks. Which is how I found another copy of (then the original cd of) BIG BAND BEAT, and that's a show in DisneySea! All of the (then) current parade soundtracks available too, I remember.
Worth checking out either into the park, or coming out of Disneyland.
P.S. If the store doesn't stock soundtrack CDs anymore, or it's all moved to a different store, I would love to know, thanks!
Besides cards, they had soundtrack CDs of BOTH PARKS, too! TPR 2013 Japan Tour.
