  1. I do miss the collection of coasters --- and if people have a bad experience on the site they have every right to criticize it, especially if their work has been judged harshly. If you give it, you better be willing to take it. Something tells me Hansixx was being called out? No? Incredible coasters, but I think he did make fun of people for using 3DS. I didn't upload anything because I didn't have any good tools. Still would like to invest in them. Oh well -- MY beef with the site was that my login wouldn't work, they wouldn't answer back -- it was a very oversensitive login process. I realize people can cheat with rating etc. but some of us just wanted to download coasters and aren't so involved in the process. Some of us aren't off the deep end If they are rude, serves them right for not being well liked or being unpopular. THAT's life. J. p.s. total lol btw for the person who said that coaster community was exactly like real life. NO COASTER FORUM ON THE PLANET has any big connection to reality: pseudonyms, hyper-focusing on some nerdy experience. Come on! Life is far broader.
  2. Yaaay! This is how I feel too. MIB is nice, but this is so much better.
  3. Robb, Please, please don't compare this to Monster's Inc.! I have my beef with Disney, I think there is really no decent leadership at the company, but its a step above monster's inc. it really is. I went in thinking this ride was going to suuuuuuck. I'm surprised at how addictive it is. I can't wait for it to soft open and hit the single rider queue. Will I loose interest? Of course. Its like a video game. Eventually, you need to buy/play new ones. Of course, because its a competitive game, it should attract a certain ilk. I guess I've resolved myself not to expect too much from WDI. Ever since Walt passed on, the quality of parks and attractions have been lower and lower. I don't count Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea too much because its taken the wisdom and investment of a whole 'nother company for Disney (and OLC) to put out a quality product. Maybe its good to be disappointed or have a low bar -- you might like TSMM! Jose "WDI is clueless" Eber
  4. ^Anything funded by the OLC probably will kick arse (although our tower is awesome-r!!!) As the videographer of this youtube video, and having ridden it half a dozen times, let me just say this: its addicting. And believe me, I have problems with the ride, but it ain't in where most people are complaining oddly enough. Robb, you are right, it is something you can play with a Wii. And as a huge fan of Wii Sports, I can definitely say that its very much like the shooting range game. That said, the graphics and design are very 'pixar' in quality (read: good) and have a degree of interactivity the aforementioned Wii game does not (i.e. when you practice shoot, characters wince if you hit them in the face etc.) What's missing in the video is the feel of the ride vehicle -- its a lot of fun. imagine being on a wild mouse type ride in between games. its crazy. The video DOES NOT show the queue in its entirety or the really fun load and unload (with 9 stations! no tower!). There is a lot that is missing. Although I got permission from a manager to film it, some cast weren't informed and were giving me a hard time. Now, is this ride really entertaining? Not terribly. Its kind of like a hot video game. You play it a lot, if its up your alley, but get frustrated and eventually look for something else. One thing I HATE is when you are with another good player at the final scene. The frame rates drop big time. My advice, play with an idiot, or someone who is physically disabled, and let them have the normal console while you take the one with a special but simple button (point-age!) Rude, I know, sorry. I think the attraction is well designed. There is crap everywhere in and around the attraction. The floors are done nicely, the walls, everything is high quality and used as a space to create an environment. Its not as loaded as buzz in the #3D department but we aren't shooting for an E ticket here anyways. Its a solid D imo. If I directed you to the HD version, would that be of interest? 200 mb High Definition Version J. Here are some little know facts Disney has released about the new Toy Story Midway Mania attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Each ride vehicle weighs as much as 8,580 Woody dolls. It would take 5,026 toy soldiers lined up end-to-end to make up the total track length. Toy Story Mania! is the first time that Walt Disney Imagineering is creating an attraction for two Disney Parks simultaneously. It has been estimated that, each day, guests may break over one million virtual plates using the spring-action shooters. Riders in the Sky, the award winning group that wrote the songs that Mr. Potato Head performs as part of the attraction, is the same group that wrote “Woody’s Roundup” for the “Toy Story” feature films. This is the first attraction that Walt Disney Imagineering designed where the Imagineers had to wear 3-D glasses to art direct all the black-light paint elements. The murals located in the load area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are the biggest murals painted since Epcot was built. In order to create a show that responds not only to every pull of a guest’s spring-action shooter, but also every move their midway tram makes, there are over 150 computers communicating over multiple networks throughout the attraction. At Toy Story Mania! every guest gets to experience life at the size of a toy. So in Andy’s room, a 5 foot 6 inch person will feel about 14″ tall. More time was spent programming Mr. Potato Head than for any other Audio-Animatronics figure ever created by Walt Disney Imagineering. Mr. Potato Head will be able to say more lines of dialogue than any Audio-Animatronics figure ever created by Walt Disney Imagineering. The Mr. Potato Head Audio-Animatronics figure is the first time that an Audio-Animatronics figure can remove a body part and re-attach it (in the case of his ear). The Mr. Potato Head Audio-Animatronics figure has new, highly expressive and animated eyes that can look directly at a particular guest in the queue when speaking to him/her. Mr. Potato Head marks the first Audio-Animatronics figure whose mouth appears to form words and vowel sounds. Game: In each of the Toy Story Mania! games, there is at least one “easter egg” — targets that can trigger the appearance of bonus high-value targets and other changes in the scene. Toy Story Mania! is the first time that Woody and Buzz Lightyear (along with some of their friends) from the Disney-Pixar “Toy Story” films appear together in a ride-through attraction. Watch for loose change in the prize scene — Hamm is carrying more than $6 in coins when his cork pops. Nice to Know: Because of the indoor nature of the attraction and to keep the guest experience fun for all, flash photography or video is not allowed on Toy Story Mania! Everyone can play! There is no height or age restriction for guests to experience Toy Story Mania! Actual ride time aboard Toy Story Mania! is a full five minutes. Ready, aim, fire! Players have 30 seconds in each game play area to score points. A beeline to fun! Toy Story Mania! utilizes Disney’s FASTPASS, a return voucher offering little or no waiting time at select attractions. Single riders also have their own queuing option for Toy Story Mania!
  5. HD footage of the fire and the podcast version is up. Subscribe for the fun kids (file too large for this site). edit: use www link below
  6. ^^Not even worth a thread? Hmm....first major fire on Disney Property ever, and during a drought and it isn't contained. If its not worth a thread, its not worth a reply then is it? p.s. regarding the poll: not everything is serious, gawd forbid.
  7. And Its not like people at Epcot couldn't see this: From the parking lot:
  8. Keep in mind this was started an hour before park close -- so I'm sure they weren't too worried. Tropical storms do create wind.
  9. Major fire started by a car fire north of Epcot's parking lot and monorail line this evening at 8:00. This is not the fire at the intersection of 192 and the new toll road which has affected AK for a few days now. Some say there was also lightning involved (?!) Pics: View from Contemporary. View from Swan View from Dolphin For more images go to: Disney Fire Fotos I have footage from Contemporary, Swan and Dolphin coming up on my podcast soon.
  10. Alright, bandwidth back on, downloading is available again -- Also, re encoded the Splash Mountain HD video -- the file size is just a little smaller, but it runs a LOT more smoothly on a slower CPU. J. DisneyHD
  11. ahhh, that might explain an added surge in activity. Thanks for the compliments. Might have to libsyn soon.
  12. I DID get hit! My glasses were totally wet, I had to aim the lens down -- the rest of the camera got nice and wet! My first Splash was Disneyland -- right when they added the seperators (not when they widened the back). Both are great rides.
  13. Thanks very much for the compliments Paul -- if its any consolation -- Disneyland's is a bit different?
  14. Glad you liked it. Expect something once a month, and next year more from Disney resorts around the world. J.
  15. Podcast and HD version of a Splash Mountain ride through is up. There is a long walk /ride from the train depot, so feel free to skip it, its for folks who want more of an ambient experience. Click here to download Podcast size is large -- roughly 100 mb. HD version is roughly 200 mb.
  16. My bad, it works now. J. (p.s. the podcast works though for you right?)
  17. Erik: Maybe I'll upload a hi-def of the Yeti itself, and put it on the other page... That should fit, and will be quicker than Apple's server.
  18. I'd upload the files, but they are too big for this page (nearly 8 min vid). Walk through of an empty stand by queue and ride through of an empty EE. No annoying screamers. Includes 'B' show of Yeti. If you want a smaller size, hit the subscribe icon at the bottom of the page, and your iTunes should download it (a podcast size) immediately (40+ megs). Click here to download
  19. Um "the bird" has a name stupids2! Its Shaniqua Chantall, and she's there to scare other birds off the twisted mangled track. I havn't riden the thing in a while -- but part of me wants to go tomorrow late -- NIGHT RIDE...errr....!! (you see the yeti a lot better)
  20. Are you going to be at a resort? Check out their little flyer they give out for the week (or is it everyday). If not, ask someone at guest services -- I would just say go for it...but look at the board before you head over there -- if the ride is posted, its running (no point going all the way back there). J.
  21. The Everest Disney World Podcast featuring the New York stunt is up. http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=124803299&s=143441
  22. Great pics as usual! J. EdIT: I saw that too -- but didn't comprehend...good job.
  23. Here is some of the construction around Everest. I do not know what the boards are up or why to the left of the attraction (more queue space? please?!) To the right, tearing down the house (of Tarzan). J.
  24. I just noticed that the other day -- maybe because tarzan is gone. But CRAZY how tight those tolerances are. Was at the roof of the contemp. last night - you can see Everest from there. (the views from blizzard beach will be interesting...) J.
