My guess is that WDI is stretched pretty thin with Shanghai and the other projects on the books right now, so getting things done to TDS standards would be more costly than a typical development cycle.

If this was ever going to be a reality at any Disney park, it'd be Japan. I feel like you could probably have a whole 3rd gate based around Ghibli, although Hayao Miyazaki is way too green to green light it unless you could somehow make it run completely on self-sustaining energy. As much as it's fan art, it's apparently fan art by a guy named John Ramirez who works for Disney both for storyboards and the theme-parks:

Oriental Land detailed a couple new rides and additions, all coming in 2020.

http://www.olc.co.jp/en/news/olcgroup/20160407_01e.pdf

Mediterranean Harbor

    Soarin'
    - over the world
    - cost of 18 billion JPY (160 million USD)
    - possibly opens in 2019 already

Fantasyland

    Beauty & The Beast area
    - includes a trackless darkride, a restaurant and a shop
    - total cost of 32 billion JPY (290 million USD)

    Live Entertainment Theater
    - a 1500 seat theater
    - the park's first full-scale indoor theater
    - cost of 17 billion JPY (152 million USD)

All of the above replaces Tomorrowland's Grand Circuit Raceway and the Rocket Jets.
The Raceway will close in January 2017.

Toontown

Mickey & Minnie Mouse greeting area
    - total cost of 2 billion JPY (18 million USD)

Tomorrowland

    Big Hero 6 area
    - includes a flat ride similar to California Adventure's Junkyard Jamboree and a popcorn shop
    - total cost of 2 billion JPY (18 million USD)

Very interesting. Are we assuming that the big Fantasyland redo was scaled back? Arendelle over at DisneySea pushed back?

It's okay, I'm fine with all of that if we're getting a Beauty and the Beast Trackless dark ride and a small Big Hero 6 area!!!!

I've gone pantless!

A trackless Beauty and the Beast dark ride would be a big step up over the Tomorrowland Raceway (which I think is the park's weakest attraction).

Wow, a trackless Beauty and the Beast dark ride?!? That would be so sweet in addition to Pooh!

The Big Hero 6 concept art looks awesome too.

Not the biggest fan of Soarin myself, but its nice to see another major attraction go in

Some serious things have changed from the last time they announced this project. remember, there was going to be a large Alice in Wonderland Area, and they were moving Small World (presumably to where the Big Hero 6 and Beauty and the Beast attractions are located). So, that leaves the fate of Small World up in the air, and that whole area they were going to redevelop.

And like Elissa mentioned, what happened to the new port in Disney SEA!? I am very excited for the new additions, but I am very curious to see what will happen to the rest of the things we saw in the original announcement.

I'd like to buy a vowel!

$190 million for another friggin Soarin clone? I'd rather get ten new Luigi's Flying Tires.

The rest of that looks incredible, though!

The Big Hero 6 attraction looks like it's another version of Mater's Jamboree.
(Oops. Sorry. Didn't see it already mentioned.)

And trackless rides are always an awesome thing, when Disney is involved!

I'll look forward to seeing the construction of it all, when (I hope) we get over there in 2018.

And, one place selling multiple flavours of popcorn??? :b :br

I just looked at last year's announcement and the Alice in Wonderland and Arendelle projects were for after fiscal year 2017, so this is not confirmation that any previous announcement has changed. However, Screamscape shows Arendelle to be on hold
