Best: Adventure Express

Lamest: Adventure Express

Agreed! It builds you up for excitement, and then it just ends.

^ haha yeah! KI used to be my home park, and when I rode AE as a kid I used to hope and pray that maybe one day it would have a big drop at the end or something. I do love though when people are screaming and freaking out at the crest of the lift and then they're are just like oh...

Worth mentioning (best ending):

- Mystery Mine at Dollywood. Explosion before the final 95 degree drop then a heartline roll into a inverted hanging section + dive loop is amazing.

- Thunderhead was always at its most intense towards the end of the ride. Lots of fast-paced banked turns and head choppers to throw you around before hitting the brake run. Lots of good fun.

In my opinion...

Best:

Talon- I love the flatspin, helix, airtime into brakes combo

Skyrush- The twisty-airtime hill into that amazing final bunnyhop is pure sex. Even the turn/drop into the final brakes is great.

Phoenix- Those bunny hills remind you why it's still ranked as one of the world's best

Worst:

Volcano- I was totally expecting something epic after the dive into the volcano. Just brakes.

Mean Streak- A culmination of "meh"

Top Thrill Dragster- I understand why the stratas end like they do, but there's so much potential and speed after such a massive drop.

Best/Worst:

Shockwave, KD- Those final bunny hops had some ridiculous, fun airtime. The next time I rode it, all I felt was horrible crotch pain.

Best: Flight Deck at CGA easily has my favorite ending. The helix over the water is one of the most intense moments on any ride and leaves you totally pumped up as you get of the ride.

Worst: The Big Thunder Mountain Railroads. They are great rides, but if you look at the 3 sections of the rides, the part after the 3rd lift is the slowest and least exciting of them all. I still love the rides though and will continue to ride them whenever possible.

+ Renegade at Valleyfair has lots of tiny bunny hills going into the final swooping turn and then into the brake run. It even has a mini station fly-by.

You would be surprised at how fast it takes these small hills; it's a great ending to the best wooden coaster I've ever been on.

+ Silver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm has some really fast but still lofty helixes going into the brake run that add a really good sense of fun to the ride, not intensity like most inverts.

- As for negatives, I can't really think of any bad ones that stand out.

I think that Paris' thunder mountain has a brilliant ending, swooping turn into a tunnel then another tight turn followed by a plunge down under the lake back to mainland. The sense of speed is great with the train vibrating as it drops down, ending with the train flying up out of a tunnel onto the brakes.

Ah, I should have specified the US versions. I haven't been on Paris or Tokyo so I can't speak for those.

I am pretty sure Adventure Express has the worst ending ever. Anyone who has ever rode it knows how anti-climatic it is. On the plus side, I really like Raptor's intense helix. The Voyage's spaghetti bowl also is interesting. It seems like you aren't losing any speed even though you are nearing the end!

Best: Top Gun at CGA, Phoenix, and Boulder Dash.

Worst: Adventure Express hands down!

Honorable Mention for Worst: Vurang at Hopi Hari. One of the slowest, most uneventful endings ever.

I have to say the US versions of Big Thunder Mountain are among my least favorite endings. For best endings, I think Maverick has a great ending, as does Kumba which has one of the only helixes I find thrilling.

Helixes rarely impress me and I think they're a bit overused whether or not they're at the end of the ride.

Favorite Endings:

Boulderdash

Coaster @ PNE Playland

Maverick

Worst Ending

Revenge of the Mummy @ USH - People always talk about being let down by Adventure Express or Ninja @ SFMM's endings, but this takes the cake for biggest letdown. After you stop with the backwards section and they play the creepy music, turn around and see the sand head. This must be leading up to something big. BAM!!! The rides over. All that build up for nothing.

Honorable Mentions

Adventure Express

Ninja @ SFMM

Best:

El Toro- the twister ending is awesome.

Worst:

Wicked- The first half of the ride is great but the second half is slow and choppy.

The SFNE Cyclone- the trims really slow the ending down to almost a crawl.

Superman at SFOG has a good ending with that helix into a barrel roll. It's too bad that the pretzel loop and the barrel roll are really the only good parts of the ride, though.

The worst ending to any of the coasters I have been on is probably Steel Force at Dorney Park. You finish going through the camel humps towards the end and then it seems like they didn't know what they should do next to connect the end of the break run with the end of the row of camel humps so they just stuck some track in there. Although I do give them credit, being probably the only thing they could have done to connect the two with the space given. If they had more space a nice helix would be kind of nice(er).

The ending used to have water effects which would soak the rider. It caused issues and therefore removed.

Best-

El Toro's final drop and twists are really fun especially when you're going that fast.

Intimidator 305- That final twisty is pretty intense.

Nitro- All of those airtime hills

Worst-

Hulk- The ride starts off as one of the most unique B&M's out there, but then the second half is just your typical B&M coaster....

Volcano- An 80 foot drop into brakes. Kind of a sudden ending if you ask me.

Anaconda- Two SLOW corkscrews into a slow turn and into the brakes is very dreadful.

I think that El Toro has the best, with all of the twisty banked turns and Volcano with the huge drop leading straight into the brakes. That part was a little bit painful.

Adventure Express has to be the worst and I think El Toro is definitely the best. Between the OMFG ejector drop and the brakes that ride feels like it's going to rip itself apart (in a good way) but I think Phoneix deserves an honorable mention, that last run of bunny hops is a ton of fun.

Best:

- El Toro, with the twisty part at the end.

- Dutch Goliath, Three bunny hops, and then that final speed turn into the brakes.

Worst:

- Adventure Express, just the biggest anti-climax.

Posted

Best for me is Nemesis i just looove the little drop under the bridge then BAM slammed into final wing-over.

Worst hmmm Jubilee Odyssey Anything after the loop would be considered by early century doctors as the perfect lobotomy

Posted

Best:

El Toro - Amazing combo of speed, twistyness, and airtime

Bizarro (SFNE) - Same as El Toro

Lightning Racer - Awesome crossovers!

Maverick - twisty!!!

Lamest:

Great Bear - Great start but boring ending.

Superman: Ultimate Flight (SFGAd) - Nothing special about it. Kind of boring.

For me, the best and worst are in the same park...

Best is The Beast. I really wish they'd tone down the trims going into the tunnel though, that would make it completely insane.

Worst is Adventure Express. Am I the only one that does the hammer motion with the statues going up the hill???
