boldikus Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 ^ Should have posted with the picture was this text: "2016 here we come......The location and more pics will be up at GAHistory later. They are surveying to mark out all the water lines in that area for when the digging start's."
Genx24 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Wait was there a Geico ad there before? I thought it was just rusted beyond comprehension. The Geico ad was there around 2006-7. The rust came once the gecko left. On another note, the park is definitely gearing up for a coaster. I just hope it's something custom.
boldikus Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Ahhh makes sense. That was a time in my life I forgot the park even existed.

Philrad71 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Also, no Jersey Boys El Toro ad! Seems like the ad craze Era is slowing down. Wait...no more Polly-O cheese wrap?
YoshiFan Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Some notes from today: Zumanjaro was closed the entire time I was at the park, it seems like it has been having a lot of problems this season. This was my 5th visit to the park this year and I have only managed to get 2 rides in because of the multiple breakdowns and closings. Operations were good with less stacking at most rides. There were a lot of school groups with Physics Day and Music In The Parks but overall crowds were very low with my longest wait of the day being 10 minutes for Kingda Ka which was only because it had reopened after a breakdown so a lot of people went to the ride then. I got 19 coaster rides from 1:30 to closing at 6:00. Multiple trains were running early in the day but as the schools left or went to the award ceremonies, some rides took off trains. Bizarro went to 2 trains and Green Lantern went to 1 train.
ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 This park is more likely going to get a new coaster in 2016. A park like this should create something wild and "original." How about: "For 2016, Six Flags Great Adventure is proud to announce the world's first dueling wing coasters!" Highly doubtful, but it's a thought.
Vonni Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 If they do get a new coaster for 2016, being that it would kind of be a replacement for Batman and Robin, a dueling coaster of some kind would be really appropriate. But, I guess you can look at Dark Knight as Batman and Robins replacement so I may be way off the mark.

Always thought that Chiller looked like an awesome ride, but it was gone by the time I was able to get to the park.
Silverstareg Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Most likely due to the size of the former que building for chiller we could see a launched wing coaster occupy it and Immelmann to the right to head towards where they are surveying. Knowing SFGA they will not let someone have all the glory with firsts. So expect it to be huge.
njcoasterguy34 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I'd rather not expect anything to happen. That way I'll be pleasantly surprised if something does happen rather than be disappointed if something doesn't happen.

I've got a feeling that once they do renovate over there they're going to raze it and start from the ground up.
Lightnin Loops Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Just curious, did anyone go to the park sunday night? What was the Ortega cinco de mayo ert? Haven't heard anyone on any sfagdv boards write any reports about ert.

I know both Mr. Freezes, and the Chiller had awful opening year problems, but why was Six Flags able to turn the other two into reliable coasters, but never The Chiller??

Didn't Chiller use extreme amounts of electricity?

The Chiller had issues with dueling, when both the trains launched at the same time it would put a lot of stress on the power grid (which is why they ran staggered and later only the robin side). The Chiller also had issues with LIMs burning out and train issues with the zero-g roll. If you want to read more look at the GAdv History page. http://greatadventurehistory.com/BandRTheChiller.htm
DoinItForTheFame Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 ^ That was actually a very interesting article. I learned a lot of things I did not know about the coaster. Thanks for sharing!
IntaminLove Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I wouldn't be surprised if a standard or launched wing coaster is coming. Wing coasters seem to be gaining popularity and SFGAdv likes B&M. A wing coaster would also be unique to the region. I wouldn't get excited if this happened because the wing riders I have been on aren't too thrilling. My opinion doesn't matter and the park will add what they think will be a crowd pleaser. I love coasters so I would ride it every visit like I do with the other coasters. Here's what I would rather have the park add. If winged seating is desired, then a Intamin wing rider would be cool. I would be more in favor of an Intamin launched coaster in the likes of Maverick and iSpeed. One can dream.
Nitro1118 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Just like I posted on GAH...Thunderbird had a price tag SF hasn't invested on a single attraction in many years. If they do any kind of reimagining to that area, we are talking what will likely be about 1/3 of the entire chain's investment capital on one area. I just do not see this happening. My bet is on a more moderately priced RMC, S&S freefly or Premier launched, along with a revampment of Old Country. I think between the price, critical reception and recent partnerships with those companies, that is from whom we will see our next coaster. Which I am happy with. All 3 fit our collection better than a 6th B&M that won't offer anything terribky unique to the park. However, a 4D or RMC with inversions would definitely add a new element to our collection, be cheaper and likely offer better ride experiences.
DBru Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 ^What you're basically saying is that Six Flags will never invest in a major coaster again, and that just isn't true.
IntaminLove Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I have a question somewhat related to the current discussion. Does anyone know if The Chiller is still in storage at Beto Carrero World? Rcdb still lists it as in storage, but that could be due to a lack of current information.
