Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2017: Top Thrill Dragster RETIRED!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

This is probably unlikely, but I did some measuring and a large scale ZacSpin like Insane can fit behind Millennium Force's first turn

I remember watching this Cedar Point documentary on Youtube and they had a bunch of coaster concepts on the wall. One of them was a few Zacspin layouts.

Here it is.

I dont feel like a Zacspin or a Freespin would be right for Cedar Point. It just doesn't seem like a fit.

Unless that ZacSpin of Freespin coaster was a unique custom model made just for Cedar Point that can't really be "cloned"!

CP is not going to waste time with a stupid Zacspin.

They're for smaller parks who don't have the funds for a monster coaster. Magic Mountain only got one as a cheap way to increase their coaster count.

I think Grona Lund got one because ZacSpins are compact, and they are great at managing their space. If they had room for a big coaster, they probably would have went with that.

Also, what happened to the B&M 4D wing coaster rumors? I think Gatekeeper was originally rumored to be that, but it evolved into a concept in the planning stage (in the rumor mill), but I haven't heard anything the last year or so.

They can always replace the trains if they feel the need to, however I don't think they would consider it for a long time.

I don't think they would add rotating seats to a Wing Coaster. Wing coasters are meant to mimic flying, and adding rotating seats would probably ruin that feeling

So, I assume you know the engineering involved in replacing trains on a coaster already much more complex than a traditional sitting coaster, with trains requiring even more precise engineering and calculations of forces? You cannot change the style of trains that easily; the Mantis to Rougarou conversion was the first example of this on a B&M (excluding Sheikra which is different), and I presume it is because Mantis was designed for a variable heartline as a stand up model in the first place, allowing for floorless/sit down trains.

I'm still thinking a polar coaster type attraction is a perfect fit for the park... Something with an observation aspect is needed now that the space spiral is gone... I feel like something out by Mean Streak would look great on the skyline...

And Iron Streak.... Clearly....

Hey guys! some friends and I are traveling to CP for the first time in May. We're staying at Hotel Breakers, and will be arriving on Sunday, leaving Wednesday, leaving us Sunday afternoon, and all day Monday and Tuesday at the park.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what with the early entry from staying on-property and all, this should be plenty of time to ride everything without worrying about fastlane, yes?
