Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

It is possible that they spent the money to re-track Mean Streak in order to "bridge the gap," so to speak. It seems that Six Flags has Rocky Mountain booked to capacity for at least this season, so perhaps Cedar Point couldn't get iBox track even if they wanted to.

There's the thing. If I'm not mistaken, Rocky Mountain as a company is kind of small. If that's the case, they don't have the capacity to manage four or five coasters (plus flat rides) a year like Intamin or Mack Rides does.

Then I think they need to tear Mean Streak down and add an Intamin pre-fab woodie.

I think it should be topper track. If I-Box, then it's not a real wooden coaster anymore.

After the money they spent [apparently] retracking the thing recently, I wouldn't expect anything to happen to Mean Streak for at least several years.

Lol. I'm sorry I meant should there be a highly doubtable RMC redo, it should be topper not I-Box. I personally want to see MS burned to the ground.

I think we've all agreed that at some point MS will get an RMC makeover. Given their options for the ride, it seems like the obvious choice. It just comes down to when. Will it be marketed as their next big coaster? Very possibly, I think. At this point the only thing it's worth is standing as a backdrop in pictures and adding to the coaster count.

Until CF actually shows any signs of interest in working with RMC, in ANY of their parks, no, we are most certainly not all agreed. It would be nice, but right now we have no reason to think that would actually happen.

Daniel,

Will you be working at CP on the MF crew next year, or do you have to reapply again where you could end up on a different ride or other area of the park? I'm curious to know how their hiring process works from year to year....not that I'm going to apply, but I've always been curious as to how that works at seasonal theme parks if one chooses to work at a park for more than one season.

It worries me how much the actual product will differ from the sketch.

You need to find a new hobby.

Yeah, this is what you sit around and worry about? It's a f-ing amusement park. Do you think a little tackiness will matter to most people? GAL

At Cedar Point, our area manager from the past year sends out an email to their employees of the past year that has a form you fill out to request any ride you would like to work. ( It isn't guaranteed you will get that ride, they cant put everyone that wants Maverick, TTD, or MF on those crews).

As for me I am requesting Team Leader of Mean Streak for this next summer, Maverick as leadership was fun but it was stressful and don't want t o do it again.

Oh by the way 2014 applications are now out, and if anyone would like to work at Cedar Point I would suggest filling one out asap. IT will be one of the best summers of your life, Trust me I'm on year #7 and I can't believe how amazing each summer can be. https://jobs.cedarfair.com/cedarpoint/index.cfm?logout Hopefully Ill see some of you here

Yep, what Kyle said!

While I'd love to work on Millennium again this year, I also applied for a leadership position. In the end, management puts us wherever they think we will be the best fit, and we all have a great time no matter where we are! (Well, for the most part. )
