RaceBoarder Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 That is a good deal. Just kinda curious about parking though. Seems like a waste if you are just taking a single car. Either way, I should probably jump on one of these Fast Lane deals. Already slept on the $80 Ticket/FL+ combo from Black Friday... Just buy the damn thing and find someone to go after the purchase, ha ha.
prozach626 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Well, damn. Scratch the Holiday sale for me. I told Emily we could make a quick stop on the way to our first trip to KW this summer. I received the reply of, "Yeah, a quick $800 stop when it's all said and done with." She's right.
Ape Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 yeah but $800 that's well worth it in the end. We jumped on the ticket with Fast Lane Plus deal when it happened. We live just south of cincy and i am cool with driving there in the morning doing a full day at the park and driving back the same day. I usually takes me a few hours to wind down anyway so by the time I get home I am ready to crash.
prozach626 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 I'd have too much beer in me for the drive home. I suggested a trip to the point earlier in the year, too. However, Emily said we're placing more emphasis on new parks this year. Considering six years ago she had the look of hatred on her face every time we visited a park, I can't be mad at that. In fact, I was pretty damn proud of that statement.
IanTajgiszer Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Some interesting news for today... www.sanduskyregister.com/story/201712250005.
Mossed Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Hopefully they move some more dorms off site, and add a hotel, and make copious amounts of money that they will spend on the 2020 addition.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 That property is decently close to their two offsite hotels, so could definitely be seeing some new lodging options soon.
DamienConnelley Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I think a resort would be a great addition to aesthetically spruce up Cleveland road on your way to Cedar Point Drive.
bluestreak Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 How about a new maintenance building? Could move the one from the park and that would open up some room for rides.
The Great Zo Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Alright, since the article didn't specify, I will. Not hard to do a little searching around on the Erie County Auditor's website. Obviously, this is all publicly-available information. I found six parcels purchased by Cedar Point a short while ago on Cleveland Road. 1706 Cleveland Rd and adjacent (2 parcels total) Purchased from Crestview Holding Company LLC on October 5, 2017, for $163,250 http://erie.iviewauditor.com/Data.aspx?ParcelID=57-01884.000 http://erie.iviewauditor.com/Data.aspx?ParcelID=57-06019.000 1800 Cleveland Rd / 1801 Cleveland Rd and adjacent (4 parcels total) First three parcels purchased from Diamond Realty Co on October 11, 2017, for $300,000 http://erie.iviewauditor.com/Data.aspx?ParcelID=57-04694.000 http://erie.iviewauditor.com/Data.aspx?ParcelID=57-04750.000 http://erie.iviewauditor.com/Data.aspx?ParcelID=57-06018.000 Last parcel purchased from various individuals on October 11, 2017 for $0 http://erie.iviewauditor.com/Data.aspx?ParcelID=57-01775.000 Those six parcels form a continuous land area on the south side of Cleveland Road (US-6) between Cowdery Street and the Econo Lodge. To give you an idea of the size of this area in green, it's about 2.5 acres total. For comparison, the area covered by the Express Hotel (including parking lot) is a little over 8 acres. Searching for sales this year further north, I only found one parcel at 2009 Second Street -- it was purchased in January 2017, so not exactly a new sale. Rather, what's more interesting is that I learned that Cedar Point already owns a plethora of parcels behind the Commons and Express Hotel -- I found parcels on Fourth, Third, and Second streets. Suffice to say it's not just one or two -- far more than I feel like counting up or mapping out.
prozach626 Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Looks like Thirsty Pony will be getting a lot of new business.
coasterbill Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 As long as they don't f*ck with my Econo Lodge I'm good.
bert425 Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I'm just shocked there hasn't been a guess they are building a tunnel under the water for CP's record breaking Mega-Giga-Coaster, that will have it's turn-around on the property CP bought. but maybe those that would think that are still on vacation with their parents
RaceBoarder Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Why not develop a Thirsty Pony type bar/resturaunt on the land... Even something close to a FEC? That would serve as a place for people staying several nights to go "off site" but still keep $$$$ in house...
Nrthwnd Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Um, what is "Former Japanese Restaurant", now? Vacant? Off Limits? Quarantined?
Vonni Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 This is really cool news, but I'd probably be a little more excited if it were land much closer to the peninsula lol!
southpuddle Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I’d be happy if they just demolished the entire site and did some nice landscaping. That alone would nicely improve the runup to what is essentially the entrance property. But I’m sure there is some sort of actual plan for the site.
CoasterBoasterBob Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I'm really excited to see what happens with this piece of land. Im hoping for cedar point to move some offices off site so they can do more on the peninsula.
prozach626 Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I'm curious if we'll even see anything happen other than demolition. Part of me wonders if the park purchased the land with intentions to use it years down the road, with the the price being right to acquire it for now.
strwrse1 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 The word is that they are going to move human resources offices out to the newly purchased location. And I think they are also looking to purchase the econo lodge property to move employee housing to. They want to free up Cedars.
DBru Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Could the area support some more adult nightlife venues? I’d love to see that.
coasternut Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 2018 - the year of Sven! I can't wait... Happy New Year.
bgtlover Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I can't wait for Steel Vengeance! (and the rest of the park in June)
