^They'll do it just for you, have fun

Also, Tatsu was testing all day today, and heard it was testing all day yesterday as well.  It still has not opened, but it shouldn't be much longer

I'm very excited to try Superman forwards (even with the bulky harnesses compared to the original lap bars). My first visit to SFMM was in the summer of 2010 when it had just closed for the renovation. Hopefully this means the park will try to keep both tracks running frequently, rather than only ever having one side open for budget cuts.

According to a friend of mine, Tatsu was open yesterday Saturday. He rode it 4 times. I also read that Superman is only running 1 side (new forward version), as the restraints were taken off the other train.

Well I'm certainly hyped for the park improvements!

That must be a very recent development. I had some family members go on Sunday and they rode both sides of Superman a few times each.

They don't race/launch these together do they?  That would be cool.

Not really, but about a week ago, one side launched, and then my side launched at the other side was coming down, so we passed each other midway.  I was happy with that, figured that was as close as I'd ever get.

Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain must require vaccination proof

Quote

Los Angeles County public health officials will require Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain visitors and employees to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test starting next month.

An amended county health order will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test starting Oct. 7 for theme parks and other outdoor mega events of more than 10,000 people, according to Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer.

Theme Park Review was invited to a media preview of Fright Fest for 2021.   Not so much a preview since Fright Fest opened up last weekend.  Maybe they were still building up staff since  Sewer of Souls was not open last weekend.  We had some food, then heard about the two new scare zones, The Deadzone, and Terror Rising Dark Developments.  As always, the opening of Fright Fest with Unleashed was awesome.

The park was jam packed.  Every place I've ever seen them park cars, was used.   I almost parked next to the new roller coaster track.  LOL   I'm not sure what they need to do, but with so many people in the park, the scarezones mostly just became selfie zones with every teenager just wanting pictures with the actors.  Not a lot of room for sliders to do their thing.  The scarezones were just packed of people.  Meanwhile, the mazes weren't as crowded.  If you had an express pass, the waits were nearly non existent which was great.

I assume SFMM is still trying to fill spaces in the mazes and scarezones since actors seemed a bit sparse.  But still some really fun times in both.  Here's some photos...

Sort of related, but their creative director is yet another cool example of how a “summer job” can so easily turn into a career in this industry. He started his SFMM career as a ride op 20 years ago when I worked there.

yeah, he mentioned being at the park for 22 years!

If you go on it at night right before the park closes it is amazing. you can barely see the trees below you and it is much more exciting. Tatsu is one amazing ride. a must ride for any coaster fan!

Quick trip the other day.  Nothing spectacular to report on.  I love the return of the forward launch on Superman, but I think that the backward side is the best overall experience.  So glad to see Tatsu back up and running, and it's still a blast.  Apocalypse rides a little bumpy but it's not uncomfortable... feels like one of those vibrating massage chairs but just a lot more aggressive.  Batman still slaps.  TC still not racing.

The ride ops on Twisted Colossus actually were able to make it duel occasionally during midweek, due to very light crowds which allowed for quicker dispatches.  It's a top tier RMC regardless, but the racing aspect just makes it even better.

Agree that Tatsu is a fantastic flyer and that their Batman runs great (hot take: the Batman clones are actually my favorite B&M inverts).

Is there a "correct" way to ride X2?  I can certainly admire its uniqueness, but it seems like something that has to be ridden so defensively to avoid banging your head and legs...

I'm one of those oddballs who actually enjoys X2. However, it is rough and requires some strategy. I always ride the front row, inside seat. In addition, I go to it right away, first thing in the morning. It's smoothest (or, more appropriately, the least rough) at that time. Afterwards, it just gets miserable. Typically, I head straight to X2 and ride it once first thing (maybe twice, if the line is super short). After that, I avoid it for the rest of the day. Hope this helps!

^I echo everything from above.  Early in the morning, front row, inside seat.  It's still not perfect, but more tolerable.
