sio Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 First drop of Tonnerre de Zeus Best drop on a wooden with a scary tunnel
thomas2 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 From the coasters I've ridden: Weerwolf in the back row From all the coaster: El Toro seem to have an amazing drop!
bgwfreak Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^^^ Ahhh! scary! Â For me Voyage all the way, especially in the back. The floater time is insane. Â Before they trimmed it to death Beast was really good.
TheArchfiend Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Though I've rode El Toro 30+ times... my favorite wooden coaster drop was Hercules at Dorney Park. That drop was awesome and was the height record breaker when it first came out. Plus it was a rough as all hell coaster and I love that.
bleedsnomore134 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 villian at gl just because i havent made it to el toro yet soon though
MSLSM Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Cyclone at Lakeside has an awsome drop that has air time that is unmatched if you sit up front. Â Â
ECZenith Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Just recently, El Toro became my best wooden first drop. Just so unbelievably steep.
Reon Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Cyclops at Mt. Olypmus. Theres no comparison to that wild airtime that can almost push you out of the car... Â Â Honorable mentions: Hades. Hate playing favorites to a park, but freefall into complete darkness is pretty sweet... Â Â Jared "The Mt. O fanatic"
coasterguy618 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 El Toro's first drop is amazing. The sirtime is unbielivable.
Electerik Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Wooden coaster? The Voyage, methinks. Â Although Millenium Force still has the best first drop overall, in my book.
Reon Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^Nah, I'd give that to StormRunner. Nice little verticle drop with a headchopper tree But Cyclops is still better. So much twisted airtime
Electerik Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^ At the risk of starting a philosophical debate, I'm not sure I would consider Strom Runner to even have a first drop! At least, in the context of the question. Which is to say, launching up and over the first hill sort makes the "first" drop not very much like a first drop at all, but more like a second hill (in terms of experience/sensation). Â I think that's sort of the idea behind the inclusion of the word "first" in the original poster's question. Otherwise, I'll take GhostRider's mid-course drop over Voyage's first drop.
Hercules Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 The best that I have experienced was on J2 (formally known as Tsunami). Now I can't wait until El Toro. Â I still hold true to J2, even after riding El Toro.
CD Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I love Rattler's (SFFT) first drop. Â http://www.rcdb.com/ig56.htm?picture=4 Â I love how you start out turning to the right and then to the left before straightening out at the bottom. Â I also like Roar's (SFMW) first drop, but only in the back seat. Â http://www.rcdb.com/ig543.htm?picture=2 Â If you are in the back seat you get an amazing amount of aitime on this hill. Once you reach the climax you fly out of your seat and then your thrown to the right.
CD Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I don't know my left from my right  I have never really payed that much attention to it, I just found it fun and interesting.
FeelTheFORCE Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Thunderbolt at Kennywood because its right out of the station. Â http://coasterimage.com/pictures/kennywood/thunderbolt02.htm
knottslover77 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 GhostRider only 108 foot drop, but it packs a punch.
easytoremember Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I would have to say my favorite first drop is Hades in the back seat. The airtime combined with the tunnel at the bottom at the bottom of the hill is amazing. My second favorite is Georgia Cyclone's first drop. The airtime is just insane. Third place is voyage. The first drop is huge and has tons of airtime in the back seat.
coastakid Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Coney Island Cyclone: in the back. Nothing beats, getting thrown around while getting ejected a foot out of your seat!
socalMAN123 Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Even though it is pretty rough I'm going to have to say Ghostrider's first drop is pretty awesome. The airtime in the back seat is heavenly. ---Brent
Calvin Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 From what I recall (remember, it's been a year of no coasters for me besides Speed), Colossus, in the back seat, with the lapbar way up.
