CorkscrewFoley
Which El Toro?
DiSab
The Legend. Killer airtime in the back seat, into the tunnel with that massive positive g force and lateral as you curve to the right. Â Agree 100%. The whip you get in the back is crazy-intense. And the fact that the drop has that slight banking to the left makes it all that much better. Right up there with Legend in my book is across the park. The Voyage also has that crazy "holy-shit-I'm-gonna-fly-out" whip effect in the back of the train. And the fact that you stay out of your seat the entire drop is awesome.
MattMattMatt
Â Agree 100%. The whip you get in the back is crazy-intense. The Voyage also has that crazy "holy-poo-poo-I'm-gonna-fly-out" whip effect in the back of the train. And the fact that you stay out of your seat the entire drop is awesome. Â Part of what I like about the bottom of Legend's first drop is that really heavy positive + lateral in the tunnel reminds me a lot of Beast's helix back when you took it at (closer to) full speed which I grew up adoring. I just got back from my first time at Kennywood and Phantom feels similar at the bottom of the big drop, I'm obsessed with that thing now. Â Voyage's is also the bomb. Feels in shape similar to some of the Intamin hypers, and of course it's close to that sort of size. Way superior's to El Toro IMO.
redfoot12
I'm still just a couple shy of 20 wooden coasters, but El Toro for me. Looking forward to some of the Texas woodies next week.

Kennyweird
I thought Skyliner at Lakemont Park had some decent airtime on the first drop, at least in the back seat. Blue Streak at CP also had a pretty good first drop, if I remember correctly.
atem122
Out of the 4 woodies I've ridden, Terminator is the best because you kinda float out the whole way down, followed by probably SFDK Roar, Ghostrider, and Colossus
rcdude
Out of the wooden roller coastes I've been on, I would say that Terminator Salvation: The Ride and Ghostrider have the best first drops. The drop on Mean Streak would probably have been pretty good as well if it didn't have the trim brake on it.
cycamps
I'm gonna have to go with American Eagle all the way. That was the first coaster I ever rode, and I still remember the feeling of how long the drop was. Although I'm obviously used to it at this point, it still gets me every time and makes me think of my first time.
FeelTheFORCE
Some of my favorites: Â Ravine Flyer II (Waldameer) El Toro (Six Flags Great Adventure) Ghostrider (Knotts Berry Farm) Thuunderbolt (Kennywood) Lightning Racer (Hershey) The Beast (Kings Island) Son of Beast (Kings Island) Tremors (Silverwood) Villain (in it's early days...Geauga Lake)

I literally thought I was dead when the train came back into the station. THE ROUGHEST ROLLER COASTER ON EARTH! I like to call it "Death on Rails"... DiSab
^I actually got a rare trimless ride on it a few years ago. The ride was no better - rougher, but with at least a little airtime. Still nothing to write home about. Basically, it sucked just as much. And I didn't feel much of anything on the first drop. Still forceless and weak. Wood Dragon 1988
El Toro for me, though I haven't been on any other pre-fabs. Â The drop is just undescribably good. When I rode it last on opening day this year, I still sometimes couldn't leave my hands up the whole time through the first drop. It's really one of the only moments on a roller coaster I'm still terrified of! And the Great Adventure locals said that was a bad day for El Toro. I still can't figure out how rides like Millie Force and the SROSs have much taller and steeper drops but aren't even in the same league! Â Other wooden first drops I really liked were the Skyliner at Lakemont and SFNE's Cyclone.
Franc
I also want to give an honorable mention to Coaster at PNE Playland.
fisher1095
Could it be said that El Toro is the most intense drop on ANY coaster to date? Steel too? Or, does someone still have a more intense one?
alpengeist04
^Some say T Express is pretty good too. Â I still can't figure out how rides like Millie Force and the SROSs have much taller and steeper drops but aren't even in the same league! Â The speed entering the drop may help play a role in that. jamesdillaman
Cornball Express in the back seat is one of my all-time favorites. I also enjoy Thunderhead's because it's just so wrong looking. Voyage is good, too, but straight forward. Â Granted, I've only been on like 70 wooden coasters... Â -James Dillaman
dragsterfan420
I think the Voyage in the back seat is the best. You get floater air all the way down.

GCS
After riding it on Friday it would have to be the one and only El Toro.
CoasterCard
^ & ^^ You guys were lucky enough to get over to Germany to ride El Toro!!! That's awesome! How was it? haha just kidding. Â After riding the Kentucky Rumbler, I will say that it is my favorite drop on a wooden coaster. The push off of the lift is impressive and provides an amazing amount of speed into the main drop. Although it doesn't look like much, it really is amazing!
cinciDAWGS12
As far as best airtime on the first hill, I would have to say El Toro and Voyage. Â However, my favorite and possibly the biggest surprise roller coaster was Tremors. The drop is nice and the gift shop tunnel at the bottom makes it even better. Great ride. DBru
Although it isn't the greatest coaster, I'm always impressed with Son of Beast's giant first drop...sure it may be a bit rough, and not the steepest drop in the world, but riding in the back car, there is some pretty wicked airtime all the way down that seemingly-endless, 200+ft. freefall. Â (But the Boss and Voyage are definitely my favorite drops on wooden coasters.)
hobbit
i think el toro, or haze... mayby renegade, or therminator... no i think T-Xpresss, or the voyage....
