coasterguy618
I haven't been on that many woodies, but I'll have to say the Lighting Racer at Hershey Park. However, when El Toro opens, it's drop will probably be the best. --Gaven

Real
So many GREAT choices... Cornball - buzzbars and the originater of the NMR style drop. Tons of lateral airtime. ST - ejector city Thunderhead - in the back on a day when even one of the lead designers of GCI said it was running as fast as hes ever thought it could. (I emailed him on TH and later he mentioned he was there that day...turns out I was too - it was very cold, almost near the temp they cant run it but it was FLYING)
scruffy
I will have to say the Beast back when it had watter around the lift hill.
Reon
Gosh this is a hard one! When are we doing the topic for favorite *any* drop on a Wooden coaster? Then I'd say: JackRabbit @ Kennywood and Cyclops at the Dells would be up there! Elissa "Mmm Cyclops" Alvey I was waiting for someone to mention Cyclops. So...much...ejector air I go over the seat divider EVERY TIME I go down that drop... Hades, Beast, and Wildcat have some nice drops aswell, but they're child's play compared to Cyclops.. arrowfanman
On my one ride oh Ghostrider, I sat in the back. The drop was the juiciest, sexiest, and all around awe-inspiring drop I have ever been on! ...And then I didn't care for the rest.
robbeal
While my woodie collection is pretty limited, and i'm mostly constrained to our classic UK woodies, which are more about the layout than the drop, the Grand National is up there, with its first double-down. The best one ridden so far for me though must be Balder. I've ridden nothing quite as steep and airtime filled as that. Coming a close second would actually be Bandit@ Movie Park Germany I think. While the ride was nothing more than average, I do like the drop that banks across to the right and picks up a hell of a lot of speed.
ECZenith
I'm partial to Boulder Dash's mountain-carving first drop. The Great White at Morey's is another great one.
alpengeist04
I like Tremors first drop at Silverwood. Down into a tunnel, through the gift shop, up for a quick breath of fresh air, and down into another tunnel.
larrygator
my faves: Blue Streak @ CLP - the only drop I can not do with my hands up, violently serious air Cyclone @ Astroland - just plain scary Hades - into the tunnel to Hell Roar @ SFA - practically tosses you out of the side of the car Shivering Timbers - perfect floater air, out of my seat for 3/4 of the drop best non-first drop - Cyclops (stands out because I wasn't impressed with the rest of the ride)
Hercules
The best that I have experienced was on J2 (formally known as Tsunami). Now I can't wait until El Toro.
Cameron
So many good suggestions already .. but I feel I have to add American Eagle at Six Flags Great America (the red - forwards - side). Cameron.
peteb
Hercules at Dorney Park- Awesome first drop when this coaster was new; riding in the back you would absolutely get thrown down the first hill since the train was already moving at a pretty good clip before the drop. Too bad the rest of the ride left you with a headache. These days I really enjoy the twisty first drops on Lightning Racer and Wildcat at Hershey Park. Cerberus
That 'Zeus' one at Park Asterix. I've always wanted to know how the back seats managed to offer so much airtime on a drop that doesn't even look that steep! Plus the tiny open-mouthed face rock thing at the bottom of the drop makes for a great "Shall I pull my hands down?!" moment, as well as acting as a really loud sound tunnel for the train's wheels. Sounds like you've actually smashed through a rockface :o Cerberus

dragoncoaster1292
It is between Cyclone at Astroland, or Dragon Coaster at Rye Playland. With Dragon Coaster, if you sit in the back and put your hands up, the airtime is breathtaking. But with the Cyclone, if you sit anywhere on the train, hands up or grasping white knuckel on the lap bar, awaiting the 58 degree drop ahead of you, the airtime on the drop is 2 seconds of pure bliss! Plus, the Cyclone was my first woodie.
pupkick
Mine, the "double drop" first drop on The Boss at SFStL, back seatish.
N'at Man
I'd agree with some others that the Riverside Cyclone had the best drop/combo I've ever experienced. It was flat out sick. I looked at is as our link to the golden age of coasters and unfortunately it has been replaced. Nobody will ever build anything like that again. Here are my current favorites in no particular order: Lakemont Skyliner - Huge pop of airtime with and old, double bar PTC train. Coney Island Cyclone - Still right at the top. It can still strike fear into you. Georgia Cyclone - More ejection than the CI original. Shivering Timbers - Great floatage for a first drop. Rampage - Picks up some steam before a nice, steep drop. Tremors - Straighter than Rampage and probably better.
coastakid
Yes the Riverside Cyclone insane with that first drop. Since it is really rough you also get jerked out of your seat and you think that you are going to fly into the wood infront of the drop.
socalMAN123
I haven't really been on that many woodies (Psyclone, Collossus, Ghostrider), but out of the ones I have been on, I would have to say Collossus or Ghostrider. Colossus has extreme airtime in the back, but so does Ghostrider. ---Brent 8)

Tömmioh
Colossos (Heide Park) and Grand National have the best first drops out of the woodies I've been on.
