Coasterkid20
I felt like starting a thread about the glorious first drops on a wooden coaster. Feel free to specify seats, after all there always is a difference between back and front. My personal vote goes for Legend, which is really bizarre because 2002, and 2003 I never LOVED Legend (still liked it a lot), but thought that the first drop was kinda rough and in general the ride never seemed incredible. But then when they retracked the first drop, and I rode in the back seat for the first time of the season (probably 30th overall) and was simply BLOWN AWAY! The first drop in the back seat had some incredible airtime, and then the fabulous ever tightening turn finishing out the drop had me hooked. In 2004 Legend truly came out at the top of its game, giving more airtime then ever before and in general gave an A+ ride, I actually thought of making Legend my number 1 coaster........ FlyingScooter
My fav is ThunderHead: Dollywood. Second would be the Villian: GL Third: Blue Streak (w/the NAD train) CLP Worst: Mean Streak. CP
pvcoasterguy
Tornado at Adventureland in Iowa. Simply amazing in the backseat. No gentle slope into the drop, no slowing down at the top of the lift. Just pure ejector air in the back seat. The drop is very steep and fast. Take a look at rcdb.com or something... you'll see. In addition, the Outlaw, (picture in my avatar,) at the same place has an amazing drop in the backseat also. But, this time you get ejector air while flying down a GCI-type drop, but has a B&M-type dip n' drop concept.

robbalvey
I would probably have to go with Heide Park's Colossos. I mean, you can't get much better than a 196 foot, 61 degree drop on a wood coaster that's as smooth as Millennium Force! --Robb "Of course....that is until Balder in a few weeks with a 70 degree drop!" coasterdude5
I'd have too say Thunderhead at Dollywood in the front. That twisted drop is so twisted. It's great!
SFMMXcoaster
Isn't Raven an out of the station drop.... that should be awesome.Unexpected
pianojohn
I liked Rampage back in 1999 at the Spring Coaster Con. I am not sure how it has held up since then. Also, Wildcat at Hersheypark is cool. Pretty much any curving twisting first drop works for me.
Carnage
I actually think Ghostrider. I don't know what it is about that coaster, but it just seems to take my stomach out more then alot of much larger coasters. Like on the west coast trip GR took my stomach out much more then even the larger ones like X,RR,Goliath, etc. Maybe it has somethign to do with the covered drop that makes it feel like I'm about to hit it? What Now
I like NM Rattler's first drop. It has airtime and twists to the right.
socalMAN123
I love Ghostrider and Colossus back seat drops (even though Colossus hurts like s***). I mean you get tons of airtime, and the rides are just great! ---Brent 8)
Freefall
CCI's Stampida at port aventura is the only decent woodie I've been on, theres loads of trees surounding the ride so you dont know wot your going to be in for.

Token Yankee Guy
^ They also added trims to it. So Cyclone was pretty much neutered three times over. Sometimes I wish they would tear down Cyclone and rebuild it with the original drop and call it Cyclone's Revenge. Reason why I say that is the coaster is 20 years old and is falling apart. Hell, even Thunderbolt which was built back in the 40's is still going strong because the only thing SFNE has done to it is replaced beams when needed, and they rebuilt the exit bridge so they can add on the Fastlane Entrance and waiting area. Coasterkid20
I like NM Rattler's first drop. It has airtime and twists to the right. I found NM Rattler's First drop to be a lot like Cornball's except not as forceful and violent. I like Cornball's a lot (probably my #2) but last year Legend's just simply blew me away. Scaparri
Isn't Raven an out of the station drop.... that should be awesome.Unexpected No, there's a turnaround and then you go up the lift hill. Anyway, This is an easy question to me...Legend. Ride the thing in the back seat. It is one of the few drops that still makes my stomach cringe. Simply awesome. socalMAN123
So far Legend is the best vote by far! I should go ride it! Brent "I probably won't get to a theme park outside of Cali for another year!" Shenton 8)
memphish
The Legend gets my vote too. Getting thrown up and to the right at the top of the drop, and then having the track swoop back to the left and into that TIGHT tunnel is amazing. "It's a good thing" 1. crispy
I'm going with the NM Rattler, I wouldn't have, but after this past weekend, I don't know if they threw some WD-40 on the wheels or what, but the first drop, and the whole ride was VERY intense, fast and super fun.
