  1. Sweet video. I tried to order a copy of Wild rides from Amazon one time and ended up with this: http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Rides-4-Movie-Pack/dp/B00006CXG6/ref=sr_1_55?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1352150519&sr=1-55&keywords=wild+rides They have since fixed the UPC error.
  2. Hate to be a beggar, but I need some help from my coaster friends out there. I entered a contest a couple of weeks ago to win some 5th row tickets to the The Who in Pittsburgh, PA. The contest was a Halloween photo contest, and as luck would have it ... I made the final cut. Please take a moment from your busy lives to vote for the "Best Couple" (Jay and Silent Bob). I would appreciate it more than you will ever know. http://www.formstack.com/forms/?1320678-zIkPQ8MfNN Thank you again. - CoasterFanatic
  3. Obviously, they haven't read this article: http://www.rideaccidents.com/1999.html
  4. The Dipper at Kennywood. As a child, it was MY coaster at the park. The Raging Rapids still lives on in it's place.
  5. Without being exaggerate in any way. Ron ... Started the inversion wars Started the coaster wars Oversaw the development of the suspended coaster (which later progressed into one of the most popular ... inverted) His contributions to roller coasters is rivaled only to John Miller. He will be missed and most importantly ... remembered.
  6. I am sure that JMA has all kinds of property enhancements in mind ... including ... Building a new 49er stadium Building a parking lot for the new 49ers stadium Building a new hotel for the new 49ers stadium etc, etc
  7. Fixed that for you. They actually put equipment on site due to all the maintenance they were performing.
  8. I honestly believe that any theme park in Las Vegas would fail miserably. Just because a place is a destination, doesn't mean that a theme park will flourish. Ask the banks in Myrtle Beach. // Rode Manhattan Express in peak season with 2 people in the train.
  9. My questions is ... are they using the existing Sky Cabin tower at Knotts for this new attraction. If so, then consider this the space spiral's replacement. I mentioned it a few pages ago and it just makes too much sense.
  10. ^ Correct. It is basically next-door to the parking lot. The tram even stopped and picked us up on our last stay there.
  11. Common sense would dictate that if they would not run for the public in said conditions ... they will most likely not run for us. Either way, I am sure that the event will be a blast.
  12. With the discounts that nearly every coaster-enthusiast can get at the park, I don't think that a $10 discount will cut it. You might want to try lower or just go the eBay route.
  13. I did a quick scan and did see any mention of this (and forgive me if I just missed it), but wouldn't it make the most sense to re-purpose the Space Spiral into a "Starflyer" if that is the ride they intend to add. I mean ... it is about 300 ft tall and nobody ever rides the thing. // Just a thought
  14. I doubt it....My daughter is only 4. Ours is 4 too. As in 4 months. See everyone there. // We win
  15. It would have been even better if every coaster on his list has this quote. // The Beast ... really?
  16. To me it looks like a piece of typical wood track (same train) but fabricated from metal. Much like prefab track on Intamin wood. This could be VERY interesting.
  17. The CF Poll Helper is up for those interested ... http://www.coasterfanatics.com/sec_poll/ I was hoping to have the new version up this year, but time is short. Maybe it will debut for the steel poll.
  18. Name: Ted Cromwell Age: 34 What is your roller coaster count? 418 What is your home park? Kennywood What is the nearest big city? Pittsburgh What is your occupation? Programmer for Mega-Huge Law Firm About how many times a year do you visit a park (including your home park)? 1 (Pathetic isn't it) About how many times a year do you travel to a park that is not your home park? 20+ When you travel do you go primarily to amusement parks or do you also try and hit other sites? Mostly Parks, but always game for some beer What is the farthest you’ve traveled to go to an amusement park? Somewhere in England Does roller coaster time get in the way of family time? (Do you choose to miss your children’s or family’s sporting events, holidays, birthdays, etc…) Roller Coasters are a hobby. I try not to miss anything important. Do you have any other major hobbies? Golf. Damn game is almost as expensive as coasters! Do you get feelings of sadness in the offseason? Do you even have an offseason? Do you travel during the offseason? No offseason. That is what airplanes are for. Do you consider yourself friends with someone you met who works at an amusement park? (Or reverse it, if you work or worked and an amusement park have you made friends with enthusiasts?) Plenty of park employee and coaster enthusiast friends. Many have made their way over to my mainstream life. Would it bother you to go to an amusement park by yourself? Nope. Done it plenty. Have you gone to an amusement park by yourself? If so have you ever ran into another enthusiast and tagged along with them? Typically if I am going to hang with someone at a park, we already planned on meeting there. Not into random strangers. Do you find it easy to make friends with other enthusiasts? Sometimes. As long as there is a good balance to the conversations. I just can't talk about rides, rides, rides. Well ... sometimes I can, but not usually. How do you get your coaster news? Straight from the tap. How many different forum sites do you regularly post on? 2 or 3 If there was a poll that asked a large pool of enthusiasts what their favorite roller coaster is, what do you think would be the top 3 responses be for wood? And for steel? Wood: Voyage, Beast, El Toro. Steel: MForce, Diamondback, Goliath. Reason ... the more people you include in the poll, the less exotic the results will be. Same scenario but for amusement parks, what would be the top 3? Cedar Point, Cedar Point, Cedar Point. Reason .... they will find a way Have you ever “stole a kid” to get a credit on a kiddie coaster? Only once, but it was a good friends niece. I guess that makes it ok. Do you cut other categories out of your budget to make trips to parks? (Entertainment, fast food, holidays, tobacco or alcohol, etc…) Fast food and Entertainment, yes. Everything else, no. Before you visit a new park do you research the park finding the best way to navigate the park, get the best deals, or what days to go? Typically, but after awhile it just kind of comes naturally. Do you feel the roller coaster enthusiast community is a warm and accepting community, or a negative and discouraging community? Socially accepting, but mostly negative. Do you like to talk about your hobby with people who are not roller coaster enthusiasts? Not unless I don't like them.
  19. I am sure that they will be there when it opens. B&M likes to regulate the speed on their coasters and unfortunately that is really the only way to do it. The lack of brakes on Manta probably have something to do with the fact that it is nearly 30 mph slower than a B&M hyper.
  20. Nobody has really mentioned it yet, but the reason that the Morgan trains are vastly different on Phantom's Revenge is that they are NOT Morgan trains. The Phantom's Revenge trains are new shells placed over the same old Arrow chassis. Just check out the wheels I also find it funny that people still think that the second half is violent even after they have installed magnetic brakes all over the thing. It might be the only ride trimmed to hell that most people don't notice. My Morgan Top Three: 1. Phantoms Revenge 2. Steel Eel 3. Steel Force
