Santa07 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I'm a bit confused by the $10 upcharge for the backward facing seats. Do they literally take payment at the gate of the ride? Or do you pay for it at the admission gate? Is it "per ride" or do you get a pass for the day? That being said, the ride itself looks phenomenal. The theming of the queue is meh for me, looks a little too Six Flagsish. But hey, for me, if the ride itself kicks A$$, I always look past it. Minimal shade too. WOULD IT KILL THEM TO PUT UP SOME SHADE!???! You buy a wristband from either the park's photo booth or out the front of the ride to ride backwards, they give you a time slot to show up in and you ride it then. It's only valid for one ride. There are poles set up in the queue, so I'm sure shade isn't too far off.
thrillseeker4552 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 This looks fantastic. The ride is so much longer than I expected! The backwards-facing seats are also interesting. Movie World has a winner!
ytterbiumanalyst Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Wow, that looks really fun! Mack's doing a bunch of cool rides these days.
DoinItForTheFame Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Looks like an awesome ride! I'm loving the look of a train traveling through these non-inverting loops!!
Tim Dasco Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 With DC Rivals Hyper Coaster being open for just over a year it has entered its first extended maintinance period. However it seems to be some major working happen to a ride that is only just 1 year old. Photo credit to Gold Coast Theme Parks. So 3 pieces of track from the Air time hill have been removed. Seems odd for a ride thats been only opened a month.
SharkTums Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Yeah, that is certainly not normal yearly maintenance! Especially after year one!
BansheeFanshee Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 This is pretty bizarre. Hopefully it’s just a track integrity issue and not a reshaping of the hill.
DoinItForTheFame Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Very strange... It will be interesting to find out what's actually going on.
BDG Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 (edited) Looks like they've removed the bottom of the first drop as well. https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2018/08/24/620-Track_comes_down_from_DC_Rivals_HyperCoaster_during_annual_maintenance.html Edited August 24, 2018 by BDG
KarlaKoaster Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 So I can only think that it could be excessive forces and they're reprofiling (which is odd, as you'd think they would just trim it), excessive vibration and they're replacing the track, or they have found problems with the standard of manufacture/construction and are fixing it. Any locals have any better ideas? Was this part of the ride really THAT forceful? Or had any uncomfortable forces? It's all a bit odd to see such drastic maintenance a year after opening.

I'm sure it's a combination of everything you just listed. I can't really think of any other reason this much track would be replaced after only a year of operation. Just like Chuck said, this does remind me of what happened with I305.
PKI Jizzman Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 It's open again, but I can't find any info on why they had to remove and rebuild. Anyone know details?
coasterkyle Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 I know I'm like 4 months from the last post but I found this as to why they removed those track sections. After a very successful first season of operation and as part of Village Roadshow Theme Park’s Technical Services and Mack Rides Engineering process of continuous improvement, some minor track adjustments have been identified to further improve what is Australia’s best and smoothest rollercoaster experience. This is currently underway and you can look forward to experiencing the ride again on 17th September. https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2018/08/24/620-Track_comes_down_from_DC_Rivals_HyperCoaster_during_annual_maintenance.html
jlp94 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 They must really care about keeping that "smoothest coaster experience" title then.
inlina Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Rider gets hit by an Ibis (aka 'bin chicken') on DC Rivals Hypercoaster. Yet another reason Queenslanders hate those bin chickens. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
Kanakoonthecoasters Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 I passed out on the Doomsday Destroyer ride. I guess I don't like those kinds of rides. DC Rivals and Green Lantern were really fun.
mary.pesik Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I think this park should add an escape room themed after Grid to the DC Super-Villains Unleashed area. It could work.
walibi owner Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 I was just looking on RCDB and i noticed that Arkham Asylum - Shock Therapy is closed since 2019. does anyone knows what's going on?

Hilltopper39 Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 What great addition. It's kind of nice to see an IP used in 2022 that's not the standard tentpoles we're used to these days. Also these Vekoma family boomerangs looks so perfect that it amazes me one hasn't been built in America yet. One of those would be a great addition to pretty much any park but we still haven't gotten one stateside.
