thrillerman1 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Great trip report! I've really been wanting to get back to Pigeon Forge to ride the SMAC. Looks awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Devins3 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 That report makes me sad that i live 13 hours away from Dollywood. I still managed to get down there twice this year, if I lived any closer I would go much more. The more times i go there the more it solidifies it as my favorite park, especially during the Christmas event. Anyone who hasn't been there must find a way to go no matter the distance. There is something special I can't quite put my finger on about Dollywood, I've never had a bad day there.
rctneil Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Sorry, I haven't keep too up to date on the Dollywood topic. Can someone let me know why Adventure Mountain was removed? I really enjoyed it. Has it been sent to another park or place? It looks from some photos that some of the supporting buildings of Adventure Mountain have been kept. Are those staying? Maybe it was just case of things come and go and Adventure Mountain needed to go but I guess you guys will let me know. Cheers.
CoasterKings908 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Fantastic trip report. It's nice to see that the construction of FireChaser Express is moving along nicely, can't wait to see how it turns out!
mattnz Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 jimmiemac: Your pics of the cinnamon bread...oh...I'm getting so hungry! Great TR. Looks like the park turns out a lovely Christmas celebration. TOPGUN1993: Unique TR! Dollywood looks great through a GoPro. Thanks for sharing.
PKI Jizzman Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Wow! Lots of work has been done so far. Thanks for the update.
Barge84 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Thanks for the pictures. Hoping I can get back to Dollywood next year.

It was taken apart carefully so it could end up somewhere else, no decision was ever made. Not sure why Firechaser Express was planned for that exact plot of land because Adventure Mountain was still a popular attraction.
thrillrider Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Looking good. We are planning on hitting Dollywood sometime next summer.
Vonni Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I'm fairly confident that as popular as Adventure Mountain was, Firechaser will still be a lot more popular.
Guy T. Koepp Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Not that I am in the know or anything, but from what I have heard from around the park, AM was a staffing nightmare and a possible liability issue for it being a general admission attraction. Ended up costing them much more annually than they were expecting. So, take that with a grain of salt.
A.J. Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Honestly, Adventure Mountain was my main draw to try and go to Dollywood because I love ropes courses. But, Firechaser Express looks really cool. It kind of looks like Adventure Mountain never existed...
Woodie Warrior Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Dollywood looks beautiful. Nice to see construction has already started on FireChaser. Are they planning on having it open for Opening Day 2014?
Jon Sabo Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Very nice photos and thanks for posting them! I am looking forward to FCE and Cinnamon bread in 2014!!!
thrillrider Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Just thinking of the cinnamon bread is making me drool.
DBru Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Did Blazing Fury used to be open during the Christmas event back when it was braked by water? Yes. And it was cold! Geez. Those Tennessians are crazy... I love it!
Wes Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Just thinking of the cinnamon bread is making me drool. Same. I need someone to FedEx me some!!
ArizonaGuy Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Nice DollyWood update. Looks like they're pretty far along on construction on the new coaster.
coasterbill Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 FireChaser Express is really moving along. When we were there 2 weeks ago there was very little track visible from the midway.
disneymoc Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Here are a few more photos from Fire Chaser that I took yesterday. That lift hill looks so long. I didn't realize just how massive this project was. It weaves with old Adventure Mountain pieces really well.
Gnome Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I really need to make it a priority to get to Dollywood. So many amazing shows and rides.
gerstlaueringvar Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 The support looks so strange on the last picture. Is there a reason why Gerstlauer designed it like that?
rcjp Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 ^Do you mean last picture or second to last? If so, well... I don't really know either. Looking really good and decently sized for a family coaster.
