Swimace
^^ Thats such a stupid book. Making a statement like that without giving any reasons does nothing but make you look ignorant. Like I said, I'm a political junkie. I got the chance to meet and talk to one of the most controversial political observers of our time and I jumped at the chance. The woman has been on the New York Times best seller list with all six of her books, so there's obviously something to be taken from the experience of getting to meet someone who has been so successful. For the record, I've seen a lot more liberal politicians in person than conservative ones, including some big names like Barack Obama and John Edwards. I think it's important to try to see things from more than one angle, rather than just saying "well that's stupid". That may be just me though.... ParkTrips
don't worry.. fortunately he won't be able to vote for 4 more years! Though there is a lot of that sort of attitude among the electorate =/ and I know what you mean by meeting famous people you don't even care for.. terrancew_hod
Darren Hayes of Savage Garden - Escorted around a Benefit show before and after he performed. Got kudos from him and his manager after making sure everything was ok... now I get to work the stage at all the benefits including this Sunday for the Miami AIDS walk. Cyndi Lauper - Saw her for a few seconds before she threw a diva fit at a staff member. I tipped out the back door. Roberta Flack - Met her in the hallway of a hotel when I was little. She got mad at me because I smelled her Jeri Curl it stunk (the things a little kid will say) Sylverster (sung "You make me feel mighty real") - Met at a family reunion. Carmen Electra/Dennis Rodman - Sat by them at a Female Impersonation pageant. Dennis was acting all ghetto yelling up at the stage while people tried to get his autograph. I said "Why are you getting his autograph? Get Carmen's. She's beat! Dennis glared while she giggled. Jonathan Knight "Of New Kids" - He was drunk and was hitting on my friend. Matt Rush - A bit more than met, since we party together on occasion. Part of my "hanging with the gay porn stars" days. Will Downing (Jazz Singer) - met him backstage after a concert. All Im saying is that alot of the stuff in her books are lies. She's just an overrated redneck right wing fundamentalist woman... Dare I quote her for the rest to see? Swimace
^Again, no real points, just name calling and bad grammar. Dare you quote her? I don't care, I've read three of her books and I've seen her speak twice, I pretty much know what she stands for. In two posts you've offered absolutely no valid arguments, just name calling. ...and since when are lawyers from Connecticut labeled as rednecks? Also, since when is being a right-wing fundamentalist woman a bad thing? Just because you don't like what someone has to say doesn't mean you can't learn a bit from them. Anyways, this dispute is off topic. I met Ann Coulter last night, sfotkid thinks she's a big meany and disapproves. I can live with that... odene497
As far as Anne Coulter, I read some of "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans". I tried seeing her points on some things, but she gave me a bad image of her in the gay chapter, and her reasoning for being against gay marriage. She says something to the affect of "marriage is to capture a man's predatorial feelings into raising children". Because Every married straight couple have kids. And gay couples have none. As far as people I've met or whatever, I can't really think of any. I know there's a few but none I can name. Although, when we were inside the White House we looked out the window to see George Bush leaving the building underneath us, entering his helicopter and flying away. -Nick

I met Ann Coulter last night, sfotkid thinks she's a big meany and disapproves Yep your right, every good writer has hate sites dedicated to them! Anyway, Here's a conversation with Ann, and Bob Mckeown from CBC Coulter: "Canada used to be one of our most loyal friends and vice-versa. I mean Canada sent troops to Vietnam - was Vietnam less containable and more of a threat than Saddam Hussein?" McKeown interrupts: "Canada didn't send troops to Vietnam." Coulter: "I don't think that's right." McKeown: "Canada did not send troops to Vietnam." Coulter (looking desperate): "Indochina?" McKeown: "Uh no. Canada ...second World War of course. Korea. Yes. Vietnam No." Coulter: "I think you're wrong." McKeown: "No, took a pass on Vietnam." Coulter: "I think you're wrong." McKeown: "No, Australia was there, not Canada." Coulter: "I think Canada sent troops." McKeown: "No." Coulter: "Well. I'll get back to you on that." Lol, right real smart lady.

Swimace
^haha, have you actually read what I have been trying to say in these posts or do you just like to point out typos? ^^...and yet you still haven't touched on anything in her books, which is what this whole thing started over. If "the book is stupid", then give a reason why, but you can't. You can dodge it all you want, but you still seem to be unable to back up your first statement. I really think you just don't get it because your argument shifts in every post you make. First you say "that book is stupid", then you just call her a redneck, then you post a famous interview where on a rare occasion she made a historical mistake. My argument is that you can learn a lot from seeing someone like that, her debate skills are excellent and she has some really good insight into conservative politics. Maybe you missed that I go see a lot of people who are relevant within the political world, whether they be liberal or republican, but unlike a lot of people I think it's worth truly trying to understand both sides. She is a shock jock, but if you get past that she is occasionally right on a lot of things. On that note, I wish I was stupid enough to make it through law school and be on the New York Times best seller list six times, but I guess she's just not as smart as 14 year old sfotkid who seems to know it all.... As far as Anne Coulter, I read some of "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans". I tried seeing her points on some things, but she gave me a bad image of her in the gay chapter, and her reasoning for being against gay marriage. And gay couples have none. -Nick This is a respectful response from somebody who gives an argument and backs it up respectfully. This is a good post, whereas just saying "that book is stupid" or "she's a redneck" is a bad post. Do you see the difference?

Teacups Make Me Sick
^^I can care less about what your opinion is on politics. This form is about what celebrities you have met. Swimace
I never stated my views on politics, but rather that I feel it's important to listen to both sides. If I meet Ralph Nader or Al Gore I'll post it in here and I'm sure you'd be thrilled for me. Until then, you're right, we have gotten off topic and this isn't a politics thread so I'm tapping out of this one.

Looty
I work at the Mall of America so I see a ton of celebrities. I was leaving work one night around 11:30 and I heard terrible sounding music...I walked a little further and discovered that it was Ashley Simpson going through a rehersal for her performance on grand opening for Nick Universe. The worse celebrity though would have to be Lindsay Lohan! She was the ultimate drama queen when she visited. She demanded all of these random things like re-rides and I guess apparently people were trying to purchase her onride photo on Timberland Twister and she had a meltdown and demanded that it be erased. Other than that, I see a ton of local celebrities all the time. I'm a huge Minnesota Vikings fan so I see a lot of them all the time. Matt Birk (for those who know who he is) comes all the time with his daughter so it's cool to see him. Oh I heard an old story about an employee getting fired for letting Hulk Hogan ride Ripsaw with his son when his son wasn't tall enough (so this was a long time ago). downunder
^That's funny, I was at Mall of America in late 1992 & Schwarzenegger was paying a visit, I just missed him at Hooters. That place must be a celebrity magnet.
AllenA07
^^I got in Lindsey Lohan's way once, and she proceeded to shove me out of the way. I turned around (not knowing what smacked into me) to tell the person to watch where they're going (in not so nice of words) but opted not to when I saw who it was that shoved me... Not that I wouldn't have enjoyed telling her off, but her body guards were much bigger than me.
