Six Flags Great America (SFGAm) Discussion Thread

p. 513 - Wrath of Rakshasa dive coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

Meh. I don't want V2 to leave.

Given the moderate spending in recent times, I don't see how SFGAm comes out ahead on the deal. And no, we aren't getting a Giga by removing V2 and the flumes

As unrealistic as it may sound I really wish we did get a giga. another cool idea is some other sort of launch coaster. Here ill just list some of the coasters i think be cool for this park to get. Im not saying I want the park to get every single one of these but Im just listing ideas for a good next new coaster if they were to add one.

-Giga

-some sort of launch coaster maybe like Full Throttle from MM or a coaster like Accelerator or Storm Runner

-an Intamin coaster similar to Mavrick

-or even a Eurofighter would be pretty awesome.

-a coaster like X2 would be so neat although i know we are already getting a 4d coaster.

There's honestly a very good chance that this rumor is a complete load of crap so I wouldn't worry too much.

Big fan of V2.

Bigger fan of the flumes.

I'd be pretty sad if either one was taken down for more Gotham stuff. Not sure what they'd use the V2 space for; it's not much...which is why I think this is just a stupid Screamscape rumor.

Wait, I guess you could put one of those premier launch coasters in that space. Sure, what the hell. Let's trade V2 for one of those haha.

Yeah, my hesitation is that removing V2 doesn't really free up space for much. If they just remove V2 then they're really just getting rid of it so another park can get a cheap addition and they can reduce operating expenses. If they remove V2 and one of / both of the flumes then the speculation will swirl about an expensive new addition, but that doesn't really fit the Six Flags model and I feel like it might be awhile before they dump a bunch of money into a park that they've already spent a ton of money on in the last few years with X Flight, Goliath, Joker and Justice League.

Plus from an enthusiast standpoint (not that the park cares)... if a ride comes at the expense of 2 flumes and an Intamin Impulse coaster then it had better be god damn amazing.

Yea, I'm not putting any stock in it given the source... Just stating that my viewpoint seems to be the opposite of most in the thread (like most times ).

This would totally go in Gotham City and would probably replace Blizzard River even though they don't really have to replace anything to add it, but I'd love if they found a way to put this in the HITP section of the park.

For what it's worth . . . Blizzard River is a nice change of pace (as long as my shoes/socks don't get too wet), but it doesn't run early/late in the operating season because of colder weather.

Hey Great Escape is due for another used coaster...

The neighbors already complain about noise from the Alpine Bobsled which has led to completely asinine opening and closing times. Impulse coasters are some of the loudest coasters in existence so I don't really see that being a fit.

Right I forgot about how it closes at 6. Well guess I'll still have to wait for another hand me down to become available.

I never really thought about V2's location for Joker, but now that it was brought up, it does feel like it would have been a better location than where it is going to be located. But whats done is done lol!

Just went on the website and here is what they have listed on the thrill rides page under Goliath:

Take on Goliath, the world's tallest, steepest and fastest wooden roller coaster!

It never held the height record (although it still holds the record for longest drop on a wooden coaster) and lost the speed record to Lightning Rod (whenever that coaster has operated)

Maybe they can rebuild the Tidal Wave in the spot left over when V2 leaves. With the same flat-ish, non-bucket seats, etc. You know, keep it classic-like. There is nothing quite as good (and roomy) as the old Schwarzkopf rolling stock. Hey, dreaming is free!
