Cixot
If SOB Does Reopen, Give it one more chance, Sit in the very front seat and don't lean back. Any Coaster Can be rough if you have your back against the seat. I was in the front seat. It's a lot worse then it was with the old trains. angryemobeaver
I have a great idea: lets speculate on a topic that should be in the rumor thread while arguing with an irrational KI fanboy. Sounds like a blast. And yes, I've been to Kings Island more than once and I think SoB is a pretty terrible coaster. Why should it be in the rumor thread if it is infact closed? carolinacaniac
^But that is the thing, not everyone enjoys the same qualities (or inqualities from some viewpoints) as you. Some people may not have a pain tolerance that allows them to enjoy it either. While I would be willing to give SOB another try since they changed trains and removed the loop since the last time I rode it, I don't know that I am prepared to believe that my opinion of it will change in a drastic manner, as I was not a very huge fan the last time I rode it. -Gary T. SFOGdude25
Different people have different coaster pain tolerances. Mine happens to be pretty high, so I find Son of Beast to be bearable. Anyway (before I get completely side tracked lol), one can only wonder what will happen next with this monster of a woodie. Sure it's visually impressive, and it can be fun, but the majority of the ride is pretty mediocre. However, I have a feeling that tearing it down would not only be expensive, but would be a rather large upset for Kings Island. We will just have to see what happens. Swimace
IMO, If SoB wasn't rough it would be a *decent* woodie, but I still don't think it would be close to being great. There isn't really airtime on this ride and the bottom of the helix is the only place where there's some real intensity that is more than just violent shaking. The speed of the ride is great, but I'd rather take a slower coaster with more forces and intensity. Why should it be in the rumor thread if it is infact closed? Rides go down all the time, it's pretty common. Did I miss something here? Is this confirmed to be closed for the entire season?
CPmaverick
I don't like SOB for one reason, and it is not the roughness. It's just a boring layout for me.

A separate thread was made for Millennium Force's cable snapping, or whatever happened to it a couple weeks ago. No one knew how long MF would be down. Some said weeks, some said months, hell, it was open in a matter of days. How is this any different? SOB has been down for a couple days, it's not like it was down for 3 hours today and people are freaking out because there was no one working on it, or something of the sort. WFChris
I rode it last season and it made Psyclone seem like the smoothest ride on the planet. My dead last placing coaster, right behind its father, the Beast!!!! Chris.
coasterguy618
I really think everyone who say Son of Beast is extremely painful suffers from an extremely bad condition. Yeah Son of Beast has 1 Rough spot, but other than that, it's a great coaster and one of my favorites. If you can't take that little of pain, I don't see how you are a coaster enthusiast. I personally like when Coasters have some rough spots, Don't get me wrong I love B&Ms. But sometimes B&Ms are too smooth and I feel like I'm just on my computer watching a POV. SOB is a great Coaster, The helices are super forceful and are twice as good as Beast's awesome Double Helix. If SOB Does Reopen, Give it one more chance, Sit in the very front seat and don't lean back. Any Coaster Can be rough if you have your back against the seat. Well sure, coming from the KI fanboy who has a Diamondback avatar and a park ridecount in his signature.
XII
I really hope Son of Beast gets torn down. While I don't find it to be painful or super rough like many claim it is, it just doesn't do anything. It's just helix after helix after helix after helix. With the amount of wood it uses, you could build two coasters that are both much more interesting than Son of Beast. gnewton34
I'm scared. I just saw Son of Beast, awesome, great and favorite used in sentences together. I am now expecting a swarm of locusts to descend upon the lands at any minute.

Yeah I don't like some Coasters, but I can't think of any Coaster I would want to be removed. If your an Enthusiast, You love just about every Coaster, weather it's how it rides, how it sounds, or how it looks. And Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean It should be removed, it's not like you have to ride it. If you don't like it, don't ride it, shorter lines for the people like me who do like Riding SOB...

My dead last placing coaster, right behind its father, the Beast!!!! Chris. Funny... I rode it two weeks ago and it was perfect! Everybody warned me about how rough it would be before my visit and it turned out fine! Mean Streak however is a piece of crap that beat me up the second it fell from it's trim braked drop. Mean Streak is the worst coaster I've ever been on. I'd rather ride Ghostrider backwards.

Wes
Ok, the pointed arguing with each other and name calling needs to stoppity stop. We're on a roller coaster message board, take a deep breathe and chill. Thanks.
Erik Johnson
TEar it Down....Something of quality could go in there instead of that pile of firewood. Have you ridden Son of Beast lately? I rode it last month, it was as bad as always. Seriously, that thing can really hurt people. I consider it to be the worst coaster I have ever ridden. Erik "Never going to ride SOB again" Johnson. Yeti762
I have said for years that the only thing that is going to help SOB is a match - taer it down! My husband rode it last month and just hated it. (and this is after riding it once last year, and swearing he'd never ride it again!)
EnglndPatriots6
Do you think they could reuse some of the materials to make a new coaster? If they could do that get a Plug-N-Play or GCI and name it "Revenge Of The Beast" or something. Or just call it Son Of Beast. Most GP wouldnt notice the difference. i dont think so. i heard when ever that accident on the lift hill was that they used the wrong kind of wood or something. at least that pile of might be removed . i say to replace it with a eurofighter lol. or maybe add a ride like timber tower in dollywood

Vffreak07
Maybe they could do some kinda beneficial thing with all the Cedar Fair parks after they dismantle it. Ya know how they're having Nik Wallenda at most of the CF parks? Maybe next year they could have bonfires on Sunday Nights or something fun like that. Just a thought. I was two trains from getting on the ride that day in the front seat when the first of two trains of riders came back injured. From the looks of it, there was no accident this time around, just a decision made not to open it.
PKI Jizzman
Okay, so it's still a RUMOR it's "closed for the year" I'm pretty sure if it's closed for 09 we will get a press release soon. It's a very popular ride despite how rough it is, I HIGHLY doubt they'd just hang a sign on SoB and say it's closed for 09, go away. Just wait for the park's word.
