Kennyweird
Gee, I'd have to go with the pre-lift on the Thunderbolt at Kennywood. Its got two decent sized drops, an nice turnaround with some high laterals, and a little pop of air at the end (if you sit near the front, that is.) DBru
I have this memory of something that may not have existed... for some reason, I remember a coaster at Opryland that had its main drop right out of the station. Not that it should be trusted, but my memory is that the lift hill was the last element of the ride and took you back up to the station. Looking at the coasters on RCDB and other sites, it looks as though Opryland never had something like that. Anyone know of a ride like that in the midwest or south in the 80s? I was very young and could be merging some memories together Are you thinking about Red Devil (now Cliffhanger) at Ghost Town in the Sky?
thrillgeek
I'm sort of fond of the one on the Santa Cruz Giant Dipper. That's a good one. Eric I agree 100%. Roar's turn into the lift is pretty cool too.
sixflagsguy5
I'm going with Hydra and Hades. I'm not a big fan of Thunderbolt, besides the fact that it's an old wooden coaster and it's not that rough. Also, the Bobsleds at Seabreeze have a nice little prelift. astroworldfan1
I really like the Dahlonega Mine Train's pre lift. It takes you thru the train maintance area and train storage area. -Tatum
haiderodes
I'm a fan of Roar! at SFDK. There was more to the pre-left than I expected. My least favorite had to be Flashback at SFMM. I was a fan of the ride, but that sudden drop onto the lift forced you out of your seat in a very uncomfortable fashion.
dammie16@vt.edu
^^Thats kinda like Tennessee Tornado as well and it is a cool pre-lift "show" (for fanatics that is )

I didn't even know you could lift before you lift. That joke would be relevant if you read the thread. But this is about the track sections before the lift hill, so prelift actually makes sense. Zing.

But this is about the track sections before the lift hill, so prelift actually makes sense. Zing. Hey man, it was just a light-hearted observation, not an attack on anyone. The fact that you took offense to it and had to "zing" me is your problem, not mine. Yes, I did read the thread and understand the topic, despite the often rampant, trendy, and gramatically incorrect use of pre in today's culture (hence my joke's relevence). In this case, you are correct. Let's be cool, and I apologize right now for the offense. Ok?
WFChris
Giant Dipper at the San Diego...boardwalk thing...kinda cute little prelift tunnel. Its dark and smells like grease Chris.
downunder
^I agree with you on the Belmont Park Dipper, the dark bit before the lift hill was the only part I remembered. BTW Yosemite rocks - I love that park, even though the trek up half dome terrified me.
lame coaster dude
Hades, 3 nice pops of air before the lift Hydra's was pretty good too, but Supersonic Odyssey looks ever better
SFAfan#1
I think the best pre-lift will be the one from that new coaster for Thrope Park. It looks like alot of fun. The best pre-lift to me now, would be any coaster that launches straight up (Kingda Ka, TTD, Stealth, etc). Those build up so much anticipation before the ride actually begins. I also like Hydra's and Nemesis Inferno's pre-lifts.
christianscoasters
X2 (I rode it when it was X, however). You leave the station backwards, and you watch your feet inches from the floor, but when you finally get out of the station, it's a big drop off (ish) and then the seats tilt back, and you realize that it's going to be a totally different experience. palmerleeberry
Hey, Hey, Hey- I must say that two coasters located in KENNYWOOD have interesting pre-lifts; in fact, the lift hills are in the middle of the ride. Of course, I'm talking about The Jack Rabbit and Thunderbolt. Then at my homepark of Kings Dominion, I like the pre-lifts of the Rebel Yell. Im looking forward to Thorpe Parks new coaster, hopefully the dark ride section before the lift will be well themed. Im also a fan of launched coasters that launch from the station itself such as Rita, Stealth, Xcelerator. I know its not really much of a pre lift but I love being so close when the train gets thrown out the station. Its great fun to see the expressions people pull. jason10
For me, it has to be Nemesis Inferno! I love the tunnel filled with mist and how it just glides effortlessly. Here's a video of it! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbz_TyC2-_o

kidcoaster 2
I love the speed you can get on The Blue Streak at Clp in the tunnel before the lift. Also its know as the Skunk Tunnel because if you ever walk through it you find bones of skunks every where they tend to live there.
BuschSchoe
The Big Bad Wolf, The Loch Ness Monster, Lightning Racer, and Space Mountain (WDW) all have great prelifts.
