Jon Sabo
I'm going to add my 2 cents worth here and agree that it may be a B&M Flyer. Having said that, I am also going out on a limb here and predict that CP will build the worlds first: Hyper-Flyer. I'm still not convinced on an Intamin ride (even that new design similar to a launch (X-style chassis) system. Invert? Already have. Floorless? That design has been rather quiet of late (unless they added another inversion-element design to the mix). This can only lead towards a flyer. I'm not really even banking on a woodie at this point based on some past issues (especially re-profiling). A hyper-flyer could very easily put other park vendors out of reach for awhile (even 6 flags!). In addition, the flyer may incorporate a new design element that we may not even see coming. I remember when Raptor was announced, it certainly was no Batman and it was the largest invert at the time.
JamesMC
I am banking on a B&M flyer, but I think the 500 ft or dueling flyers may be a bit of an exaggeration. I do think they will build the tallest, fastest and most inverted Flyer yet. I don't think there is enough space for two good coasters, but I do think there is enough space for one GREAT one. I also think that the "Maverick" might also be used at Knotts and not necessarily at CP. Just my .02 though.
BC
This is a sort of out on a limb idea no one has mentioned yet, but this ride is going into frontierland sectino of the park. Last time I checked Mean Streak sucked, and blue streak is an old classic wooden coaster. What if they biult a giant dueling Intamin woodie. World's tallest fastes etc wooden coaster, which is probably possible with the intamin style track. I mean CP has a very good relatonship with intamin over the years and this seems to be the next big thing. There is only 1 style of coaster liek this in America, so record breaking, revolutionary, fitting to the themed area, why not? I've never been on a B&M flyer, but I think I'd still love to see the point get a big new wooden coaster that is going to rock. Well, I did mention this idea 15 posts before you... Not that it matters. OK, it does matter if it does turn out to be a racing Intamin woodie in the end... he he. Also, the name Maverick couldn't fit any other kind of coaster better than a woodie...! jamesdillaman
why would they build a flyer or floorless when they have both right next door at geauga lake. They're trying to boost attendance there, too, so I doubt they would 1-up their other park like that. If they build a B&M I think it will be a dive machine or dueling something, but another wooden coaster would be very nice. Beating Son of Beasts record would be ludacris on Cedar Fair's part, though. Son of Beast has the title of tallest and fastest woodie, yet many, many people don't like it. Plus wooden coasters take up far more real estate than steel. They have a lot more structure, and space is something cedar point doesn't have as a luxury. As with anything, we'll just have to wait for more hints to come out on the blog, but I'd just be happy with any full-circiut traditional coaster, as TTD and WT left me wanting a chain lift... It's been a long time, CP... -James
CP_RULES
A spinning coaster would be an awesome addition to the park, and it is logical, but all the CP fanboys would whine about the lack of a major roller coaster...........but I'd like to see a spinning coaster like Tarantula or Spinball Whizzer, because it would be a better addition to the park (caters to the whole family, not just the older ones). There is something you must consider about this, CP is going to be building something big for the 2007 season- its almost certain. With the CEO (I think) retiring, He is going to want to go out with a BANG! Knowing this, if they were to build something smaller (like a spinning coaster), they would probably ALSO build something big. This may be what Tyler and Tony meant by saying: put “two and two together,” Justin "Im not exactly a CP fanboy, despite my screen name," Seabaugh
COASTER FREAK 11
Has any one seen the footers for the new ride? That might give us a clue as to at least the size of it and if there are two station areas set up. I cant find pics any where...
ECZenith
I don't think there were many footers poured on the blog update. Definately none in shape of anything in particular. Someone should go for recon photos.

Carnage
The park isn't even open yet. And even when it opens I don't think there's going to be alot to see. You guys are reading too much into this, just enjoy the season and wait for the announcement. The 2 and 2 comment could refer to 1 B&M just as much as it could be hinting at dueling. cprocks22
Nice pics, thanks. I think the put two and two together thing is just putting what they said together with what you see in the park. Im starting to think it might be a B&M sit down. They havent built one in a while, and there great rides.

DATman
I still doubt it will be dueling, as, even though he may want to go out with a bang, there's still the price factor. ^Possible B&M track? If you look at this one: http://pointpics.com/other/project2007/mProject20070005.JPG The peice with the block of wood on it definitely has a B&M shape to it. But, I could just be crazy.... Real
I think its actually Intamin or S&S. Look at the round indentation on top - connection to support and all B&M's are square.
TheStig
Yeah from the looks of this picture, I think its definately an Intamin. You can see the cross member that Intamin track is known for, but I could be wrong... pointpics.com/other/project2007/mProject20070007.JPG Colin C EDIT: This pic looks like the 3 tube intamin track. pointpics.com/other/project2007/mProject20070005.JPG
SharkTums
I thought it was known that it was another Intamin Prototype??? Did I miss something, or what's going on? I still don't understand Cedar Point's thing to keep getting giant low capacity prototype rides, but whatever!
DATman
^That'd be awesome. I hoe it is. Maybe it's a wing walker, like the one at Port Aventura.

rollermonkey
Wow. You guys are reading a lot into a group of shapes under some blue tarps. If CP want's to keep this all a secret, and that is in fact track, they are going to need a LOT of blue tarps! Why didn't this guy lift a corner and shoot? It's a CP planted image! We are being manipulated by the evil Cedarfair corporation! If it's an Intamin, another prototype they were working on was the 'Ball' coaster. That'd fit folks interpretations of the clues as a 4D. If it's B&M, I don't care what type it is. I'll probably enjoy it. I do hope for the dueling rumor to pan out, it is by far the most attractive rumor of the lot! Jon Sabo
Why (or where) are some of the posts here projecting that CP is getting a Dive Machine?... For the record: research from a patent/contract office (cant find website at the moment). As of the signing with B&M contract with BEC (Busch Ent. Corp.), it states that no other park within the US and surrounding territories (including Mexico and Canada) shall not engage in acquiring a "DIVE MACHINE PRODUCT-FROM MFG-BOLLIGER & MABILLARD" The contract also states that the time period is for "FIVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS WITH AN ADDITIONAL 2 YR EXTENSION DEEMED NECESSARY IF (BEC) SO CHOOSES TO PURSURE ADDITIONAL PRODUCT (DIVE MACHINE) FOR ANY OF ITS OTHER PARK PORTFOLIO'S" So, as to clarify that report, CP WONT be receiving a DM for the near future (and actually I heard that BEC actually granted that extension and quite possibly be looking at the Sea World Park (Ca?) for the 3rd DM installation in 2009 (or 2010). Jon Sabo
Sorry for the double post, but I clicked on that link for the pics and they do not show up (it says this page is no longer available)...did the page go on vacation?..lol If there is another link that shows the track-photo, please post it. I still have a firm belief its (B&M-Hyper Flyer), or an Intamin-based ride. You know, I recall an earlier reading (either from this forum or another) regarding the CP posts of the footers. If we all look closely, look at how the rebar-bracing are coming out of the footers. Upon closer view I have noticed the same thing another person has. B&M flyer(s)-including SFMM, has a set # pattern around each bolt pattern. The pic(s) are NOT even consistent with a B&M support footer. This sounds strange, but I may even be leaning away from a B&M project and perhaps see it as an Intamin now. Its making my head spin for sure..lol Does anyone else feel/view the same scenario (regarding those footer-pics)???
