Worst/Longest/Slowest Line you ever waited in!

Once it reaches an hour I'm done and thats for a good ride. I try and wait like 30minutes and go on days that crowds are minimal. Waaay too impatient. If the ride breaks down though and i have waited a decent amount of time, i usually stick to the line because i don't want to have to rewait what i just stood in line for. One time the Hulk was down in Universal and i waited it out. By the time the ride was back up, i was next in line for the front since everyone left because they didnt know how long the wait was going to be.

I normally wont wait for more than 1 hour for any ride unless its a ride that I really want to go on and I haven't been on it before. However, Some of the longest lines I have been on have been Star Tours (2 plus hours) which was when the ride was new at Disneyland and Toy Story Mania (100 minutes) which was last year at WDW.

At Disneyland I'll wait 45-50 minutes for an e-ticket ride if I'm in between Fast Passes and need to kill some time, especially since they started enforcing return times.

 

45-50 minutes would probably be the same time I would wait for a big ticket ride at any other park, but since I go so seldom (living in the Northwest) I almost always pony up for the Fast Lane or whatever pass is available.

At my home park (Valleyfair), I won't wait more than 45 minutes for anything, but at other parks, I'll wait in a two-hour line for something if it's something that looks truly awesome. If it's something that looks "meh", probably no more than 30 minutes.

At my home park Cedar Point, I have pretty specific wait times for what I will and won't go on, depending on the posted time.

 

For example, I typically end up waiting an hour and a half for maverick, if its a busy day. However I won't wait longer than an hour for Millennium Force, and no more than 15 for Mantis.

 

Knowing intamin and that park, there can be quite a few breakdowns, and I usually wait them out. Luckily I've barely had any breakdowns this year, fingers crossed it continues.

 

 

If I'm at a park I rarely go to, or is out of state and I'm only going for a day every couple of years, I splurge and get a fast pass, so I can't really provide any input for other parks.

Well, Waited about 6 hours on Gringott's Opening day to get 2 rides in...and would have waited longer with my good friends.

 

If I'm at a new faraway park with something I want to ride: Whatever it takes.

 

If I'm at an Orlando park with a visiting group : Probably an hour and a half, if I had to.

 

If I'm at an Orlando park solo or friends who've also seen it all: I'm not going on any day where I have to wait more than 40 minutes for anything.

At my home park of SFGadv, the longest I will wait in a line is 45 min. But I rarely ever even have to wait that, as I try to go to the park on least crowded days, and days where the weather will keep crowds away.

And anytime I visit a park I have never been to, I always try to go during the offseason, or when crowds will be the least.

I've waited 3 hours to ride a B&M Hyper, and possibly more, as the ride kept breaking down (Goliath SFOG), so I think I could probably tolerate a line upwards of 2-3 hours if it was something really good and everything else was packed too. I probably would've waited in the 7 hour line for Gringotts on opening day,and the rides line just looks so well themed. So if it's a really good ride I could wait 2-3 hours (if there were no other options other then waiting in a line) and if it was a world class ride like something at Disney or Universal I could wait 4-5 hours, and if it is a new world class ride I could wait more then half a day.

Which I think is strange considering I usually have no patience with other things and I dread entering a long line, but when i'm in the line I most likely won't get out.

Really depends on the ride.

 

For good ones, up to an hour doesn't phase me. Over an hour is when it gets questionable...but I will do it if I really like it.

I've waited 90 mins for Mforce, Nitro, Skyrush.

Over 90 minutes is usually when I'd walk away, but there are always situations I'd do it like a breakdown (was next to ride Kingda Ka when it went down and ended up waiting 3 hours) or Fright Fest when the park is a sardine can and we don't want to leave early (2 hours 45 mins for El Toro)

For less than good ones, just depends. Some I won't bother if it's more than 5.

If I'm at one of my usual parks, CGA or SFDK I tend to only go on slow days so I can maximize my fun. But if it happens to be busy, I won't wait more than an hour.

 

As far as going to parks I've never been to or don't get a chance to frequent I tend to get the flash pass/fastlane/whatever that particular park calls it. If I'm going to be somewhere I've never been I want to experience all the rides that I'm looking to and don't want to leave the park bummed, because I was not able to get on a coaster that I wanted to.

I'm usually pretty greedy with line times. I am spoiled at my home park TGE. Often times I can go around my usual circuit Of Comet, Bobsled, Boomerang and Sasquatch in under a hour if I hustle. Most days I don't have to wait for comet at all. So when I go to other parks 30 minutes seems outrageous but 45 minutes is usually my cap at new parks

I have no qualms waiting in a long line as long as it is moving. For example, despite having already ridden Gold Striker 7 times with the Season Pass Holder ERT, I had no problem riding it later in the day. The wait was about an hour, but it was moving since the ride attendants were dispatching trains quite quickly. Meanwhile, at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, I rode Superman 3 times in the morning before the wait formed and when I went back later, I would guess the line was almost 2 hours. The ride was fantastic, but the line moved too slowly.

A few things come into my mind when regarding waiting.

 

1. Have I been to this park before? - If the park is something I've never experienced before, then it might not be worth waiting for just one ride when all rides are new to me.

 

2. Have I been on this ride before? - If the attraction is the only thing I've not been on in the park, then it may be worthwhile waiting.

 

3. How many days have I at the park? - If I've travelled a while to be at the park, and only have a short time there, then why waste it all on one long ride queue.

The longest I have ever queued was 2 1/2 hours for Colossus at Thorpe Park. The park was completely rammed with people, and as a result ALL rides had massive queues. It was a matter of queue a long time for just 3 rides, or simply don't go on anything.

^I agree. It does depend on all of those things. Having already been to cedar point for two days with maverick closed, once I return I'll be willing to wait basically as long as I have to. One of the longest queues I've waited in was for Kingda Ka (2h30min) because it was one of the rides I was looking forward to the most. I'm not sure I'd do the same with all the others.

Top 20 coaster, opening year, big park with big crowd-8 hours. Example: Goliath

Top 20 coaster, big park with big crowd-4 hours. Example: Maverick

Top 20 coaster, regular size park, regular crowd- 3 hours. Example: iSpeed

Top 100 coaster, opening year- 4 hours

Top 100 coaster-3 hours

 

With Fast Lane or similar systems:

Whatever, it's already less wait than regular lines so what else can I ask for?

For a good coaster, I'll wait an hour and a half.

For an 'eh' coaster, I'll wait no longer than 45 minutes.

For a GREAT coaster, I will wait 2 hours.

Usually when the lines are over an hour and a half for the major rides I'll buy a Flash Pass / Fastlane. It depends on the situation and the park though... I don't really have a set limit.

 

I don't mind long lines when they move quickly (even if they're still over an hour), I just mind them when they never go anywhere due to slow operations. Goliath at SFNE and Kingda Ka are perfect examples of this. With Kingda Ka we only ride it at night now thanks to Zumanjaro... that way when Zumanjaro closes for the night Kingda Ka can launch more than 2 trains every 10 minutes. Meanwhile I'd have no problem waiting a long time for something like Forbidden Journey at Universal where you never really stop moving while you're in line.

I usually weigh several factors:

 

How often do I get to ride this?

What is the usual wait time?

How much do I like the ride?

Is the park busy today?

It depends on how often I get to the park (or if I will be back at all) and how good of a ride it is.

 

At my home parks, Great Adventure and Dorney, I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for anything since I go to both parks so often it is no big deal to skip a ride.

 

If it is a major coaster at a park I only get to once every year or two (like Hersheypark), I'd be willing to wait around an hour.

 

If it is a coaster at a park that is far away, and it's a good ride I'd probably wait up to 90 minutes. If it was a clone or a bad ride like a boomerang, even if it's a new credit, I wouldn't wait more than 20 - 30 minutes. For a kiddie coaster credit, I wouldn't wait more than 10 minutes. If I was at a park that had a lot of coasters and I knew I won't be back any time soon and they had Fast Lane, Flash Pass or something similar I'd probably buy it to make sure I got all the coasters in and to avoid long lines. Whenever I get to Cedar Point, I know I will buy Fast Lane Plus because once I go, I won't be going back again anytime soon.

4.5 hours for Volcano back when it only had 4 rows. The day before, we got 2 hours in when it went down for the day due to a roll back. Not fun!

 

That was a rough era for PKD. OTSRs for FoF, and only 4 rows on Volvano. Yuck!

2 hours is normally my limit, and even then I'll usually skip. I'll only wait that long or longer in special circumstances. I don't buy Fast Passes either, again I only will in a special circumstance.

 

Here are my biggest factors...

 

1) Is this a ride I will enjoy, or can I get more rides in on something I will enjoy more? (Example, 1 ride on MF, compared to 3-4 on Magnum).

 

2) Is the ride new, if so, when will I get to the park again? (Example, skipped Laff Trakk, will hit next visit)

 

3) Is the ride consistent, or is there a chance it will break down? (A reason why I'll never wait 2 hours for Dragster)

 

4) Depending on the park and length of visit (I'll skip a ride if I'm pressed for time and want to hit as many as possible)

 

5) If I arrive to a ride that is down for maintenance, what is the issue? I used to work in maintenance and know an estimated time it will take to fix.

 

The longest line I've recently waited in was 90 minutes for Rougarou, and I'll never do that again. I just really wanted to see how it compared to Mantis.

My most recent longest line I have ever walked through, was my recent visit to Walibi Holland (Sept.12)

and the queue for the Rock'n'Roller clone, X-Press. I could not believe how on and on and on the indoor queue went.

Every turn produced another block of tunnel to walk through. A very daunting queue (to me) to be sure. Thankfully,

we all hit it first thing after the park opened, but I imagined (while walking through it) how depressing it could be for

a full queue to move through. Very. Slowly.

It looks nice and wide open at the stairs' entrance to it. But after that left turn, at the top..... eep.

40 minutes for Superman Ultimate Flight, I am spoiled lol. When I go to a park with my family my dad has a bad leg so he gets the handicapped pass so we never have to wait in line. When I go with friends it always seems to rain which clears out the park and makes the lines short.
