Jccoasterfan Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 ^ Me and the family already discussed making a day trip on a weekday sometime after the coaster opens. I'm still guessing towards a mid-may opening. I have finals next week and going on a cruise in a couple of weeks from now. We really don't care if the coaster opens during that time, as long as we can find a day to attend the park afterwards, we're all good. At least our next "planned" trip will likely be sometime in July, usually two to three days.
bachir Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 SFO, thanks for posting the great video. All, Taking the family to Dollywood in late May (first time). Will we be fighting crowds if we hit the park during the week? IF we are fighting crowds, any advice on the best route to take when entering the park? We plan on arriving right when it opens. Trying to figure out if investing in a Timesaver Pass is worth it or if its not needed since we are avoiding the weekend.

kickflipbacktail Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Holy hell in just a few days its gotten so much faster! IMAGINE OPENING DAY WITH A FULL TRAIN WHEN ITS EVEN MORE BROKEN IN!! I'm now REALLY excited. This is a good sign!!
SFOG1991 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 ^I agree! This thing is hauling now! I'm so anxious to ride!
KBrylczyk Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Any chance you've got those videos in a format that doesn't hate life?
SFOG1991 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Any chance you've got those videos in a format that doesn't hate life? Preach I got it to play but it is sideways and that just drives me crazy. I'll take it over nothing though!
shadox17 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Any chance you've got those videos in a format that doesn't hate life? Yeah, I only have chrome at work, so I can't see them right now
mjollner Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 As much as I wanna see, I'd rather wait for YouTube than download additional codecs or players. Cheers for sharing tho.
Dollywoodlover20 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 The video made my phone glitch and shut down a few times but from what I seen of the launch its even faster just like I wanted it to be and the fact that it had workers in the cars near the back says that opening is near.
Shavethewhales Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Wow, fixed before the end of April. I was prepared for this to go into summer. Really wasn't a big deal at all. I just wish they could have moved the media day. The launch looks really good!
PhantomNick Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Any chance you've got those videos in a format that doesn't hate life? Yeah, the sideways format was a little annoying, but as mentioned above, any video of some solid testing is good stuff! And I must say - Holy crap was that thing HAULING!! I can't even begin to fathom what a ride on this awesome coaster will feel like.....okay, maybe I can fathom it.....probably will feel something like this: I have to say, Lightning Rod is gonna make one hell of a first RMC coaster (hopefully, provided it's open by our trip!) for me!!
kickflipbacktail Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Given the progress of testing anyone think they have an idea when we can expect an announcement? I know anything is gonna be pure speculation. I'm getting more excited to ride by the minute.
jimmiemac02 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 And through the wonders of Windows Movie Maker... My Movie.mp4 My Movie2.mp4
CoasterDirected Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Can someone please convert it to a format that all people can actually watch?
kickflipbacktail Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 They've added the rear of the hot rods since my video as well. I kinda prefer the way it looked without it but that's just me.
prozach626 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 With all this testing going on I wouldn't imagine it would be long, now. We were planning on taking a cheap trip to WOF May 11, but now I'm rethinking that.
coasterbill Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 The only thing better than an embedded Quicktime video in 2016 is a vertical embedded Quicktime video in 2016.
Wily J Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 The only thing better than an embedded Quicktime video in 2016 is a vertical embedded Quicktime video in 2016. Further proof it doesn't actually exist.
coasterbill Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 The video works it's just so crappy I didn't watch much of it.
boldikus Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) From that clip of it coming out of the quad down (that is what we're calling it, right?) it looks phenomenal. Wish we could see how much it hauls through the whole back of the course. I really, really, really, really, really want to go to Dollywood, why does it have to be in the middle of nowhere? coasterbill Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 From that clip of it coming out of the quad down (that is what we're calling it, right?) Of course not, that would be ridiculous. We're calling it a "Twist and Shout".
Nrthwnd Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I like to call it the "3D ~ DDD ~ Double Double Down". It's a coffee thing with me.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I really, really, really, really, really want to go to Dollywood, why does it have to be in the middle of nowhere? Quoted for truth. The crazy thing is, even though I'm just in the next state over, it's almost exactly the same distance from me as it is from you.

Not sure how anyone could make a statement that Dollywood is in the middle of nowhere. It is in the smack dab middle of the one the bigger tourist traps and one of the top 2 (most years it is #1) visited national parks in the country. Edited April 29, 2016 by ernierocker
