BDG Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 (edited) Hulk's cobra roll is now almost gone... A close-up of the footers... As you can see, they're simply using a cutting torch to remove the supports. photos: twitter.com/bioreconstruct Edited October 28, 2015 by BDG
Mrlittle Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 This ride sounds like Soarin over NYC. Come on Universal Orlando, I had you so high on my pedestal. Enough of the 3D rides. I hope I'm wrong here and out of Kong, fast n furious or Jimmy we get one decent ride. I'm just not going to book a vacation to see more 3D screens. Besides, Universal had a great ride with Jimmy they advertised all last summer. Gyrosphere
Brent York Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I liked Twister. Tornadoes will never stop being interesting and terrifying, so I always hoped they would just update Twister with newer technology.
shadox17 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Hulk's cobra roll is now almost gone... I really hope they're not reprofiling anything major...
Hilltopper39 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 The Fallon ride is interesting, for some reason I wouldn't be surprised if this thing turns out to be more fun than people think it will be. With no real details about the ride system all we can do at this point is speculate but wasn't there something a few years back at IAAPA that was essentially a stand up simulator? Where you stood on a platform that was on a motion base system of some sort? Looked like a cool concept at least, not sure how it would translate to this project but we'll see. Also, depending on what the actual ride is like, it seems like with the technology that exists these days that they could constantly update whatever the pre-show experience is with fresh new content from Fallon to keep it interesting. Anyways, Twister was a cool attraction but, like Disaster, I honestly haven't been on it in years so hopefully whatever this Fallon project is will be fun replacement.
DBJ Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 It is pretty impressive that Universal is on quite a roll with improving the parks. Glad to see they really haven't put on the brakes when it comes to improving the parks there in FL.
pianojohn Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 (edited) Had to take a quick trip out to USF/IOA to document Twister before she leaves us. Also got some shots of Skull Island and what's left of the Hulk. And here is a video of Twister's finale room [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Enjoy! Oh...and since it's almost Halloween, feel free to download my musical: Halloween: The Musical Just $4.99 download http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/johnbdehaas BOO! No more Twister merch. Just HHN stuff. Yum 1st time doing the Raptor meet and greet! Oct 28th means Christmas trees up! The queue line is stripped of decor on the outside Edited October 29, 2015 by pianojohn
viking86 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Great pictures! With all the focus on the Hulk refurb, I had completely forgotten about the King Kong ride. The Twister ride I don't consider not a big loss, although doing the control room was quite fun. As for it's replacement I'll withold my judgement until we know some more details. Will be interesting to see if it will be "just another simulator" or if it will provide a more unique experience...
JordyC Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 It seems like the exterior of the station is about to be renovated as well. This coaster will look very different when it reopens.
cfc Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Twister's Cow on a String will be missed; it's Universal's version of Disney's Bird on a Stick.
disneyfan1313 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 So all this construction is really going to make HHN interesting next year. Fast and Furious will be in full swing which will probably take the Disaster queue out of the mix and the Twister construction will take away a house entrance and a large portion of their queue for one of the Sound Stage houses. Throw in the fact that Feifel's play area has got to be on the chopping block soon and you have issues getting to the Parade Building house as well. Should be interesting!
Hilltopper39 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Construction zone, scare zone, same thing right?
Meteornotes Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Should have been a Sharknado ride. I was jut coming here to post this. People would have gone nuts over a Sharknado ride. You failed, Universal. dt

Bring back the two-park event. I know a few people didn't like it but they're stupid.
BlahBlahson Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 This Jimmy Fallon ride actually sounds more fun than Fast and Furious (at least the ultra-fake looking Hollywood version). But seriously Comcast, you have got to stop with 3D. After these additions, MOST major attractions in the parks will be 3D simulators, it's not a good mix.

Interesting, indeed--maybe even hellish. They may have no choice but to go with the "two-park" option.
oriolat Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Twister's Cow on a String will be missed; it's Universal's version of Disney's Bird on a Stick. It was certainly the highlight of the attraction. Let's roll a campaign "Save Twister's Cow on a String"
coasterfreak101 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Should have been a Sharknado ride. I was jut coming here to post this. People would have gone nuts over a Sharknado ride. You failed, Universal. Not even joking, with some upgrades and new scenery this seems like it would've been a no-brainer. People love Sharknado way more than Jimmy Fallon, or at least I hope they do.
TheCoasterKid211 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I like the idea of a Jimmy Fallon ride. Here's to a quick and non-annoying preshow.
A.J. Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Who is Jimmy Fallon? I'll assume you're serious, considering you're not from the US. Jimmy Fallon is a late-night talk show host that does nightly shows on the NBC television network, which is under the same corporate umbrella as Universal.
coasterkid124 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I'm not big into the projected simulator rides, and I was a big fan of Twister. But with the movie itself now getting a lot older, and from what I heard lower ridership, it was only a matter of time before Twister was replaced. Also, all those special effects are expensive to create and maintain, whereas projectors and simple vehicles aren't. But it's not like Universal has a huge building that hasn't been used in years or anything. *cough Nick Studios cough*
KBrylczyk Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 ^ Um, Blue Man Group has been in Nick Studios for close to a decade now.
coasterkid124 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 But it's not taking up the entire building right? Maybe I'm missing something but I thought that the majority of the building is still vacant.
