WayCool64
1995 1. Jaguar - KBF (One of my favorites) 2. Space Mountain - DLP (Even though I never rode it yet, it looks to be a well-crafted successor to the original in the US. And I like the original version of the ride more than Mission: 2) 3. Dragon Khan - PortAventura (another ride that looks impressive yet never rode yet)
p-sychiatrist
19941. Raptor (CP) 2. Nemesis 3. BTR (SFMM) All B&M invert coasters These are my top 3 as well. I haven't been on Nemesis yet so I can't rank it but it looks better than Raptor to me (mostly from the theming)
eddie200330
I may only be 42, but going back through this thread I feel really old when I think of the rides I have already ridden when the majority of the posters were born....LOL
Nrthwnd
Holy crap! I thought that the coaster at Hanayashiki Park in Tokyo was the only coaster I had, as well as the park itself opening in my birth year, 1953. And I had the good fortune to ride it a number of times, thanks to past TPR Japan tours. But I rechecked (Thankyou RCDB), and lo and behold...I got three!!! Flyer (Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto - now closed) Little Dipper (Kiddytown. Illinois - now closed) Roller Coaster (Hayanashiki, Tokyo - still running!) (There were actually only four, and the 4th coaster listed, was an "unkown" in... Guatemala!)

ytterbiumanalyst
Little Dipper (Kiddytown. Illinois - now closed) Not as closed as you might think. It was relocated to Little Amerricka in Wisconsin. I rode it last summer, and it was incredible. Not just the ride itself, which was fun enough--but the operations, the atmosphere, the whole package combined to make it the absolute most fun I've ever had on a roller coaster. So there you go. Two are still running.

powpig
Ha! According to RCDB, only 3 new coasters were opened in 1963 and only 1 is still operating. I've never ridden any of the 3.

gromithere
Apparently 1971 was not a stellar year for coasters. Best I can find that is still operating is Gold Rusher at Magic Mountain.

n1ch0las
I really didn't expect 1988 to be the oldest third of this board: Shockwave @ SFGAm takes the win out of the coasters opened that year, which honestly was a pretty sad year for coasters that still operate today! I suppose an honorable mention can go to Wolverine Wildcat, and I wouldn't even pick a third place out of that bunch.
RollerManic
1999 Bizarro / Medusa @ SFGADv Joker's Jinx @ SFA Powderkeg @ SDC Honorable mentions to Dragon Challenge and Afterburner / Top Gun
Coaster19
1991 1) Phantom's Revenge (or better known as Steel Phantom) - Kennywood 2) The Ultimate - Lightwater Valley (it's so long!) 3) Bullet - Flamingo Land After looking at all 50, I would say that these were the top three from that year, in my own thoughts.
