I know that there was a rumour going around and an article about the new ride being a 'Robo-arm Coaster' like the ones found in RCT3. Although it sounds interesting, I just don't think that I will enjoy it that much, I mean, it's a robo-arm coaster! I just don't like the idea of it. Of course we will have to wait and see but I hope that they have something to rival the supposidly 'bigger and better' American beasts.

I think they're putting in those robo-arm coasters at the new Harry Potter land of IoA in Florida.

But I really don't think that's what it is - they made it quite clear it's a roller coaster, plus robo arm wouldn't be world first!

You don't like the idea of it? The concept is amazing! I have to wonder if Kuka teamed up with a certain coaster manufacturer to provide the track. Just a thought...

Universal has an exclusive agreement with Kuka, so I am guessing it's not a robocoaster. Unless it is a rip off version.

 

BTW, the track from that photo is from the same company that did the Space Mountain redo. Not the "certain company" you're dreaming of.

hmmmm... I'm not sure what it will be... I don't even have a guess, and the only B&M that I had as a guess wouldn't work due to that height limit (hyper)... so I'm excited to see this!

^^ Ah yes, you're right. That slipped my mind, I remember hearing that Vekoma would provide the track for the robocoaster.

That was one page of a huge online survey Alton Towers did earlier on this year about the 2010 ride. It had a few different themes mentioned such as Dark Forest, Machines, Racers etc. and spoke quite a lot about Expedition Everest style coasters as well as robo arms. It was really interesting but doesn't really narrow much down!

 

It's really hard to find the original survey now because Alton Towers requested all the fan sites removed it.

I saw a video on youtube that said that the expansion would be a robocoaster... I know it wasnt official, but the 3D model they had there seemed to amke alot of sense for alton towers. I didnt know about the agreement between universal and Kuka, though...

i wish they would sell a few of the wheels or something, also. That's something i think i could actually buy! The only actual pieces of coasters i have as souvenirs are two metal buckle pieces and a plastic wheel cap from the Great Nor Easter at Morey's Pier. The wheel even has some Vekoma spoodge left on it!

Morey's pier had this event two year ago where they wanted enthusiasts advice on a new coaster they are still planning to build, and they had this thing where they gave people a tour of their facility where they rehab their trains during the winter. They had this table set up with pieces of the nor Easter they said we could take. Luckily i got to it before the group of twenty middle aged overweight ACE members saw it. They were busy harassing the morey's employees to let them climb up into the overhead storage area to see a a car from one of those miniature Philadelphia toboggan company family woodies. I'm not even joking.
