Electerik
They had to have done a pull through on MF. There's a support that they actually had to modify at the end of the 2nd hill that was too close to the track (in fact, one rider was famous for smacking it with his hand until they modified it), the track comes kinda close to some supports during the middle portions of the island, and there are the two tunnels to worry about clearance. Well, they did modify that support, yes. But, as you actually sort of implied there towards the end, NOT because of the pull-through. /Still not convince that the guy who claimed to have touched the support was legit. //Was there when it "happened." ///That CP took action on it really doesn't prove anything, if you know anything about the way they operate. ginzo
^There's a spot on Balder where more than one TPR member hit their hands due to clearance issues during ERT last year. Not saying I know anything about the issue with MF, but just pointing out another major Intamin coaster that still has this problem to this very day. downunder
I get the impression Scandanavia hasn't heard of clearance envelopes, watch out for that headchopper! Which gets to my point, are there safety regulations in some regions that require a pull through and clearance envelope tests to be passed as legally safe? DBru
If you think Drop Tower is an amazing name, then your just going to love Boo Blasters on Boo Hill. I literally just laughed out loud.

Of course "Boo Blasters" could have been a worked on a little better...
Loefet
^There's a spot on Balder where more than one TPR member hit their hands due to clearance issues during ERT last year. I did it on a normal day... By the way it's not a clearance issue, it's due to the rider "standing up" It will never happen with "normal" people that likes to have lap-bar snug, but some (like us) likes to have loads of space and Liseberg is nice enough to let us ride with it as well , which means that you practically stand up over the hills and thus hit's objects... I get the impression Scandanavia hasn't heard of clearance envelopes, watch out for that headchopper! Which gets to my point, are there safety regulations in some regions that require a pull through and clearance envelope tests to be passed as legally safe? Scandinavia isn't an issue (as I explained with Balder), go to South Korea and ride with your hands in the air and see how many (not if) times you hit stuff... I think that the manufacturers designs the clearance envelopes for each ride with the help of some standards of a human body So they would probably be the same all around the world. The pull through is just Intamins way of double test everything that have been simulated, to see if everything works the way it should. And I guess they might even do it for Legal/Insurance reasons as well...
downunder
^My comment about clearance envelopes in Scandanavia was mostly tongue in cheek but I did notice quite a few rides were cutting it fine with clearances.
Loefet
^ And in South Korea you can go on rides where the tunnel roof whizzes by inches from your head...
downunder
^That would be freaky especially since I'm 6'3", remind me to bring a helmet if I ever get to South Korea. Also I apologise if I was creating the impression that Scandanavian rides aren't safe - in fact they're awesome.
jarmor
...a helmet will probably raise the chances of getting decapitated! (which a helmet wont stop anyway nor will PMW lol...)
DOCTOR DOOM!!!
Keep your hands, arms and legs inside the ride at all times and they won't get hit rider!

KDcoasterMAN
Now that Kings Dominion has the second Giga in North America... ...what new attractions would be on your wish list? >Replace Hurler with a GCII woodie along the lines of Terminator: Salvation >Remove the Shockwave, Slime Zone, Showplace Theater, and Space Surfer and build a Zamperla Spinning coaster and new outdoor kids amplitheater. >Remove Avalanche a build Intaride Flume similar to Shoots the Rapids with better Congo theme >Remove the Go-Karts and build a Teacups ride themed to barrels like what Intamin offers. >build stage infront of the Hypersonic Haunt building. >Remove majority of the asphault and make a sitting area similar to Universal's new stage next to HRRR. Include a children's water playground >Build a Whirlpool slide and "nitro" racer slide in South WaterWorks >Make a second WW's entrance near Ricochet New coaster types I would like to see come to KD... >Intamin ZacSpin >Intamin Wing Rider Launch >GG Hybrid Mega Woodie

tanthonyam
Just noticed on the park's website they are NOT operating the week of Memorial day! I thought most parks in this chain are going to daily operations by then. They are open Monday, obviously then close until Friday. Seems strange. Busch is scheduled to be open that week. Maybe this will be updated (I hope) I was planning to visit first week of June before the crowds start.
pkdcoaster
They usually have a really hard time staffing the park that week (public school's around Richmond's last day is June 18th). Rather than open half the rides this year they just decided to stay closed. They have done this before in the past. JEFF
Coasterfusion
I think it's a smart move, because other parks on those days have the same problem as well as Fourth of July and Spring Break. We are going to see things like this change in order for the park to save money.
Bolliger&Mabillard
I agree hardily. I'd rather see the park not open until they have the numbers to properly run it.

Bolliger&Mabillard
^From my experience I've never had a problem with any park in early June. All the college kids who work at parks are out so the park is close to fully staffed, and all the schools are still in so no (or extremely little) high schoolers or day camps.
