P. 835: The Beast re-tracking effort announced!

Recommended Posts

He was in charge or CEO of Disney.

No, he never was. Michael Eisner was succeeded by Bob Iger as the CEO of Disney.

Ouimet was the president of the Disney Cruise Line, followed by President of Disneyland Resort. Before that he had done some other jobs for Disney, but in smaller capacities. He was the president of Disneyland during the 50th Anniversary, and is often credited for really sprucing up that park during that time.

After his stint in Disney, which lasted about 17 years, he left for Starwood, where he was the president of the hotel part of the company. (I don't even know what else there is with Starwood, I work with Starwood though so I had jokingly asked to meet him to talk about adding rides to some of their hotels.) He left that job for some college thing.

After all that, he went to Cedar Fair.

I think he's an extremely competent park man, but I wouldn't expect to see a lot of new theming out of him at the parks. Cedar Point has gotten as big as they are with essentially no theming whatsoever, and I think that Ouimet fully understands the client base of the thrill parks is different than that of the Disney parks.

Having said that, I have a decent chunk of change worth of Cedar Fair stock, and I was ecstatic when he was named CEO. He was well known for being out and in the park talking to visitors on a regular basis during his days at Disney to see how he could improve, and that more than anything else I think should lead you to what to do. He still does this at the Cedar Fair parks, too. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that he has actual park operational knowledge, and wasn't just some big wig that came from some other big business and is now running a theme park company.

Maybe the bottom part of the station is for the on-ride photo booth.

Even though I like the look of the station I thought the colors would be just a tad darker.

Totally agree with you. I think the outside of the station looks to "modern" and lively for the theme.

It's possible some artificial weathering/darkening could be sprayed on after construction is finished.

Maybe there is a break room under the station, like Wild Eagle.

It has been stated several times by KI PR that the gift shop and photos will be beneath the station.

I don't want to link that "OTHER" group here. I do know people on here that are there who can attest to this.

I don't if it was mentioned before, but:

Awesome! Ironically that is one of the things I thought of when I saw this in the 2013 results press release:

Cost of goods sold decreased to $91.8 million due to savings initiatives in the Company's food and beverage programs,

From my knowledge of the food service industry, you can usually significantly reduce food costs by buying fresh food and not processed/frozen food. I was hoping from that line in the report that CF is going in that direction and the KI tweet seems to confirm that. Since all the CF parks tend to have some of the worst food as a whole (in our opinion), this is great news and hopefully we'll continue to see more of this trend. I don't mind paying the high cost for amusement park food if it's going to be quality food.

^^ Banshee doesn't seem to take up as much space as the old SOB. The possibility of another coaster in that area is looking more and more possible.

It's not finished in that photograph.

Yes, however, if you look at where the future track will be, the footers, and also the webcam, there will surely be enough space for a new coaster!
