A part of me hopes that they build some type of wicked new RMC crazy hybrid thing or a GCI wooden twister and find a way to keep the "beast" franchise alive. Steel beast 3000!

Zombie Son of Beast... From the Future I am curious to see what they do with this new space. The action zone really needs something. Personally im hoping for a B&M Giga Coaster.

I was able ro get a large bolt from the coaster. Not sure what part of the coaster it's from, but really cool none the less. I will post a picture of it soon.

I think a larger blitz coaster like mavvie would be great, and with it's not incredibly large footprint it would leave room for future expansion as well. I really hope we don't see another B&M, this park desperately needs something that people think is crazy.

Pretty neat story about the men who used to inspect the ride every morning. Also some amazing photos.

Well, right there in the picture is why the ride was so rough. All those bolts sticking up on the track. I still don't get how RMC can make their rides so smooth with all the bolts sticking up.

SOB was truly amazing visually. It was unbelievably huge. The next largest wooden coaster after it is Colossos at Heide Park, but even that doesn't seem as huge since it uses less wooden supports. SOB's supports created this enormous mass of wood.

It really is a shame it was such a terrible ride to actually ride.

What a find! Even though I really disliked the ride, it was a very impressive structure.

Ive never gotten to ride Son of Beast, but its always fascinated me. I believe part of that comes from the history this ride developed. The other possible explanation was how beautiful the structure was. Due to all of the wood that was used it seemed much larger then it was. I remember I was seriously intimidated the first time I saw Kings Island from the parking lot and saw SOB. I understand that it wasnt a great ride, but I regret not getting to experience it for myself. I will also miss how it changed the skyline.

 

I find it weird that a lot of really uninteresting coasters are some of the most aesthetically pleasing. Son of Beast was probably my favorite to look at, but after that was probably Mean Streak. Ive ridden that enough times to realize its not a fun ride, but its still beautiful.
