GateKeeper has the most efficient crew Ive ever seen on a ride. My train was 15 feet from from the crest of the lift yesterday when the previous train rolled through the mid-course. It only had two seconds of full speed lift. They were telling people to run off the train to the exit. Quite a change from witnessing Six Flags America's 21 minute Superman dispatch a few days prior.

I'm guessing the 21 minute dispatches were with VR?? Even so that's godawful, I know DDD has had horrendous dispatches with VR but I don't think they've been close to 21 minutes.

^It's SFA and it's VR. What else would you expect?

(yes, 21 minute dispatches are completely awful and it's terrible that anyone has to deal with it.)

As for good operations I'm going to play the "underrated" card on Six Flags Over Texas. I was scared of 5-10 minute dispatches from what people had sai, but the longest dispatch we dealt with was somewere between 90 seconds and 2 minutes. The park definitely isn't perfect but the operations are nowhere near as bad as people say.

Oh, I forgot about VR. But still, that's totally unacceptable, even with VR.

Really hoping that VR gets turned off the major attractions at parks.

I've never been to SFA but considering what I've heard about their attendance, VR should be a snaz at this park.

Did KI significantly improve this year? Outside of Banshee last year, they were all pretty bad. I miss the days of one train entering the splash down on Diamondback as the train behind it heads down the first drop.

Fury 325 was amazing a few weeks ago. There were several times we were dispatched before the previous train had even cleared the lift!

Great park operations?? My votes go to:

- Silver Dollar City

- Basically all Disney Parks

- Universal Orlando

- Busch Gardens Williamsburg

- Cedar Point

They were doing really well at all the busy rides, doing a countdown and taking loose articles instead of letting guests put them away which made operations (especially at Diamondback) incredible and even cooler to watch.

Holiday World still has some of the best operations I've seen in any park. Even when Raven and Legend went to one train operations, the ops were very fast and efficient when it came to dispatches.

At the Adventuredome about two weeks ago, the ride crews for the two coasters (El Loco and Canyon Blaster) were operating very efficiently. They almost always dispatched trains in a minute or less unless a guest was causing a holdup.

I hereby re-hijack this thread in the name of Knoebels. Praise be.

Silver Dollar City by far gets my vote for Great Park Operations.

It's not just the ride operations that impress me... But all of the staff in the park in general. From the tram drivers, to the front gate employees, to the food and beverage employees, to the ride operators. You can tell that they all LOVE their jobs, and it really makes for a great visit to the park. Most of the park employees know us by name, and it makes for a really great visit. I love getting to see the same employees year after year after year too!

So, yeah. SDC it is!

This is sort of Park Related. It happened at Tokyo Disney Resort. In 2011, on the then TPR Japan Tour.

TPR usually put TDLR at the end of a Japan Tour. Really, it was/is the best way to end a tour, lol. For this

one, I had purchased an overseas ticket to the in-house Cirque show ZED, that had been open

for only just over one year. It started as a show with an Intermission, but the gp would generally walk out,

thinking the show was over, and not realizing what an "Intermission" was. Go figure. So they took it out,

and streamlined the show to (what I saw) was a near two hours in one shot.

Then, a few months later, the announcement was made thew whole thing was closing up, permanently.

But, backing up to 2011, when I was in queue to pick up my ticket, I had a few cast members suddenly around me,

politely wanting to know what my pickup number was, etc. Then, I was escorted to the entry way of the

gift store, and immediately, handed my ticket, and literally having my own concierge up to sitting in my seat,

before the show started! It was surreal and cool to realize what was going on etc. I was one of the very few

non-Japanese who were there for Disney. They knew it, and they appreciated it, that I was there. It was

charming and a bit of a scare, all at the same time, LOL!

They went over and beyond to make my show visit a memorable one. And it was!

Nowadays, the Cirque show building sits empty, except for the D23 EXPOs. TPR 2013 Japan Tour.

The operations I experienced at Cedar Point last week were very efficient all around, though the GateKeeper crew was particularly fast. They were checking restraints as fast as possible, and they normally dispatched the train in the station before the train on the course reached the keyholes.

The crew at Gate Keeper at Cedar Point did a great job last month when I was at the park. I was at the park for 3+ days and rode Gate Keeper 12 times and the operations were incredibly fast each time. They were so much faster than when I rode X-Flight at SFGA and Thunderbird at Holiday World. Millennium Force's crew deserves some credit as well. Rode that 15 times and they were pretty fast as well.

General question . . .

What's the QUICKEST you all have seen a coaster dispatch (from time people load an empty train until the ride op gives the all clear)?

Posted

Knoebels. The way they crank out trains on Phoenix and Twister with only one train running is a marvel that has to be seen to be believed.

Knoebels ops routinely send Phoenix trains in 25-30 seconds and make it look effortless (from the time it parks to the time it starts moving).
