robbalvey Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 ^ Just wait for the TPR Scandinavia trip in 2009! --Robb
okinawaboy11 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hmm... Very Nice! I wonder what kinda of restraints it's going to have.
Gav Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 ^A lot of coasters have lines of harder wearing paint put on the rails where the wheels will be running. I guess this paint only comes in white.
CoasterEricHP Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I remember reading on Dorney Parks website that the strip of paint where the wheels touch is a smooth surface.. the rest of the track is kind of grainy and it would be a rougher ride if the wheels ran directly on that.
downunder Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 This definitely looks like a great little intense coaster, airtime, airtime, airtime. Good to see intamin building these kind of coasters again even if they are not in the 200ft plus range. This would be a great addition to lots of parks in the US, though at $14m USD (based on the Tobu Zoo one's price) they might be a bit pricey for smaller parks in the US.
Behemoth230 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hmm... Very Nice! I wonder what kinda of restraints it's going to have. I have a feeling it will have the same U-bars that El Toro has. The OTSR is another possibility though
ginzo Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hmm... Very Nice! I wonder what kinda of restraints it's going to have. I have a feeling it will have the same U-bars that El Toro has. The OTSR is another possibility though OTSR on hyper coaster = Fail
FLIPDUDE Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Don't worry folks, this coaster isn't a rocket coaster, it isn't looping, and it focuses on airtime. Intamin know better than to put OSTRs on an airtime coaster ... Right? Tomi "I wonder if Robb is just pulling destination trips out of mid-air and claiming they're going there in 2009" Zandshtein.
KrakenKing Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Tomi "I wonder if Robb is just pulling destination trips out of mid-air and claiming they're going there in 2009" Zandshtein. Nope, Scandinavia is an 09 trip. He mentioned it on the Midwest Trip, remember? Lol... or maybe that was only to our bus
FLIPDUDE Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 ^I remember him saying some destinations but I don't remember which ones they were. Though I also saw him say "Dubai 2009" on another thread so it got me wondering.

CoasterWarriors Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 WOW! That's just wicked! I'm looking forward to that! I might be able to make it to the Scandinavian TPR 2009 trip depending on the job and so forth. I want to go to Bon Bon Land and ride on Dog Fart Coaster... and sadly get farted on. But that look just wicked! It look smooth like the baby back! Ahhh airtime!
AlmereStars Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 steffen, where do you live? I'm gonna need some cheap room to sleep next year (just kidding) really cool coaster!
Steffen_Dk Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 steffen, where do you live? I'm gonna need some cheap room to sleep next year (just kidding) really cool coaster! Hehe... In fact I only live 35km from Djurs Sommerland so I'll probably be living out there this summer... And to them who are concerned about the restraints.. Relax - the stats say: Hoftesele og hoftebøjle which means lap bars
Adrenaline_Rush Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 MMMM sexy curves! this ride looks like it gives good airtime! It looks fun. I seldom think this about coasters, but damn those curve do look sexy I was thinking the exact same thing!
Themeparkceo Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 ^ Completely agree! I would love to go through those curves at high speeds. It looks very smooth and fast. Reminds me of Maverick at Cedar Point.
Steffen_Dk Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Yesterday one of my friends was driving by Djurs Sommerland. The result was those pics of the now finished track. The only thing remaining of the construction is now the theming, which will be really good (I'm quite sure about that). The pics are sadly a bit foggy caused by the bad weather Evil eagle and coaster track Btw. Djurs Sommerland is expanding pretty much this year... And then I have a short film clip (in Danish) of the topping-out ceremony... http://www.tv2regionerne.dk/reg2005/player.aspx?id=404508&r=7
CHILLERLC1 Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Could you guys see this as a wooden coaster design pulling off the same degree of transitions? Would you see it the same way if it was a wooden coaster design?
jamjar Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Is it me, or does it look like its going to have a cable lift?
Acero Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 I think Intamin has abondoned the traditional lift system in favour of cable lift hills. All (small and large) hypers since Millennium Force get the cable lift, like Goliath at SFH.
knowit Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Intamin hasn't abandoned the traditional lift. They give their customers what they want. The new coaster at hershey is going to have a chain lift, albeit not traditional at 90 degrees, but a chain none the less
