cwgator Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 *UPDATE* The new best under 75' for me would be White Lightning @ Fun Spot America.
Canobie Coaster Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I can attest to Wooden Warrior's awesomeness. That is why I'm so excited for Story Land's new coaster.

The Angry Darren Mullins Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Perhaps I should nominate Wood Coaster at Knight Valley for this honor. The drop is greater than 75 feet, but the ride is never that far off the ground due to the terrain.

A great coaster, but goes against the intent of the original poster, or people would be throwing Boulder Dash out there also.
azza29 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Wooden Warrior for me, too. Honorable mention to Comet at Waldameer.
VinTheAttendant Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Two years ago, my answer was Wooden Warrior. And while I still love that coaster, my vote now goes to Coaster at P.N.E. Playland. That ride is just brutal, relentless fun from start to finish. Definitely one of the wildest rides I've ever had on a coaster its size.
The Angry Darren Mullins Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 If I have to go based on the original poster, then I would say Rollo Coaster at Idlewild. With that being said, most coasters are more than 75 feet tall due to the elevation of the land. The woodies in Denver are more than a mile tall.
bkwjjm Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I would have say the Yankee Cannoball at Canobie. The airtime during the last 20 seconds is incomparable!
medoman Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 got to go with blackpool's wild mouse, it just feels insanely unsafe and intense
coasterbill Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I love Wooden Warrior but I give the slight nod to the Thunderbolt at Six Flags New England. I've ridden it at least 50 times over the last decade plus and it always delivers a fun, smooth ride in every seat. It's a great little coaster.
cfc Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Yankee Cannonball and Blackpool's Wild Mouse are both excellent choices.
no_brain_er Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Of the few smaller woodies I've been on, I'm gonna go with Swamp Fox at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach, SC. It's got just the right amount of roughness (not smooth, but doesn't beat you up), plus a few really good pops of airtime towards the end. Also, it's a John C. Allen original, so there's some good history behind it as well. Not to mention, the view of the ocean and Ocean Blvd right before the first drop is perfect.
Canobie Coaster Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I would have say the Yankee Cannoball at Canobie. The airtime during the last 20 seconds is incomparable! I usually find the final leg lacking on the air-time, but the first two third of the ride has some outstanding air-time and I love that first drop in the back.
Aceattack52 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 ^ White Lightning is good, but so is Woodstock Express at Carowinds. There just aren't that many of those small PTC woodies left.
yay101 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I would have said Cedar Point's Blue Streak, but it's 78 feet tall! THREE FEET TOO MUCH!! With that said, my favorite woodie under 75 feet tall is Kennywood's Thunderbolt. I really like the layout, and I still think it's clever to add on to an old coaster and make it great. Plus all the drops down the cliffs provide great airtime! I also have to mention Cornball Express because that coaster is better than most woodies double it size, and it's only 55 feet tall!
Vtafro Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Thunderbolt may meet the height requirement, seems to be cheating a little bit with a drop of nearly 100 feet, compared to Blue Streak's drop of < 75 feet. My pick would be phoenix if we could pick drops of less than 75 feet, however since that would be cheating, ill go with jack rabbit(Height:40 ft,Drop:70 ft) also from kennywood. I find it interesting cyclops also fits in this category(Height:70 ft,Drop:75 ft) and both cyclops and jack rabbit have OMFG airtime moments.
traincrossin Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I'm going with Wooden Warrior as well. For a ride that small, it's so much better than half the other coasters out there. Honorable mention to Cannonball Express. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't think Yankee Cannonball was that great when I rode it. Was I in the wrong seat or something?
beatle11 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 If Phoenix with the 72 foot drop counts, then there is no competition.
