I've posted this video a few times but I want to get it out to the world so everyone can see it. Any comments about it are helpful too.

 

As I said before, that video is really it looks really professional but I think it could use some longer shots and maybe some more shots of things besides rides like maybe some food or some great scenery.

LOL Roogaroo? Anyone else think that's one of the more goofy names CF has ever come out with? I know its not spelled that way, but that's how I say it when I pronounce it. LOL really? That's the best they got?

 

Someone mentioned attendance being significantly lower than expectations in 2014...is this common for the park to have an attendance "off" year every so often? Or could it be that Gatekeeper wasn't a big enough deal to the GP to bring people back during its second year? Yes I know it was the 3rd most popular ride once guests got in the park, but that doesn't mean it was bringing people into the park from hundreds of miles away.

 

Which if that's the case, who's to say a dive machine would keep people coming back after it loses its luster for its second season of operation? While I agree a dive coaster would be great, I think maybe it should have been done in place of Gatekeeper. I also think the park needs to stop with the mediocre B&M hard on its having, and start making more memorable rides like TTD and Maverick, with something like a RMC re-do of Mean Streak.

 

But let's face it, CP has quite a collection of coasters, so really, they're starting to run out of options!

You have to remember that they had a rough year with things that were not really in their control. They lost an entire weekend to the water main break which is not an insignificant amount of people. Wasn't there a power outage (or something) that forced the park to close early/not open another Saturday as well?

I actually have been wanting a new flat in the park. They don't have many thrilling flats. They have the Sky Hawk, MaxAir, and witches wheel. It would be nice to see an inverting flat like an Air Race or maybe something rarer like a Loop fighter or a star-shape.

One easy way they can turn an already great flat into an amazing one: speed up Cedar Downs. The other one at Rye Playland is so much faster than Cedar Point's. If the horses still "raced" on theirs, it would blow Cedar Point's away.

Not to interrupt the conversation but I've been thinking about this.

 

Now, I'm sure they wouldn't do this anytime in the next decade, but once the park completely runs out of room, would it be possible for the parking lot to be relocated off the peninsula and then have shuttle buses bring guests to the park? With the new entrance plaza I know this won't happen for a long long long time, I just thought it was an interesting idea. Is there an area right next to the road the leads to the peninsula that could hold a parking lot/garage or not?

^sounds like a logistical nightmare. Granted, Magic Kingdom shuttles people to their park BUT they do so with a high-capacity monorail, ferry, and that doesn't include the resort buses and boats. Little shuttles shuffling along the Causeway would be a huge pain for thousands of people every day.

There's been a rumor of this exact thing floating around for several years now. There are a few places they could build a parking garage, but I'd be surprised to see it happen.

Not only logistics, but I have to wonder what the extra cost would be.... I would think that in addition to the cars/busses/trains you would need, it would need an extra 4-5 hours of staffing outside of your normal operating hours per day... And not to mention the general stupidity of the general public that would have to be delt with... Also have to wonder how a system like this would work if you have weather involved (Storm moves in on an otherwise full Saturday... Instead of everyone going to their cars at once, they need to use the shuttle)...

Um...the park is on a peninsula. Pretty much all of it is full.

Have you ever actually been to Cedar Point?? The park is running out of room faster than I think any of us would like to admit. Yes the park is huge, but so are a lot of their coasters... Large coasters (for the most part) take up a large amount of room. I don't think there is as much room in the park as you think. Also, where are they going to expand... There is huge thing surrounding the park called "Lake Erie." I don't think the park can exactly move that.

Looks pretty full to me.

As far as Cedar Point is concerned, there's definitely still some room to work with, but it may take some careful and creative planning to maximize their space. Gröna Lund is an extreme example of piling rides, but illustrates the point that you can twist track to fit just about anywhere, as long as you know how to do it.

Cedar Point is the only park that could have a proposed 223 foot tall dive coaster that drops into a tunnel at 80 MPH, has FOUR inversions, and over 3600 feet of track be a disappointing addition.

 

I'm excited for it. People seem to like Shiekra and Griffon enough. This coaster should be substantially better than either of those.
