We ended up really enjoying ourselves, but I just couldn't help but to leave with the impression that this park had too much going on.

Good trip report! I think this sums up Cedar Point perfectly. Glad you had fun!

To be fair, Yeungling gets higher props than it probably should since it's not available here in the Midwest... The grass being greener on the other side of the fence so to speak... I was that way for a while and know a lot of people who follow suit...

Yeungling has sort of blown up now outside of the PA area but growing up in Philly it was always around. Its been the "cheap beer" around here forever and there were definitely a few years in my late teens/early 20s when all I drank was Yeungling because of that. We'd get 40oz of it at the Chinese place I lived near that never carded us. Over time the taste has just started to sour on me, I really think it tastes like poo. Like its always skunked or something. Ugh. That's cool that yall love it, I get that its a thing for people not from around here, but I avoid it like the plague. It even smells bad.

 

Want good Pennsylvania beer? Try PBC (Philadelphia Brewing Company - I'm partial to the Walt Whit but the Kenzinger is a good go-to, as is the Rowhouse Red) or Yards. They're both made right in my neighborhood and they're both awesome. Miles better than Yeungling.

^ I agree that Yuengling lager has some type of funky smell and aftertaste that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it's the PA (fracking) water they use?

 

As mentioned in another thread, the brewery tour is really cool and there was a beer that we tried in the sampling room that was actually pretty good. But apparently they only sell it in that county or something like that, which seems strange given the way their popularity has skyrocketed in the past ten or so years.

 

I'll have to try out PBC - I have never heard of it despite the fact that I have beer loving relatives in Allentown!

I can see why people don't like Yuenlging, but I love it. It would probably be less desirable for me if it weren't so exclusive, although I think I'd still drink it semi regularly. But being that we always go east at least a couple times per year, it now instantly reminds me of traveling/road tripping, which makes me like it even more. In that way, it's kind of special for us.

So the wonderful people over at IOE, the people who most notably supply controls for the RMC rides (of course I also believe they do work for GCI as well, so it could just be the KI woodie) just posted this on their Facebook page:

 

We just got absolutely incredible news that our bid for a large Cedar Fair project was accepted and we are CELEBRATING BIG TIME at the park tonight about it! Details when I can give them.It is so amazingly wonderful to be able to work with the park chain that started it all for me.

Considering they were at CP, I would say it is for CP. But it could be just that they were at the Cedar Fair HQ... Only time will tell.

The comments on the post ask about Cedar Point and the poster says she can't say which park, but it is not Cedar Point.

^^They also confirmed it is a retrofit of an existing ride. Most likely Hurler at Kings Dominon. The ride is SBNO and the park announced it would be getting a retrofit before reopening next year.

Hopefully this is a start for Cedar Fair working with RMC. Some of the chain's woodies don't really need it (like GhostRider), but those with weak layouts to begin with (Mean Streak, the Hurlers, maybe the Grizzlys) could absolutely benefit from it. Hopefully 2017 is the year!
