Erik!! You forgot the best part: the water park didn't sell or rent towels. It was just, "Good luck, travelers." I also bought the best generic shirt here. It just says Water World at the bottom. Am I a fan of the movie? Did I go to an aquarium? Does the water park have sharks? So many questions....5 points

Took a little afternoon trip last week. Overall it was fine, but there was just a buildup of small wacky stuff Surprisingly cold for August and it drizzled on and off until about 1pm. But it was a nice break from the usual heat. Several rides were not using their indoor queues (i'm guessing covid safety?) I noticed Superman, Lex, Apocalypse, and WCR (not Batman for some reason). Superman, Apocalypse, and WCR were holding guests outside and then letting one train worth of people into the building at a time. Lex was using the FlashPass side entrance (but didn't have a sign or anything, just shut the front door making a bunch of us think the ride was closed). Goliath parked short in the station when we returned and we couldn't get out for a couple minutes. But the crew had NO CLUE what to do. I was listening to the gal at the panel call it in to the office and the way she described it sounded like they didn't even know what to call this situation. So that was not super confidence inspiring because I knew exactly what the deal was from back in my Ride Op days. Batman had a sign out front saying it was running1 train. But I got to the station and they were running two. But then they unloaded one train and sent it for one cycle with just a single employee riding, and then empty for a second cycle. And then put it back in service immediately after that. I'm not sure if it was a training thing or what, but it was odd. Scream was riding pretty well. Slight rattle still, but much better than I've seen it before. Still a parking lot coaster, but I'm still glad that we have it. The side wheels need some love though, because that turn out of the station is creaky and LOUD. And the final moment of wacky... while in the pre-loading area of the Lex Luther queue, I noticed that the Operator at the panel on one side was getting her hair braided by another employee. Like... while she was working the ride. At the risk of sounding like a Six Flags hater... i would like to point out that their revamped entrance security screening is incredible and I'm completely in love with it. So quick, so easy. 10/10.2 points

just got Biopsy results. NEGATIVE for Malignancy/cancer. oh, there's still what looks to be an infection in his vertebrae. . but that's treatable! (Bone Cancer is not). Holy fuck. .this has been a stressful 5 weeks now onto the ENT Doctors to see if they can fight off the infection (which has been running rampant for weeks more than it should have been due to us being dicked around by Insurance/Scan Place/Doctors for over 5 weeks just to get the damn biopsy done!).2 points

it's totally due to who's in charge (park president) and the results they get. Jeffery Siebert is an amazing guy, and he does a great job at SFFT interacting with the guests as well as running the park. Ron moved up to SFOT Park President from SFFT leadership chain, so that's why SFOT has been doing amazing things the past 16 months as well)1 point

Fun Land of Fredericksburg has received city council approval to move ahead with their plan to add a 130 foot tall drop tower to the park! https://fredericksburg.com/news/local/fredericksburg-city-council-paves-way-for-new-ride-at-fun-land/article_60cae349-92eb-5eab-98e9-f7fb440f7c8c.html Fun Land in Central Park is set to reach new heights. Fredericksburg City Council voted 5–2 Tuesday night to allow heights of outdoor recreation structures up to 135 feet by special-use permit in the Planned Development—Commercial Zoning District. That paves the way for the amusement park to begin constructing the 130-foot drop tower ride that is in the preliminary stages. Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw and Councilman Jason Graham voted against Councilman Billy Withers’ motion because both agreed with the Planning Commission’s recommendation of 155 feet. They believe that leeway would’ve prevented the need for future businesses to require Unified Development Ordinance amendments. Greenlaw said Fun Land put the city “on the map” when it opened Virginia’s first multilevel go-kart track in 2019. The Planning Commission discussed the possibility of a facility such as Top Golf coming to Fredericksburg and that would require a clearance of approximately 150 feet. Graham said Central Park is the ideal location for recreational businesses with tall structures although the Top Golf discussion was purely speculative. “I think this is absolutely the place to allow these types of heights,” Graham said. “These experiential types of companies like Fun Land and Top Golf, I think are going to be the future of commercial property in the city as you see traditional retail start to phase out over time.” Councilman Matt Kelly expressed concern that expanding the limit to 155 feet would violate a 2005 agreement that no structures in Celebrate Virginia South would obstruct views from the Rappahannock River. Kelly said that while the Fun Land ride doesn’t conflict with the agreement, expanding to 155 feet could open the door for future issues. City Attorney Kathleen Dooley said the agreement is enforceable if city officials wanted to decline future special use permit applications pertaining to height. “We’re looking at redeveloping sooner or later all of Central Park,” Withers said. “I would hate to say we can have all this height. How is that going to affect the future redevelopment of the rest of Central Park? Are we saying we want to make it all amusement property or do we want to have a good mixed use of property?”1 point

They've chopped away at some of Batman's queue to make space. The project is a lot bigger than I imagined it.1 point

The dark rides have always piqued my curiosity about this water park. As Elissa said, I wish more water parks had them.1 point

I would assume not using indoor queues is to avoid the mask rule as much as possible. Actually smart on magic mountain part.1 point

This move must be part of Six Flags' plan to move people away from season passes to memberships. Personally, I like the membership, especially since they upgraded me for free bc of COVID and then gave me a giftcard for the months SFMM was closed.1 point

Necromancer here. I looked and couldn't find an official thread yet, but things are ramping up in a big way at this park. Friends and family previews are going on right now and they open next month. I came across the POV of their Jurassic World attraction and I just had to heap praise on the team at the park because hooooooooooooly moley it's incredible. Spidey tech with mostly live sets and massive, in-your-face animatronics while only having a few screens peppered throughout. Honestly this ride alone might be the reason I finally bite the bullet and make a trip to China.1 point

Yeah...that's a tough one... Timber Terror Backwards is something to experience, I've done it during the day and I can only imagine it's better at night. I've also heard that Scarywood is a pretty solid haunt event, although it is hard to argue with the reduced ride offerings. I don't think Aftershock has ever opened for Scarywood cause of the weather, but I was surprised that Stunt Pilot won't open either. So unless they are going with a "under promise, over deliver" strategy then I could see how you'd want to skip out. Speaking of Scarywood... The park has confirmed that all 5 mazes from 2019 will return: Blood Bayou, Planet Zombie, Dr. Delirium, Pharaoh's Curse, and Total Darkness. On the website they say that both Pharaoh's Curse and Total Darkness have been "updated" for 2021. It says that PC has moved to "Across from Thunder Canyon", but everything else is in the same spot. So while there's no new mazes this year, it looked like they switched up a few of the scare zones although I'm don't know which ones are new or not. Also there's no log flume this year...so that idea didn't last long for them. I'm mostly just grateful that the park is able to have the event, and I hope that it works out for them!1 point

Louisiana and then the whole Redneck Riviera and Texas border regions then the rest of Florida and now the South. But yes, the first spot that lit up like Rudolph's nose was the Table Rock/Bull Shoals/Norfork Lake regions of the Ozarks and it has spread out from there. There is a clear correlation to vacationing hot spots likely spread by asymptomatic breakthrough cases living life normally. It just happens it was to areas where folks are resistant to vaccines.1 point

How could I have forgotten Walygator? Oh wait, it was really easy to forget. I would have mentioned Elitch Gardens, but the dark ride intrigues me.1 point

One of the weird things about this hobby is how very difficult it is to get the same experience as someone else. If we were all super-into movies, for example, even if maybe I saw it in a better theater than you did, we still basically saw the same movie. Of course we might have different reactions to it, but we wouldn't have to figure out which day the other person saw it on, what year, where they started, where they ate, what row they sat in, which employees they encountered, how the projector was running that day, their weight, height, and age, and a million other variables. We could just say, "Oh, you like different movies than I do." (And then we could have a knife fight about it.) But I've had vastly different enjoyment levels myself at the same park on different visits, and I'm sure most of you all have too. So how do you know the next one won't be better? Of course, I'm not advocating repeated visits to a park you hate. But I've personally never been to a park that was so bad that it couldn't possibly improve.1 point

I don't think there is any park that I will refuse to visit again. Some parks are very far down my priority list to visit again until something major and significant comes along (such as Six Flags America), but that doesn't mean I would *refuse* a visit if presented the opportunity. Parks are constantly changing and evolving and always deserve another chance in my opinion.1 point

Park probably has the best location of any in the country (actually in downtown right off a metro station) and is just left to rot. I went mainly because it was convenient to do before catching dodgers at rockies and I had never been. Will never go back, but your TR sums up the place perfectly. I’m also not expecting a replacement whenever it closes. Stan kroenke just spent a metric ton of money on sofi stadium, so he’ll probably sell off the rides…1 point

There are enough FL holders at CP as it is. The world doesn't need more. Step up and pay the price or wait in the 2 hour lines like the plebians you are.1 point

A chain and a combination lock should work well if you can get it through security, but if not a nice wide base and sound defensive technique should be sufficient.....1 point

I went yesterday & was just blown away by how huge that ride is...it's an awesome sight to behold as you enter the parking lot.It rides very smoothly as well(but then again it's a B&M after all). I didn't get home until well after 1 am this morning mainly due to being in line for one last night ride on Dominator that took us well past park closing to complete.1 point
