  2. It should have been "an epic battle between The Wolf Man, Dracula, The Mummy, and Brendan Fraser".

  5. Water coaster maybe? That was mentioned as a potential future attraction option (along with a Kentucky Flyer-esque Gravity Group Woodie, and a Gerstlauer Eurofighter ala Tantrum or Iron Shark) back at an ACE event they did in 2019.

  6. I've always been more partial to Knott's because HHN is entirely dependent on if I happen to care about the movies they picked that year (and i usually don't). Also I get very tired of the HHN formula (open door, push button, loud noise, close door, repeat), Knott's feels more immersive and creative to me. The crowds at HHN used be way worse but Knott's was jam packed last year too, so it might be a toss up now... though Sunday early in the season shouldn't be too bad. If you want to do HHN but also go on some rides, you should check out the Day/Night combo ticket. It lets you into the park starting at 2:00, so you can catch some rides and a Water World show and then already be inside the park once the mazes open. Also, if you're looking for a haunted attraction in the LA area that's not an all night commitment, check out Reign of Terror. It's a bit of a drive (Thousand Oaks) but I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's a stand alone independent haunt that is EVERY BIT as good as the mazes at the theme parks.

  7. Let the speculation about Adventure Express' future begin. Yes I know they just repainted it and it's not going anywhere.

  9. I've never been to either park so I have no dog in this fight but I picked flumes and booze because duh. I also want to go to Knotts more than any other park in Cali.

  10. The Orlando and Hollywood HHN are very different. Even when they share properties, each coast does their own version of it, and they'll have very little in common. In a nutshell, Orlando has much, much better sets. I'm sure you're aware of the joke that HHN is a lot of black walls, and there's truth to that (though it is improving). But the trade off is I feel the Hollywood scareactors are on point and are the best in the biz. Very consistent, aggressive, and very in your face. I've found the Orlando scareactos can be hit and miss. That's also a flaw of Knott's... they also have some great, and very original and unique themes and set design... but aside from the Ghosttown scareactors, the maze scareactors are really, really inconsistent. There's been many times I've walked through a Knott's maze and see a scareactor every 20 feet... and then, doing the same maze 30 minutes later, have only 1-2 scareactors for the entire maze. (It tends to happens more towards the end of the evening.) If you go to Knott's, I definitely recommend a FOL... the lines are well managed, and you can often get to every maze more than once, which is something you'll want to do, because you'll get a very different experience even in the same maze. Boofet would be a good idea, because food lines during the event are nightmare (and not the good kind for a haunt). Oh, and you mentioned going on a Haunted Log ride... lately, they haven't been making it haunted. It'll be open, but aside from a few minor Halloween decorations, that'll be it. No scareactors. To be honest, even when they did, it was fairly underwhelming, so you're not really missing that much.

  11. Went again on Sunday. Absolutely nothing going on at Scream Machine - ghost town over there. Lines weren't bad at all, but operations were pretty slow. That isn't to say that the staff wasn't pleasant; because everyone I dealt with was great as far as attitude. I think dispatches were slow because the crowd was being "special." In line for the Log Ride, I watched a couple 8 minute dispatches on Scorcher which were painful to watch (thank god I wasn't waiting on it.) It looked (from a distance) like people were being idiots about standing up and train had to be unlocked and locked repeatedly. Ninja/Blue Hawk is actually fun in the front seat and the Super Loop is more intense that I remembered. Oh the joys of going with a 6 year old. He's currently 49" so we are limited on what he can ride, but we make due. David

  12. I know it's a double post but this is unrelated to the previous post: Efteling announces Danse Macabre for 2024. This is what the name will be of the attraction going on Spookslot's place, the name wasn't pulled from a hat as it was in the park for 44 years as the title of the song of Spookslot, the song will also be reused for the new attraction. While the park hasn't released much information of about the ride here is what they did: There is a new 17000 m² themed area that includes the ride itself a place to get food and drinks (Restaurant or stall I don't know my guess will be on stall however) and shop. While the ride itself hasn't been announced the hight of the building has been set on 20 meters. The ride will have the same theme as Spookslot. Source: Efteling. For original article and video with the ride designer click on the ride name.

  13. Universal Studios has announced the first house coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2022! https://www.universalorlando.com/hhn/en/us?__source=ag.TWITTER&linkId=165522378 Universal Monsters: Legends Collide If you thought one Universal Monster was scary, how about three? Better summon your scream squad, ‘cause you’re about to get caught in the middle of an epic battle between The Wolf Man, Dracula and The Mummy, together for the first time ever. Their mission: To find the amulet that will break their curse. And they’ll destroy anyone who gets in their way.

  14. Perhaps a little roof on the top like Lighting Rod is the answer. Also agree that the show Yellowjackets is good stuff.

  15. this show is AMAZING if you haven't seen it. . tho it got renewed for Season 2 way early in the run, and so it was a given they wouldn't resolve much in the finale. but Christina Ricci is gonna get an Emmy nod for it most likely, and even Juliette Lewis is fantastic in it.

  16. Have they moved from SheiKra to IG or do we now have warring factions of wasps at BGT?!!?

  17. Are wasps protected in Florida or something? They're wasps. Kill them all. They bring nothing to the world except hatred and pain.

  18. Went to the park for the first time of the season last Friday and all I can say is... wow. KI has done a lot to improve the atmosphere of the park over the last couple of years, but they've really pulled out all the stops this season shining everything up for the 50th. The Beast retracking has moved it back into my #2 slot at the park (just barely behind Mystic Timbers) and I suspect people will be really impressed with how well it's running now. You can still feel the trims (especially in the shed) but it still feels way faster than ever before, so I really don't mind too much. Racer looks gorgeous in its new paint job, and the GP has clearly responded well to the retracking, since it consistently has a wait now, when it used to almost always be a walk-on. And all of the effects are working on Adventure Express, along with a new lighting package and a repainted track! I also noticed new BGM throughout the park, with an attempt to have appropriate music for each themed area instead of just playing generic pop in each section of the park. I really appreciate all the little details like this that they're focusing on and it seems to be paying off for them. Hopefully they keep making little tweaks and improvements like this to really make KI stand out from other seasonal parks.

  19. This.... and the grounds are beautiful. Same reason a lot of people go to The Masters (Augusta National Golf Club) even though they dont like golf.

  20. We were back at the park earlier this week for a couple days. VC crew really keeps things moving, never had a wait of more than about 35 min and that was usually doing front row. We were at RP so had express for most things but I will reiterate two things for everyone. Use single rider for Hagrids, all you really give up is a chance to ride on the motorbike side, not that big a deal and even if you aren't usually a "show" person make sure to go see the Bourne Stuntacular, it is amazing.

  21. The longest wooden roller coaster in the world gets an overhaul within a matter of months, but the carousel at SFSTL is going to take at least three years to complete.
