S&S is capable of soooo much more then this...

I understand they are still in the trying to prove they can do it mode, but I have to kind of call this a gimmicky design.

What is the point of traveling that fast just to be slowed to a crawling 60 mph to enter course. Might as well call it e-brake the ride.

I agree with Robb, judging by the animation it appears they won't be using I-Beam track & this should make for a smoother ride & launch then experienced on the 2 Thrust-Air coasters. I'm very hopeful & am already making plans to go and ride it! I can't wait until construction photos begin to surface.

Right...but keep this in mind. This is what the PARK WANTED. From my understanding the original ride was just an oval and it was S&S that talked them into at least adding the turn.

You all have to remember that sometimes it's not up to the ride manufacturer, it's up to what the ride the park had ordered.

Good point, Robb. Sometimes I think we fail to think about things from a park's point of view.

If I was the park, I would want to have the best OVERALL experience for a guest...I understand that there are limitations at times.

That video clearly uses sound effects from NoLimits, but it's not a NoLimits video.

It'll have to be trimmed immediately following the launch unless that hill is 470 feet high. I hope they can figure a way to brake it easily so you're not slammed forward right after your slammed back.

I actually think just the oval makes more sense. But I guess the turn makes it seem more like a coaster.

Just wanted to throw this out there but is it possible this ride will track and feel more like Powder Keg using traditional tubular rails instead of the rougher Hypersonic and Dondonpa which used I-Beam track?

--Robb

I personally never had the chance to ride Hypersonic, but I have heard stories about how brutal it was. But I have been on TTD, Storm Runner, and Xcelerator and I know they they offer a great smooth ride. The only coaster I have ridden with I-Beam track is Superman: The Escape at sfmm and if there were triwsts and turns I could see it being kinda rough. I would assume it would offer a smooth ride. Having the fastest roller coaster on earth will give the park attention it is seeking.

Dang, those trains DO look good, though.

This coaster could have so much more potential. It's just a launch. Then a turn. Then another turn. Then a drop. Then it's over. LAME.

Look at other launched coasters. I'm not talking about TTD and Kingda Ka, but like California Screamin'. It's launched at only 55 mph, yet it can go through that entire ride with only one drop afterwards. If they could do something like that, just taller and faster, it would be absolutely incredible.

Half of this discussion is about the actual coaster, and the other half is theoretical about what else could be done with the same technology.

Problem is the half that's actually talking about the coaster is nothing complaining about how "lame" the design is. Is there some law written that says the design must be the craziest, most-whacked out design ever for a coaster of its type or else it's automatically doomed to failure? Why are we trying to place some kind of blame somewhere about that?

Are people here seriously going to ride the ride, go 130MPH or however fast it goes, get off, and really say "that was totally lame!"??? So what if it doesn't have any hills? That kind of speed alone is going to make for a really fun time. Why should the ride not exist because it doesn't have hills, flips, donkeys on fire or anything else especially when its main point and main thrill is the speed? 130+MPH, what more does it really need in order to pass some kind of litmus test?
